Small puffs of air escaped from my lips as I adjusted to the feel of my new lover inside, by far the most prodigious I’d ever had. My head strained upwards as Grey’s drifted back. He rocked his hips back and forth with a forceful rhythm. My eyes traveled in long, lustful glances as I admired his physical perfection. Head to toe, he was the epitome of masculine power. While he held my right leg aloft with his left hand, his right fell to my pussy and clit, nearly causing me to almost climax that instant.

I moaned and ground my hips into his pelvis as he released my leg and braced himself against the table with his hand. Dropping my head back on the table once again, I hooked my legs around the back of his rock hard ass and pulled on his hips as I assisted him in his thrusting.

For several minutes, the table rocked beneath me as the pace of Grey’s pulses intensified. His hips crashed into me, pounding against me like waves on a craggy shore. Licking my lips, I reached around the outside of my thigh and placed the palms of my hands flat against the thick muscle of his legs. They flexed and contracted as he drove in and out of me, over and over again. All the while, he circled my clit with his thumb, driving me to the brink of climax.

At last his cadence increased once again and he stopped and started, with sharp, staccato puls
es. Grimaces of delight spread across his face, contorting it in the throes of ecstasy. Surrendering to the sudden change, Grey bent forward at the waist and steadied himself with his hand. Whether it was seeing the approach of the inevitable in his eyes
or the fact that he continued to thumb my clit with unrelenting pressure, I felt a surge of my own rush to the forefront of my mind.

My legs contracted, pulling Grey hard against me and driving his cock inside, further than it had been yet. I cried out. Arching my back off the table, I flung my arms around his neck and pulled him down, hoping to press my lips to his again. He obliged and dropped his mouth to mine. As our lips met, my eyes shut tight and a flash of white inside them preceded an electric shock that pulsed through my body and traveled directly to my pussy.

I cried out and curled my nails into the thick muscle of his upper back as orgasm overtook me. At the same instant, Grey’s body flexed with a hard contraction as his entire body froze in place.

“Oooohhh…” he groaned as he began to come inside me.

My lips dropped away from his with breathless delight as he laced my insides with his warmth right in the midst of my own climax. Our bodies locked together in mutual release as the peak of our orgasms pummeled us with bliss. Grey’s thrusting continued until he came to a stop, bracing himself over the top of me, smiling. My breath slowed enough to manage a reply as I looked up into his eyes.

“What?” I said, as I caressed his midsection, now covered with a fine sheen of sweat.

“I think it might be time for some more negotiation,” he replied.

Without warning, he snatched me up from the table and draped me across his shoulder, as if I weighed nothing at all. I shrieked in delight when he swatted my ass and continued, “In the bedroom.”

MADDIE

“Here,” Grey said, as he passed by me on the way back to the bed. “This is for you. Don’t tear that one up. It’s the last one I’ve got on me.”

“Thank you,” I replied, as I took another check from him and closed my fingers around it. He kissed me on the cheek, and after slipping on a pair of boxer briefs, climbed back into the bed.

As I dressed, I cast a casual glance at Grey. Through tousled hair and sheets twisted around his sweaty, sinewy frame, he smiled up at me. As much as I wanted to, he hadn’t asked me to stay. Truthfully even though I would have if he’d wanted, another part of me was equally glad he hadn't.

After I’d finished slipping my clothes back on, I rounded the bed and sat down on the mattress next to him. Reaching down, I moved a loose strand of his hair out of his eyes. For an instant, all the tension I’d carried around since first meeting him vanished. In its place, lightness filled my body and brought a sense of calm to my mind.

I smiled at him as I caressed his face. “When will I see you again?”

He didn’t answer right away, but instead looked into my eyes for several seconds. At last, he pulled his arm behind his head and propped himself up a bit.

“Um,” he began. “That depends on you, Maddie.”

Confused, I removed my hand from his face and folded both of them in my lap.

“Me? What do you mean? Why does it depend on me?”

“Well, do you want my help with your business or not? If so, I’ll make arrangements to come back to Los Angeles again.”

Confusion gave way to concern. I stood from the mattress. “And if not?”

Without hesitation he replied, “I suppose I pay you for your time tonight and we part ways. Pretty simple.”

Okay, wait a second, what just happened right there?

Isn’t that how this works with a
hooker
? Was I, in fact, what I’d been accused of being that night in line outside the club?

Where seconds before I felt warm all over in the aftermath of what happened between us, now a sudden chill permeated me. Grey kept his icy promise and, true to his word, offered me nothing other than what he’d proposed. I glanced around for the rest of my things and moved quickly to grab them and get the hell out of there.

Noticing my haste, Grey sat up in the bed.

“What’s the rush?”

I shook my head as I pulled a strand of hair behind my ear and grabbed my clutch from the floor where I’d tossed it and stuffed his check inside.

“Nothing, I’m gonna go,” I said, as I rushed out of the bedroom.

“Go?” he asked. I heard his feet hit the floor as he jumped out of the bed in pursuit of me. “Why are you leaving?”

I stopped for a split second to pick up my shoes and before I realized it, he’d closed on me. As he did, he grabbed my arm at the wrist like he did outside of the hotel the other night. It surprised, scared and angered me all at the same time.

“Let…” I snapped at him as I yanked my arm free of his grip. “Go!”

He raised his hands in a gesture of mock surrender. “Hey, take it easy. What the hell’s the problem?”

“You really don’t know?” I asked, as I put on my left shoe and then picked up my right one from the floor nearby.

“No.”

“Uh! Well here it is, plain and simple. In so many words, you just treated me like a call girl.”

“What?” he leaned away and let out deep laugh. Clapping his hands together, he looked back at me. “You can’t be serious right?”

Chewing my lip, I nodded and stared him the eye. “I am. Quite.”

Grey shook his head. “Maddie, one has nothing to do with the other. I explained that to you. I’m not doing anything to lead you to believe the contrary. You know the terms of my offer.”

“Oh my God!” I yelled as I spun away from him after putting on my right shoe. I stormed away from him. “Would you please, for a second, not talk to me like I’m a real estate agent or something?”

His footsteps closed fast on me again. I stopped and turned around, quick to claim my space before he tried to invade it once more.

“Maddie,” he said after I turned back to face him. “Look, I don’t think of you like that. Okay?”

“Well you may not, but I cannot pretend my feelings don’t exist or aren’t real. I mean, I’m no better than a common whore. I can’t get past that sensation no matter how you attempt to justify it. I don’t expect you to understand.”

“I see. You’re wrong though.”

“I don’t have any hard feelings, all right? I know you are the way you are. I’m not holding it against you.”

“Oh thanks,” he replied. His tone darkened. “Really fucking appreciate you being so tolerant of me.”

“What?” I began as I fought to get myself together at last and get the hell out of there. “I didn’t mean anything by it. I thought that’s what you want. You know, from me… from women.”

Scowling at me, he shook his head. “You are calling my character into question with accusations like that, Maddie.”

“How, Grey?”

“Well if you don’t know then it really is best if you go. And as far as any business deal goes, you can forget about that as well. I have no interest in being partners with someone who doesn’t trust me and it’s clear you don’t.”

“What? When did I say I didn’t trust you, Grey?”

“I’ve misjudged you, Maddie. I apologize for offering to help you. It was a mistake.”

“No, no, no…” I said, as I slammed my clutch down on the table. I tossed my hair aside with a swift motion of my head and glaring at Grey, I said, “I have done nothing to give you the right to back out on the deal. And anyway, why do you care what I think about where you put your cock? I don’t!”

He nodded in disgust and crossed his arms at his chest. When he failed to step in with a response, I continued.

“I’ve got a little advice for you, Grey Sinclair. When you get this upset, maybe you should consider whether or not you’re one hundred percent sure you're happy with the choices you’ve made in life. Seems to me if you were, then what I say one way or another wouldn’t bother you in the least.”

With his arms still tight across his torso, Grey didn’t respond, but instead thinned his lips as he glared in my direction.

“Yeah,” I said as I grabbed my clutch from the table. “That’s what I thought.”

A split second later, I was at the door.

“Maddie,” he began, as I placed my hand on the knob and prepared to open it. “I’m, uh, I’m sorry. That was out of line. And stupid. My offer still stands.”

Doing a half-turn over my shoulder as I pulled the door open, I looked at him.

“I’ll give you my decision tomorrow. That is, unless you’ve changed your mind about that also.”

Shaking his head, he looked at me as I passed through the doorway and into the hall.

“No. That’s fine,” he replied.

Without a word, I slammed the door and began to march down the hallway back towards the bank of elevators. About halfway there though, I started to feel lightheaded and a bit wobbly in the knees. The walls seemed to close in around me as my footing started to fail. I stopped and leaned against the suede wallpaper in an effort to calm myself.

Just breathe, Maddie. Everything is fine.

I reached down in my clutch to see if I had any money for a cab or hell, a bus. I didn’t want to see Armando and put him on the spot, in case Grey decided to ask questions about me. Anyway, I’d see Grey tomorrow on the way to the airport. I was just over all of it for tonight.

As I searched through my bag, I pressed my back to the wall and slid down its entire length until I sat, legs spread, on the hallway floor. Finally I felt something made of paper and pulled it out.

It was Grey’s check. As I looked at it, I realized there was enough here for a hundred microwave ovens. With someone like him on my side, there was no telling how far ahead I’d get. Whatever the case, it would be a helluva lot further along than I was right now which, obviously, was nowhere.

Leaning my head against the wall, I stared up to the ornate crystal light fixture overhead. Long crystals hung down like icicles, casting subtle rainbows across the ceiling as the light reflected off them. For a moment, the subtle beauty of the distraction soothed me.

Tomorrow I’d make the biggest decision of my life.

I turned and looked back down the hall towards Grey’s suite.

Had he already made his?
