Sensation shimmered through him, and the pressure rebuilt until he was back at the peak, almost at climax. She bit his shoulder. The blast of pain pitched him headlong over the precipice.

“Mine,” she growled as she fucked him through his orgasm. Her vaginal walls clamped down around his cock, milking his shaft for every drop of seed as she found her own release. On a scream, she came, rocking her body until she couldn’t move anymore. He panted as his heart tried to beat right out of his chest.

Rather than roll off her immediately, he peppered her face with kisses before moving to the other side of the bed. She pulled up the cover and cuddled up against him. “Mine,” she said again as she laid her head on his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and placed a kiss on the top of her head. Yes. He was all hers. Always.

Chapter Seven

Louisa rolled over and stretched. Sunlight streamed through the curtains. Whisper jumped up onto the bed and padded toward her, picking her way over her body until she sat down on her chest. “Hey there. Did you find a place to hide and sleep?” She scratched behind the cat’s ears and smiled as the Persian purred loudly in response.

“Merow,” the cat replied before jumping off her and onto the floor.

It took Louisa a moment to realize she was alone in bed. A glance to the other side of the mattress showed that it had been slept on, but Tor wasn’t there. She could smell coffee and the remnants of last night’s sex drifting on the air. Her stomach rumbled as hunger pangs hit her.

She groaned and climbed out of bed. After throwing on a robe she padded downstairs and into the kitchen. Her steps halted as she took in Tor at the stove wearing only an apron. Louisa’s gaze was glued to his muscular backside. Again she had the urge to take a bite out of one of the cheeks and mark him as hers.

She held back a groan of appreciation as a sense of weakness slipped through her legs. Louisa grabbed a chair before she slid to the floor and sat there watching him. He moved with grace and ease, as if he’d been in her kitchen many times before and knew where everything was. It was such a comforting feeling that for a moment she wanted that to be true, to come home with him every night and wake up with him every morning. Was that what it was like to find a mate? She wasn’t sure but she knew they still had a long way to go. There was so much she didn’t know about him and he of her. It was the beginning steps of a relationship, and she was looking forward to it.

She knew it would be an adjustment from being such a solitary person, and yet it felt so natural to let him and Brent and Fletcher into her life. There was no pressure to conform or change. It was so easy.

“Good morning, honey. Are you just going to sit there staring at my ass, or are you going to tell me what you want for breakfast?” He turned around, a smile on his face.

The small gesture sent warmth flooding through her chest as her heart skipped a beat. Licking her lips, she paused to mull over his words. Her stomach rumbled again. “How about I let you make me something? Anything? As you can hear, I’m hungry. You and the other two members of the Trio of Trouble fucked me out.”

Despite not feeling any pangs or aches from last night, she did feel a bit stiff and worn out. She could do with another night’s sleep but knew Rune wouldn’t give her the day off. It would be the morning after New Year’s rush, and there would be people with hangovers and wanting hair of the dog or a lot of food to help get their strength back. Besides that, she wanted to hear the gossip from the night’s festivities. She knew there would be a lot of stories and juicy scandals. “I’ll help you by setting the table and serving you coffee.”

“Fine, and while you do that you can tell me more about yourself. You told me other felines fear you. What’s that about?” He went to the refrigerator and took out eggs, bread, and bacon.

Just seeing the food made her even hungrier. She prayed he would be making French toast but didn’t request it, letting him take the lead.

“I’m not close to my parents. It’s common knowledge that tiger parents don’t normally stay together. They usually will remain until the offspring is mated off, whether it’s a natural or political pairing. My parents thought it would be best to pair me off with an Alpha male tiger who wanted a harem and not a relationship. I refused to agree to it and fought him and won. He had enough sway to declare me an exile from my own people. Which suited me fine, since I didn’t feel the urge to be around other felines.” She paused and waited for his response.

All Tor did was nod, not giving her any indication as to how he felt hearing her story. “So you found your way to Rune and you got a job here. But do you want to be a waitress all your life? Don’t you want to do something else? I know Fletch wants to run his own cyber café-slash-bookstore.”

She smiled as she imagined Fletcher owning his own business. He was smart enough, and she knew he was taking business courses online and working during the day to make ends meet. “What about Brent?”

“He’s still floating around, unsure of what to do. I’m sure he’ll find something.” He opened up cabinet doors to bring out spices. Tor cracked a few eggs and mixed in the spices while cooking up bacon in another pan.

“And what about you?” She was curious to see where he saw himself in the future.

“Me?” He threw a grin over his shoulder at her. “I want to own my own bar. Nothing to rival Rune’s place of course, but I want to create a hangout for the dragons that are coming into town. I want to help them find their footing and give them a place of their own. It’s been a long time since the dragons have been among people. They need all the help they can get.”

She was impressed and loved his idea. “Maybe I can create a place for the tigers and other felines coming in too. They don’t really know the area, and this place is out of the way enough for them to feel safe, but they don’t feel comfortable being in town for long. Maybe I should start thinking of it. Even try to mend fences with a few of the local cats.”

She mulled the idea. The fact that she even entertained mixing with other felines sounded pretty good but she wanted to go slowly.

“I’ll help in any way I can. We all will, I’m sure.” He continued to cook as she moved around the kitchen. She set the table, poured the coffee and orange juice, and went out and grabbed the paper before the dog down the street decided to snatch it for its chew toy. She returned to the scent of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and bacon drifting on the air. Louisa had to resist the urge to salivate.

“Here’s the paper. I’m going to shower before I attack the food without letting you finish.” She pressed a kiss to his bare shoulder and gave it a nip before drifting off. “I’ll make dinner tonight if you want to come over. Don’t answer now. Think about it.”

She ducked out before he said anything. All through her shower, all she could think of was that she’d invited him to dinner and even offered to cook. It was a scary thought that he could say no or that he could disappear due to fear that she was jumping the gun and going too fast. Louisa hoped he’d take her up on it.

She finished washing up and got dressed in a hurry just to make sure she hadn’t driven him away. It was a relief to find him still cooking. The table was already set with bacon, scrambled eggs, and French toast.

“First off, I’m not going anywhere. Now that you have me, you can’t get rid of me. And second, I’d love to come home with you for dinner. Let’s eat breakfast and get to the bar to help open up.” He left the stove, pulled out the chair for her, and gave her a kiss on the lips.

Tor served himself and took a seat at the table across from her. They spent the rest of their time talking about the news of the day before he took his own shower and they left on her bike. She was looking forward to the rest of the day.

“Now all we have to do is get you two matched up.” Louisa squeezed Brent and Fletcher’s arms and then wandered off to attend to customers for the lunch rush.

Tor looked after her, a grin on his face. He couldn’t have asked for a better woman to be his mate. He looked at his friends. “She’s right. You two need to find your mates. I won’t rest until I help find them.”

Brent snorted. “You can try but I have to admit, I do like to play the field.”

Tor rolled his eyes, knowing it was a front. “Yeah, yeah. Keep telling yourself that.”

Fletcher grinned. “If you can find me a mate, I’ll be forever grateful, but I think you and Louisa have your work cut out for you. Who’ll want a nerd with a kinky streak who doesn’t mind ménages?”

Tor shook his head. He knew someone was out there for each of his friends. “We’ll find them, don’t worry. Now let’s get working before Rune fires our asses. He doesn’t like us that much, even if he let us use the bar as a perverts’ playground.”

Brent and Fletcher chuckled and followed him to the main area. New Year’s Eve might be over but everyone was still in a party mood. Some hadn’t stopped the celebration.

“Happy New Year,” Tor greeted his first table as he took his order. His eyes darted to Louisa. A buzz went through his body as his dragon recognized his mate. Tor couldn’t hide the grin that he felt curling on his lips. It was indeed going to be a happy New Year, for him at least.
