He held the stone in his hand and thought of all the things he wanted to do, now that he didn’t have to watch over his shoulder for
Drucella
or other evil spirits.
Is it true? Is the amulet really mine?

“Let’s go home and make love,
Duella
. The excitement has aroused me.”

He stared at the amulet as a new thought assailed his mind.
I have been serving the dark one since I took the amulet from the witch’s neck and placed it around my own. He chose me to rid the world of his opposing evil.

He thought about all that had happened to him since he traveled to that time. He had found Miriam, became a businessman,
began
a new existence in a city that teemed with fresh blood. Perhaps the most amazing thing of all—he had fallen in love. He smiled.
The dark power has been grooming me to serve him. There is only room for one evil power to reign.

Miriam kissed him and tugged on his arm, urging him to come.

He squeezed the amulet,
then
released it inside his shirt. Tomorrow he would visit the library and look through the bookshelf holding all the old volumes of books. He would research the amulet and perhaps learn more about its mysterious powers. He gazed down at Miriam, saw his future in her dark eyes,
felt
arousal grow inside him. “Would you have a vampire for a husband?”

“If you will have a vampire for a wife.”

“The bargain is agreed upon.”

“Come. Let’s go home.”

About the Author

I began writing freelance almost twenty years ago and eventually my short stories became longer. The characters seemed to take over and draw their stories out. I first submitted a novella length story to Extasy Books in 2003 and it was accepted. That was Captive Heart, the historical romance now on the site. I have thirteen titles with Extasy Books. New ideas come to mind every day and some of them find their way on to the computer screen. When I’m not writing, I enjoy traveling with my husband Dave.
