‘What happen to knock Angel into
magical shock I need to know so we can treat him?’ Gavrie had a worried look on
his face as he asked.

Medwin looked at the others and
then back to Gavrie, he was thinking about how to tell him with out letting him
know all. ‘We went over to the wall in the corner and sat looking at the rock
face. We know there is a very powerful spell holding the school to the rock
face, so we sat there and with our magic we let it feel the spell.’ Medwin
stopped with a worried look on his face.

Shylyn then carried on. ‘We could
not feel it very well so Angel told us to join our magic with his magic so he
might be able to see it. So we did and everything was fine for a time, as Angel
told us what he could see of the spell.’ Shylyn started to falter in telling
Gavrie of what happened.

Maive then finished. ‘Suddenly
Angel stopped talking and just collapsed beside us but we don’t know why or
what caused it. Will he be alright we didn’t know what to do?’ Maive suddenly
burst into tears as she finished telling him.

Gavrie looked at them and could
see they were very worried. They had done something no other wizard would think
of doing; they shared their magic with each other in complete trust. These four
were something he or any other wizard would have thought impossible.

He was going to have to hide this
from other wizards and he was going to have to talk to them about it as well.
He was not thinking it was bad but it’s just something they have never come
across and some wizards might not like it. Also he would like to see where it
leads to for they were looking at the spell that holds the school and as far as
he knows no one has ever been able to do that.

He suddenly comes back to Medwin,
Maive and Shylyn looking at him with fear on there faces. ‘He will be fine it’s
just magical shock meaning he has used his magic just a bit to much and did not
know he was getting very tired. The magic in him pulled him out of the spell
and in doing so it put him into shock.’ Turning and looking at Angel as he lay
on the bed.

Gavrie turned back to them and
could see they were near to collapsing as well and told the other wizard he
thought they would be better of in bed in this room along with angel. The
wizard looked at them nodded his head and then indicated the other beds to
them.

Gavrie left them to the wizard
and walked out thinking of how to let them do what they have been doing but
keeping them from getting hurt. He could not stop them for if he forbids them,
they would just find away around him so he was going to have to work with them.

There was the other part in him
that wanted to see where this was going to take them in the long run, and with
the first attack on the school he feels it won’t be the last and they just
might be what could be needed to stop what’s happening.

Heading back to his room he has
now got to let Tish know what has happened to Angel but also reassuring her
that he will take care of him and his friends. Tish would be worried but he is
sure he can get her not to worry and let him keep an eye on them. These are
strange days and they are going to get stranger still.

Back in the sick room Medwin,
Maive and Shylyn had got out of bed after the wizard had gone to get food for
them. They had gone over to Angel’s bed and stood around looking at him. They
could see Angel looking at them but not seeing them, the wizard had told them
that he will come out of it, when his magic had settled back down after the
shock.

It was the following morning when
Angel finally looked at them and this time they could see he was looking at
them. ‘Angel you’re back with us, we were so worried about you when you
collapsed on us. How do you feel now?’ Maive smiled as the relief on her face
showed.

‘I feel weak and hungry and I
feel as though something was torn out of me.’ He tried to sit up as he spoke
but was not succeeding so lay back down.

‘We could feel our magic flowing
into you to help see the spell but we could not feel the spell but we could sense
you following the spell till the moment you collapsed.’ Medwin looked at him
with a sparkle in his eyes at the feeling he got as they followed Angel along
the spell.

Angel tried to sit up again and
was having trouble till Shylyn helped him. ‘Thank you I feel so weak I hope
that food will be here soon?’

‘It should be on the way, the
wizard who looks after you says the shock will make you very hungry. He also
told us at our age we should not be doing so much magic as it will put us in to
magical shock. This is what happened to you.’ Medwin found he was just as
hungry.

‘It wasn’t magical shock or it
was but not caused by using too much magic. The weakened bit of spell that we
fixed I came to it and could feel that our magic had healed it and was just
going to move when it collapsed and that’s what knocked me into magical shock.
The Renegade Wizards broke what we fixed, we have to get back there when they
go and try and fix it otherwise they will make it bigger and we won’t be able
do anymore.’ There was a panicky look on his face as he spoke to them about it.
He knew they had to repair it before it got much bigger and this time they were
going to have to do it better.

He lay back down on the bed and
his thoughts went to Aura to see how she was for he could remember her coming
into help him when he started to panic so she would have been there when he was
knocked into shock. Then she was there with him and he could feel she had
suffered the same thing. Aura had gone into shock as well.

‘Are you alright I can feel you
suffered the magical shock as well?’ His feelings were threatening to overpower
him but he managed to control them.

‘I am ok now just hungry like you
and I have some food here beside me that the others caught for me. I will be
strong soon so don’t worry. The others have told me the wizards have gone and
from what they got from their dragon. The wizards are very weak from what they
did to the spell. Whatever happened to us might have got them as well. That
part of the spell just broke so fast; I could see what you were doing when the
spell broke.’ Aura now felt that everything was better as they come out of the
shock.

Just then the wizard returned
with the meal and he had brought a lot. He knew they would be very hungry for
magical shock you always come out of it hungry. They all sat around Angel’s bed
eating and talking of what they felt. They also told Angel what they told
Gavrie, for he had seen them bringing Angel in. So they had to tell him
something and this was the safest thing to tell him.

Magical Shock

It was two days before Angel was
allowed to go back to his room, but was still only allowed to do light work
with magic. So he just went into clearing the paths but found them perfectly
clear. Other times when he has done magic he has always found little blocks but
this time nothing. He was thinking maybe the shock cleared the paths for him.

Deciding he didn’t need to clear
his paths he might go up to the library and see what he could learn. Now they
knew the only way to free the dragon was to kill the Renegade so they were back
to looking for spells that would help them.

Heading up to the library he
bumped into Medwin, Maive and Shylyn all heading in the same direction.
‘Haven’t you lot lessons in the Crystal Chamber this morning. I thought I would
go to the library while you were in the chamber and I would find some spells or
try to anyway?’

‘Gavrie has been called away to a
meeting so we are to use our time in the library getting to know how to find
spells when needed.’ Medwin telling Angel as they all headed there.

‘Gavrie told us to make sure you
did no magic and to keep clearing the magic paths.’ Shylyn was smiling as she
told him knowing full well that Angel would not listen.

Getting to the library Angel was
telling them about looking for spells on healing whether it’s a person or a
spell that’s what they needed to find, also weapon spells as well. They carried
on looking at the master spell books hopping there might be books with spells
to help them.

Their dragons were always close
in their minds and there to help. Aura could see Angel was still a little worn
out but was otherwise fine. The same Angel found of Aura, they were going to be
like this for a couple more days so gave them time to finds spells.

After the meal there was a call
of dragon that rang through the halls, Angel had known who that would be and
headed for the door out to the deck. Sure enough it was his mother even he knew
she was the only Dragon Rider who would come to the school so often.

Getting to the door he was about
to go through when his mother come walking in. ‘Angel you’re ok let me look at
you, oh yes still a bit drawn but the colour is coming back that’s good. Your
friends look none the worse for wear, I’m glad your friends are fine?’ She was
leading them into the meal hall where she got some drinks for them all and sat
at the table and waited.

There was no talk for a while
till Tish spoke. ‘Well?’ She stared them down as she waited for there reasons.

‘We’re ok mum we lost ourselves
in the magic and I fell into Magical Shock so don’t worry. Now come on how many
attacks has the Hatchery and Rider School had since that first one?’ He side
stepped her worries with another worry of hers, the attacks.

‘We’ve had four attacks since and
each one there are more of the creatures from the Dark Realms. The Renegade
Wizards are opening gates into that realm and bringing more of them at each
attack.’ Her face showed them she was very worried about the attacks but
quickly smiled to cover it.

‘Is that where Gavrie is now
working with the riders to try and stop them opening gates. They surly aren’t
able to open the gates to far away for to try and control them would be hard?’
As he told her this Angel had an idea which he and his friends would check up
on before telling Gavrie.

Tish could see he was fine and
was starting to look tired so decided she would go and let them get some sleep.
‘I'll go now Angel but you be very careful and that goes for your friends as
well. You are the first at this age to come here so don’t go trying to hard let
it come to you and you will be fine. I will be back to see you when I can, your
brothers might be here sooner.’

They went with her to the door
and watched her left into the air and go. Walking back to their rooms Angel
told them what he was thinking. ‘Something mum said about the creatures needing
to be controlled made me think of something. To control the creatures over a
great distance and make sure they got to where they needed to be, they would
have to open the gate close to where the attack was going to take place.’

Medwin then come into the
conversation very quickly with what he thought Angel was about to say. ‘They
must have wizards close out at sea and over the mountains close to the
hatchery. If the Dragon Riders put patrols out in wide circle they would come
across the Renegade Wizards maybe before they could open the gates.’

‘Yes so if they worked out about
how far they could control the creatures they might be able to catch the
wizards. But our riders would need to carry wizards to help fight the Renegade
ones. We’ll have to tell Gavrie when he gets back that’s if they aren’t already
doing that.’ Angel gave a large yawn and headed of up to bed it had been a long
day and the next few days were going to be boring with not being able to do
real magic.

They headed off to see their
dragons as there was nothing for them to do here. While on their way they
contact their dragons and get them to meet them at the deck where the dragon
usually is. They walk the distance very quickly as they want to be with their
dragons. They get to the area of the spell to find they don’t need their magic
to see where it is. Where the spell is being attacked, there is now a hole in
the spell where rocks have fallen from the rock face.

This was not good and they knew
they were going to have to do something now with it before it got worse. Angel
went up to the spell and raised his hands to it; he places them on the edges.
Standing there with hands just touching he let his magic feel the edges of the
wound for that’s what it felt like to him.

‘Angel be careful your magic is
still not the best after what happened before, let us join with you just to
ease your magic?’ Shylyn looked worried and went to stand next to him and get him
to take their help.

‘It’s alright I was not going to
try anything at the moment, I just needed to touch and feel the edges of the
wound and see if I can get to feel the magic in it’s own form for that is the
only way we are going to fix it permanently.’ He come away and looked at them,
they had that worried look in their faces. But they did understand what they
had to do and they knew they were going to go into the spell with him next time
as they would not let him go by himself or with just Aura.

‘We can have another try at
fixing it and this time I will try and enter the magic as it heals the wound.’
With determination on his face he looked at Medwin, Shylyn and Maive knowing
they will be there to guard him and keep his strength up.

‘Well if we’re going to do this
it had better be now in case the Renegades come back.’ Medwin looking a bit
(here we go again) as he walked over to stand beside Angel.

They all stood beside him as he
gathered their magic to help strengthen him, their dragons were there with them
all the way. Angel placing his hands on the edges of the spell he let his magic
come to the tips of his fingers.

Placing his fingers lightly
against the edge of the wound in the spell he gently let his magic flow around
the wound. As he did this he gathered the magic from his friends and the
dragons and combined them and then started to knit the wound back together. He
did this slowly so he could do a strong job on it.
