He rubbed his thumb on my clit and I cried again, digging my nails on his shoulders. He drew circles around me while sinking his fingers deeper, sending fire rolling in waves in my veins. Moans escaped my throat, but that was something I couldn’t control, especially when Garrett was watching me with his mouth slightly parted, his breathing heavy, and his eyes shining as if I was the most beautiful, the most delicious thing he had ever seen.

My toes curled and I arched my back, feeling the pleasure built up, so close to exploding.

Then he stopped everything.

“What …?” I asked, but he raised a brow at me, and started moving down on me, placing tiny kisses on my neck, shoulder, breast, belly, and hip. My breath caught.
Meu Deus
.

He spread my legs apart and leaned into me. He teased me with his hot breath along my inner thighs, making my belly clench in anticipation. Then his tongue lashed out on my clit, and I cried his name. I fisted the sheet around me, afraid I would break into a million pieces with each stroke of his tongue. Then he slid two fingers inside me hard while circling his tongue around my clit, and I was done for. My body tightened and pleasure broke loose like a dam, making my body quiver uncontrollably.

For a moment, I was in a blissful daze, and when I came down from my high, but not down enough,
Graças a Deus
, I found Garrett with a foil package hanging from between his teeth while he took his pants and boxers off. I looked at his erection and swallowed hard. He was huge, and I couldn’t wait another second before he was inside me.

“Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to do something about it?

“I’m coming,” he said, kicking his pants to the side.

“I hope so,” I said with a naughty smile.

I didn’t know if he caught the double meaning of my words, but he showed me that half-grin, and pure lust radiated from his eyes as he rolled the condom on. Slowly, he crawled over me. Keeping most of his weight on his elbows, he rested his forehead on mine, and as I spread my legs, he positioned himself over at my entrance. I grabbed his biceps as he entered me, robbing me of air and filling me completely. When he was deep inside me, buried to the hilt, he stilled.

“Fuck, this feels good,” he muttered.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and kicked his fine ass. “Garrett, I’m going to die if you don’t move.”

His lopsided grin flashed on his lips before he brought them to mine. Kissing me, he pulled back, all the way out—I instantly felt his absence—and then sank back inside me. He did it again and again, going faster and deeper with each stroke, making me scream louder and louder.

This was too good,
Meu Deus
, just too good. Sex had never been this good. I didn’t know what it was, but I felt so close to him, so connected to him. He kissed my neck, his warm breath on my skin and his delicious scent filing my lungs, sending a shiver up my spine.

He bit my neck. “God, so good,” he said in a growl. “I could eat you up.”

Oh, please, do.

With each thrust, my body tightened with pure pleasure, and I was sure that if he kept that rhythm I wouldn’t last much longer, and damn, I wanted this to last. Surprising him, I pushed him to the side and flipped us around. His eyes widened as I sat straighter over him.

I smiled and then he smiled. A full on smile. Just for me. My heart stuttered.

His hands landed on my waist and, with my eyes locked on his, I started moving. I pulled up, then down hard. He groaned and his fingers curled in my skin.

“Fuck,” he mumbled as I moved up and down, harder and faster.

Even swimming in pleasure, I couldn’t
not
appreciate the view under me. He was too hot, too handsome. His abs, chest, and biceps were taut. His chin and jaw chiseled, his cheekbones high, his parted mouth swollen and kissable, his hair soft and messy, messier than usual. His hazel eyes bright, staring at me. I had no idea what was written in them; I just knew that I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop staring at him, and I couldn’t stop moving. Faster and harder.

“Bia, please, don’t stop,” he said, his hands on my hips, guiding me over him.

I leaned over him, wanting to be close to him, as close as we could be, when we both came. I placed a soft kiss on his lips, but then his hand was on my neck, locking me there. I wiggled my hips while moving them up and down, feeling my pleasure at the edge, and he groaned.

“Like that?” I asked, wiggling again.

“Oh, fuck yeah,” he whispered.

He nudged my neck lower and took my mouth in his, plunging his tongue in and caressing mine. I wiggled one more time and lost it. I exploded but didn’t stop moving. Although, with two more strokes, Garrett went still for a second, before trembling under me. He wrapped both arms around me as he rode down the high, and I smiled, glad I provided this moment of pleasure and relaxation to him.

When he stopped trembling, he ran a hand through my hair and kissed my forehead. “That was …”

I crossed my arms over his chest and propped my chin on them, looking at him. “Amazing?”

He craned his neck and I met him halfway for a brief kiss. “More than that,” he said.

“Agreed.”

We stared at each other. I was unsure why I fought against this so hard, but I was glad I finally gave in and came to him on my own.

The glow on his face faded, and he pushed me to the side.

“Um, I’m hungry. Are you? How about I drive somewhere and bring us food?”

I frowned. Maybe it was me, but it seemed like he realized what a mistake he had made and was now looking for a way to get rid of me. A pang ran through my chest. As much as it hurt, I wasn’t a clingy girl, and I wasn’t going to complain or ask why.

I forced a smile. “Yeah, sure.”

He shot up, got dressed, and then knelt on the bed beside me.

“I’ll be right back.” He placed a sweet kiss on my lips and then rushed out of the cabin.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Garrett had been gone for almost an hour.

I leaned on the driver door of my SUV, asking myself why I didn’t just leave. I mean, he all but ran away from me after we were done. Obviously, he didn’t want me here. As soon as I heard his truck driving down the road, I shot up and got dressed, determined to leave. However, as I walked out of the cabin, I realized that would be childish. We couldn’t just pretend nothing happened. Well, maybe he could, but I couldn’t. I liked him way too much to pretend. Besides, would I run away from another thing in my life? No, I would stay right here until he got back, even if he took his sweet time cursing himself for sleeping with me before manning up and coming back. He probably thought that if he stayed out for a long time, I would get tired of waiting and would leave.

I confess, I almost hopped in my car and drove away several times.
Droga
, that option wasn’t out of the question yet. If he took much longer, I really would leave. Final exams started tomorrow, and I hadn’t started studying yet.

I hugged my jacket and looked up, knowing it was about to snow again. Another half hour passed. The hell with it. If he didn’t want to talk to me, then I didn’t want to talk to him either. Apparently, we were taking the childish path.

I opened the door of my SUV and I was slipping inside when I heard the sound of a car driving closer. I turned and saw his truck approaching. He parked beside me, exited his truck, and walked around it, looking at me with a frown.

“You’re leaving?” he asked, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans.

I jumped out of my SUV, but leaned against the doorframe. “I thought you weren’t coming back.” He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, I continued, “Listen, Garrett. If you didn’t want me here after we had sex, you should have told me. I’m not a child and I’m sure not clingy. I won’t whine or complain. You should have told me you needed space or some other half-lie like that and I would have left. Okay?”

I turned to enter my car again, but he grabbed my arm and turned me to face him.

“I admit,” he started, “I needed some time to think, but I was—I am—hungry, so I took advantage of that time to think.”

I tugged my arm and he let go. “Glad to see you manned up and came to tell me the truth.”

“About what?”

“All right. I’ll just spare you, okay. No need to tell me what a mistake it was, and that it won’t happen again. The message is loud and clear.”

I turned to my car again, but this time, he shot his arm out and blocked my way in. “Wait a minute, you think it was a mistake?”

I crossed my arms. “You clearly do.”

“Bia, do you think it was a mistake?”

“It doesn’t matter what I th—”

“Answer the damn question. Please.”

“N-no, I don’t. But like I said, I’m not clingy and I won’t bother you again.”

He took a step closer, making me retreat a step. My back pressed against the side of my SUV, and he loomed over me, so close I could feel the tension in his body.

“Bia, I don’t think it was a mistake.”

I gaped. “Then why did you leave?”

“For one, I really am hungry, and after being away all week, there’s nothing to eat. The last time I ate was five o’clock this morning, before arriving in town. I haven’t eaten anything since and was about to leave to grab something when you arrived. Two, I really needed to think, not about how to ditch you, but to understand what I’m feeling.”

I bit my lip, trying to keep the question in, but it was stronger than I was. “And what are you feeling?”

“Honestly, I’m not sure yet, but all I know is that I don’t want you to leave.” He grazed my cheek with his knuckles. I leaned into his touch. “Stay.”

I shouldn’t stay. Not because I didn’t want to.
Meu Deus
, I wanted to. However, I had to study. With all that had happened, I hadn’t done well with my midterms and I needed to do well on the finals to end up with a good GPA. After all, my grades would transfer when I did.

Garrett’s knuckles slipped down my neck, making me shiver. Who was I kidding? Even if I went back to my dorm, I wouldn’t be able to focus on studying now, would I? Hell no.

I nodded.

A lopsided grin adorned his lips before he pressed my body against the car with his body, and brought his mouth down to mine. I let him control the kiss and didn’t regret it. His lips moved slowly and deeply, and his tongue caressed mine, making me moan.

Groaning, he broke the kiss and whispered in my ear, “I want to hear you moan and scream for me again, but first—” He took a step back. “—let’s get out of this cold and eat.” He opened the passenger door of his truck and pick up a large brown bag and a tray with sodas from the floor. “Come on.” He jerked his chin to the cabin and started walking that way.

I followed him, and in those sixty seconds of silence, my mind raced.

What the hell was I doing? I should be at my dorm studying, and more than that, I shouldn’t be getting involved now that I decided I was going back to California. I mean, not that we couldn’t have a hot affair in the remaining week I still had here, but that was putting my heart on the line for something I was sure wouldn’t last.

Not to mention, if Audrey found out that Garrett and I slept together, she would probably find a way to spin this story into one of her terrible lies and make me look like a slut.

Even if I was able to convince myself to leave, it was too late now. With all the time we spent together and the way I knew him, I was already too attached.

Garrett sat on the couch and starting pulling the contents from inside the bag. “I hope you like pasta.” He placed a to-go plate of fettuccine Alfredo and another one of spaghetti a Bolognese on the wooden table in front of him. Lifting his chin to look at me, he patted the free spot beside him. “Won’t you sit down?”

“Yeah, of course,” I said, sitting beside him.

He grabbed napkins and plastic utensils from the bag. “Do you prefer regular plates and a fork? I have it.”

“This is fine,” I said. He gestured to the plates and I shrugged, not very hungry. “I like both, so I’ll let you choose.”

“Okay.” He grabbed the Bolognese plate and handed me the other one.

I opened the lid and played with the food while he dug in. After a minute of silence, I finally opened my mouth. “Are you feeling better? I mean, I came to find out if you were okay and I still don’t have an answer.”

He finished swallowing before answering. His eyes darkened. “I thought you had noticed, but I was pretty okay earlier, when we were in bed.”

Heat crawled across my face and I slapped his shoulder. “That’s not what I meant.”

“I know. I just wanted to tease you. I like when you blush.”

Of course, that made my face hotter, and I was sure my cheeks were bright red. “I’m serious. I am worried about you.”

His expression hardened. “Don’t. I’m okay. I’ll be okay.”

I wanted to prod, to make him talk and open up because there was no way he was okay after all that happened the past two days. Delilah lost the competition, and he saw her lashing out at her new horse. He drove back through the night—which reminded me, how the hell wasn’t he sleeping on his feet—and had to stand before his father while the man literally kicked Garrett out of his life. His insides were probably bursting with rage, frustration, and concern. I knew I would be.
