Chapter 6: Ways You Never
Knew You Co
uld Raise Your Score

You can actually
ask credit card companies to get rid of problems on your credit report even if
you are actually in the wrong. What you want to do is simply call or write to
the credit card company directly. Let them know that you understand you were
late on a payment but point out your history and show that you have not been
late in the past and you made a one-time mistake. (If you have been late
frequently they probably won’t work with you as much.).

Now if you have
never made this mistake before or if you have rarely done it the credit card
company may be willing to wave a late payment. This would mean that they take
the late payment remark from your history and you may not even have to pay a
fine. But by taking off the mark on your history they are improving your credit
score. That one little late payment can be a big problem and it can result in
your score taking a big hit. If it gets
removed
you no
longer have to worry about it and your credit score could go up quite a bit.

Keeping old
accounts open is another important way that you can improve your credit score.
The oldest accounts that you have are actually improving your credit, whether
they are positive or negative. What this means is you could have a long history
of late payments with your oldest account but you’re getting more positive
marks on your credit from that account being so old than you are negative marks
for the late payments. You don’t ever want to close your oldest account unless
you have no way around it. This account is doing great things for you.

Now if you have
multiple accounts that are very close to the same age and one has a lot of
negative marks you can close it. What you don’t want to do is close the only
account you have that’s older than two years. (Of course, the older the account
is the better it is for you.) Only close this account if there’s an important
reason for it or if you have another account that is very close to the same age
and is giving you the same benefits when it comes to account history.

All those ‘free
quote’ websites are actually hurting your credit score as well. You need to
make sure that you are not signing up for a lot of those quotes. Even when
you’re searching for something like car insurance or health insurance you need
to be careful. Free quotes may sound great but how do you think they’re able to
give you that quote? They need to know a little more about you in order to give
you something that they can guarantee and that means they run your credit
history and check out your credit score. That helps them to know whether you’ll
pay your bills or not and that affects your quote.

Pay your balance
more than once a month. A lot of people use their credit cards for everything.
That’s either because it’s easier to use instead of having to carry around a
lot of cash, or because you just want to keep raking in rewards points that you
can use for other things. Those are perfectly good reasons and if you’re paying
off the card every month you’re not getting late charges or anything like that
which is a benefit to you. On the other hand, you could be hurting your credit
utilization rate.

Now you may be
thinking, I pay it off every month so how could I be hurting my credit score?
Well, when your bank or credit union sends you a bill they are telling you how
much money you owe. That amount is also being sent to the credit reporting
agency, which uses it to calculate your credit utilization rate. If your
balance is $500 and you owe $500 then your utilization rate is 100% and that’s
going to look really bad on your credit report. It’s going to lower your score
by quite a bit.

What you want to
do is make more than one payment per month. If your balance at the end of the
month is lower than the
limit
then you’re going to
have a better utilization rate. The lower the rate you have the better it’s
going to look on your score, so make sure that you’re paying as much as you can
for each of your payments. That way, no matter when your credit card company
sends in the balance owed, you won’t get a big hit on your credit report and
you’ll be able to keep your score higher, where you want it to be.

Black hair does grow, and it can even become
long. The issue is that numerous individuals experience difficulty holding
length, which is a major contrast from not growing.

The standard growth rate for hair is 1/2 inch every
month, so if you are experiencing breakage then it can seem as though your hair
is not growing. The key to accomplishing long hair includes embracing a basic,
yet compelling hair care regimen. To get a generous length, you should nurture
hair growth while avoiding stresses on the hair; such as excessive flat
ironing, blow drying, and brushing. Below you’ll discover 20 amazing secrets to
grow longer hair in no time.

Secret #1
Growing Longer Hair is about
Holding Length.

The first key on your journey to growing longer
hair is to prevent breakage and over the top shedding. The coarser the hair
texture the more it will take care and persistence in retaining length compared
to others.

Did you know that, the main living part of your
hair is the root? The root is located under the skin; thusly, when you are
growing your hair you are saving the length of the follicle, while inside
dealing with the root.

Secret #2
Let Your Scalp Breathe!

When growing your hair, you’ll want to avoid
excessive amounts of oils, greases, and balms. It is true, that Black hair
blossoms with hydration; but it is important that you let your scalp relax. The
over build-up of products is not good, and doesn’t promote long healthy hair.
In the event that the pores on your scalp are stopped up, the follicle
underneath the skin is being smothered.

Secret #3
Use A Gentle Shampoo

The third secret to grow long hair, is to start
with a good wash. Avoid washing your hair with sulfate-based cleansers, which
will strip your hair of natural oils. You’ll need to be aware of the hair
products you are utilizing. In order to promote healthy hair, wash your hair
every 4-7 days with sulfate and paraben free shampoo. Washing hair stimulates
the blood circulation to the scalp and eliminates product build-up, so that
your scalp can breathe. Beginning with a great wash routine is the beginning to
the development of long healthy hair.

Secret #4
Condition, Condition,
Condition!

African American women have a tendency to have
curly new-growth. These wavy roots make it troublesome for your hair's natural
oils to move down the hair shaft and saturate the length of your hair. Below
you’ll find some helpful tips to condition your hair effectively:

Try
co-washing. Amid your day by day shower, wash your hair with conditioner only.
Then, shampoo and condition your hair once a week.

Use
a leave-in conditioner for additional moisture after your day by day co-wash.

Deep
condition once every two weeks. Conditioners containing olive, avocado or sweet
almond oil are great, and work well. Play around with various hair products and
see what works best for your hair by and by. Try not to be reluctant to move
out of the "ethnic" hair aisle, you may find something that works for
you.

Apply
warmth to your hair and wear a shower cap while you wait - heat activates the
conditioner. You can sit under a hooded dryer or wrap your head in a towel that
has been absorbed with hot water; or you can likewise let your body heat
condition your hair.

Avoid
getting conditioner on your scalp. The conditioner can stop up your pores and
cause alopecia, inflamed hair follicles, or even hair loss.

Secret # 5
Stay Away
From
Heat

While the occasional use of the flat iron and
hair curling tool is typically fine, as long as the heat is not too high; heat
styling should be minimized as much as possible. Pick hair styles that don't
depend on such a great amount of heat.

Secret # 6
Avoid Blow Drying Like
The
Plague

Keep away from blow drying your hair at all
costs. Not only is blow drying terrible for your hair and scalp due to the
extreme heat, additionally the majority of the yanking, and pulling that comes
along with it makes blow drying amongst the most harming things you can do to
your hair. Despite the fact that air drying your hair takes additional time,
it's healthier and has more advantages for your hair than using a blow dryer.
Air dry your hair; it is a lot less stress on your luscious locks.

Secret # 7

The entertaining thing is that numerous natural
hair growth products are in the same stores, for instance coconut oil, grape
seed oil, and olive oil and that's only the tip of the iceberg. They are
typically only a few shopping aisles away; it's just that they are not marketed
as "natural hair growth products."

Secret #9
Pay Attention
To
Those Ends

A lot of times we give don’t give careful
consideration to the oldest portion of our hair, the ends. If you want to
develop longer hair, you’ll need to get your ends trimmed or dusted ¼ to ½
inch, nothing more. By getting your hair trimmed it disposes of dry, harmed and
split ends which can work their way up the shaft of your hair, bringing about
significantly more harm. In the event that your beautician demands trimming off
inches of hair each time you go in for a visit, your hair won't get longer, so
either locate an expert who sees precisely the amount of hair you require
removed or figure out how to trim your hair yourself. Contingent upon the

trims.
