GAY SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANINGS

THE RAINBOW FLAG

The diverse colors in the rainbow have come to symbolize the diversity of sexual orientation and gender.

THE PINK TRIANGLE

Now used as a symbol of solidarity, its origins stem back to the Nazi concentration camps. Among Hitler’s victims were gays and lesbians. Instead of wearing the Jewish star, they were made to wear a pink triangle.

AND

Symbols that represent two women or two men in a relationship.

The equal sign is the logo of The Human Rights Campaign (HRC). It is yellow on a dark blue background.
