I wore this outfit to the park with my family,
and some boys made fun of me. I was so upset, I never wore it again. That broke my mother's heart. She didn't like seeing me feel uncomfortable trying to be myself or doing things I wanted to do. I'm proud of my parents for buying that
fairy outfit
for me when I asked for it. But it also makes me sad that so many children can't innocently express themselves, simply because they might not fit our societally defined roles.
I never chose to be anything.
I was just a carefree little gay Irish girl from day one
