He turned his attention to me in anticipation.

“Stuff it,” I replied. I refused to play into his stupidity.

“She got caught fighting,” Abby offered. She can be such a chatterbox sometimes.

“Really?” Kurt said in mock amazement, “Fighting? She totally doesn’t seem like the type.”

“Yeah, I know,” Abby continued not catching his sarcasm, “but apparently Lindsay got caught in a fight with a norm. Even though Lindsay didn’t use her powers during the fight or anything, the police arrested her just because she was an Abnorm.”

“Well, shucks,” Kurt replied when she was finished, “that ain’t fair.”

“Yeah, I know,” Abby agreed, again not catching the sarcasm in his tone.

“What about you, sweetheart?” he asked, “Why did those big bad policemen lock you up?”

“I was taking the bus one night and this homeless guy sat next to me,” Abby said telling her story, “I kind of panicked when he put his hand on my leg and my flash went off. It blinded the bus driver and we crashed. When the police showed up they didn’t want to hear how some homeless guy was touching me, once they heard that I was an Abnorm, they placed the cuffs on me and dragged me here.”

“It’s a tragedy,” Kurt stated, seriously for what seemed to be the first time, “to think that a pedophile has more rights in this country than an innocent child with powers. It makes me sick.”

“I have to agree with you there,” I said.

“What about you, Jennie?” he said turning to Leslie.

“My name is Leslie,” he protested quietly.

“Whatever,” Kurt brushed it off, “I’ll bet you were caught peeping. You totally look like the type.”

Leslie looked appalled but couldn’t bring himself to say anything.

“You were probably looking into some young girl’s bedroom while she was changing,” he began, “and the police showed up and caught you with your pants unzipped and your shlong in your hands just going at it.”

He began making orgasm faces much to Leslie’s dismay. Leslie looked like he was in a state of shock; I had to put an end to this.

“Will you stop it?” I told him, “Before I make you.”

“Yes sir,” he replied immediately.

“Vandalism,” Leslie squeaked.

“What?” Kurt asked, as if he didn’t hear him.

“I said that I was arrested for vandalism,” Leslie repeated.

“Vandalism?” Kurt asked, “Really?”

“I didn’t mean to,” Leslie pointed out.

“This should be good,” Kurt laughed taking a seat on a bunk, “Go on, please continue.”

“I was just leaning up against the wall outside of a convenience store enjoying my Slurpee,” Leslie began but was interrupted by Kurt’s laughter, “What’s so funny?”

“Nothing,” Kurt laughed, “I’m just picturing you trying to look cool, hanging out sucking on a Slurpee.”

Leslie just ignored him and continued with his story, “I didn’t even realize that I had turned the whole wall lime green until the shop owner came out yelling at me in some foreign language. I tried to change it back to normal, but I got flustered and I couldn’t get my power to work. The police showed up and arrested me for vandalism.”

Kurt continued laughing, “Wow, that sucks almost as much as my story.”

We sat in a brief silence for a few seconds.

“Well, now that True Confessions are over,” Kurt said once everyone was finished, “We can see that we’ve all been arrested on bogus charges. The question remains – what are we going to do about it?”

“Simple,” I replied, “We’re breaking out.”
