Her shoulders dropped. She blurted, “In the morning?”

Mac chuckled. “Yeah.”

The studio didn’t open until ten. Although she got there at
nine, on most days he didn’t arrive until eleven or so. “Do you have an early
shoot I forgot to book?”

“Nope. See you at six. Sweet dreams.”

“Ah yeah, you too. Bye.”

Nothing. Had he ended the call? She listened hard and heard
absolutely nothing. He was gone.

Jodi pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at the
thing as though it might answer the many questions she suddenly had.

* * * * *

The following morning, Mac was searching for a place to park
when he spotted Jodi a few feet from the curb. Purse in hand, she waited in the
shadows.

He checked the time. Five minutes to six. He had to wonder
how long she’d been out there.

Before he had a chance to stop his car, Jodi was already in
the street, headed his way. Mac hit his brakes and the door locks, opening
them. He would have gone around and got the damn door for her, but she was
already tugging it open and scooting inside.

“Hi,” she said, then fooled with her seat belt rather than
looking at him.

Mac drummed his fingers against the steering wheel,
wondering if she was having regrets about their kiss. When he’d called her last
night, she’d sounded weird. Kind of turned-on but also wary and sad. His mood
hadn’t been much better. He’d been fresh from his battle with Krista, trying to
get her home. Once there, he’d finally laid down the law to her.

“We are not going out together,” he’d said calmly yet
firmly. “We are never going out together. Please move on.”

She hadn’t taken the breakup of their nonexistent
relationship very well. After calling him a string of foul names, she’d slammed
the door so hard his car windows shook. Then she stormed off to the mansion her
parents had bought her as a gift for her eighteenth birthday.

She’d always had the world laid out before her, everything
for the taking, while Jodi was forced to drive a car that was held together by
rust and dirt.

Mac turned down the sports show he’d been listening to. “How
long were you waiting outside?”

She lifted her shoulders. “Just a few minutes.”

“Don’t do that again.”

With his harsh tone, Jodi finally turned to him. Her eyes
looked bright yet soft behind her lenses, her mouth as kissable as it had been
last night. Today, she wore a gray tee with pink sparkles around the neck,
along with her usual jeans and sandals. She smelled of violet perfume and
floral shampoo. Her hair was freshly washed, the fiery tresses thick and
glossy.

Mac wanted to bury his face in them so badly his body hurt.
Rather than jump on her and screw everything up, he ran his thumb down her
cheek and gentled his tone. “I don’t want you waiting for me outside. I’ll come
to your door and knock, all right?”

Jodi’s throat bobbed with her swallow. Her lids started to
slip down. “I don’t mind.”

“I do. I’m the boss. Got it?”

Her lips parted. “Uh-huh.”

God, he couldn’t stand it. After a quick glance that told
him the street was empty, Mac leaned over and kissed Jodi. Deep. Wet. Hard.

She gripped his thigh as Krista had done last night. While
Krista’s touch had been irritating as hell, Jodi’s fingers were fucking magic.
His cock kept getting longer, snaking toward her hand.

Nowhere near sated, Mac broke the kiss before he did
something he shouldn’t, particularly on a public street. He calmed himself as
well as he could and put his car into drive.

Curling her fingers into a loose fist, Jodi finally pulled
back her hand.

Mac sensed her reluctance in doing so, as though she missed
touching him as much as he missed touching her. Warning himself not to push
her, he said, “You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you?”

“Ah…no.” She cleared her throat. “I brought a candy bar,”
she added, her voice still husky. “I thought I’d eat it on the way.”

“Don’t.”

She put her purse back on the floor. “Sure, not a problem.
But I had planned to be careful. I wouldn’t mess up your car.”

Mac laughed then frowned. “Fuck the car. And the candy. I
have something better in mind.”

“Dilli’s serves breakfast dogs?”

“Haven’t a clue.”

“Oh…then what?”

He winked at her. “You’ll see.”

She regarded him throughout the drive, glancing away only
when Mac turned to her. When they’d reached the parking lot, Jodi sighed at the
huge oil splotch from her car.

Touched by what she was going through, Mac patted her knee.
“It’ll be okay. The garage I use does wonders.”

“Maybe for a Mercedes.”

“Everything will work out. Would I let you down?”

She didn’t answer. Mac parked and looked over. For once,
Jodi held his gaze, her own thoughtful.

Not certain what she was thinking, he could only manage a
small smile. “What?”

“You wouldn’t mean to let me down. You’re not a deliberately
cruel man.”

And that left him as what? An absently cruel one? Unwilling
to ask, Mac said, “Hope you’re hungry.”

“We’re going to the organic food store?”

“God no. Better.”

Jodi asked no more as he led her to the studio. Once Mac had
flipped on the lights, she gaped at the feast he’d spread out before leaving to
pick her up. There was a tray of bagels, both plain and the designer kind with
fruit or seasonings. Tubs of cream cheese in a variety of flavors. Melon and
cantaloupe balls. Bananas. Apple slices dusted with cinnamon. A pot of steaming
coffee, a pitcher of orange juice, plates, plastic utensils, napkins, moist towelettes,
cups.

All of it on the floor in front of the sofa.

Mac turned on the radio.

Jodi lifted her face at the music. The same soft rock that
had played at Dilli’s last night. Turning to him, she smiled. “This is nice.”

Hell, it was much better than that. Puffed up by her
approval, Mac crossed the room, wanting her so badly even his teeth ached.

The first tune ended and a new one began. Not as soft or as
romantic.

Smiling self-consciously, Jodi sank to the floor. Mac joined
her, leaning against the sofa as she did while they dug into the food.

“Wow.” She bit into her cinnamon-crunch bagel again. “This
is freaking awesome.”

Smiling, he wiped cream cheese from the corner of her mouth
and licked it from his finger. “Do the glasses ever come off?”

Jodi stopped chewing. “Sure. They’re not welded on or
anything.”

“I mean can you see anything at all without them?”

“Not really far away.”

They weren’t only close but shoulder-to-shoulder, their
sandals off, legs stretched out, his little toe playing with hers.

After a moment, her toe played back.

“Take them off,” he said.

Jodi finished her chew and swallowed before she did.

“Look at me,” he ordered.

Again, she hesitated then finally obeyed.

A wave of delight hit Mac hard. Her eyes were lovelier than
he’d thought. There were flecks of green mixed in with the hazel tint,
complementing her gorgeous hair and the freckles sprayed across her nose. “Your
eyes are beautiful. Unbelievably expressive. Have you ever considered wearing
contacts?”

A bright red flush continued to creep up her throat. “Can’t
afford them.”

Mac didn’t understand. “You didn’t sign up for vision with
your medical?”

“I did but…” She hesitated. “Disposable contacts are more of
a luxury to me than a necessity. I’ve got rent, utilities, student loans and now
my car to worry about. Even when I was a teen and wanted contacts badly, I
didn’t ask my parents for them. They worked so hard it seemed foolish to bug
them for something I didn’t really need.”

Mac wondered about growing up like that. He’d never wanted
for anything that money could buy. He’d always had too much stuff. After a
while, it all became invisible to him. “Your parents had a tough time of it?”

“Not as much as now.” She ran her finger over the rim of her
bagel, capturing a dab of cream cheese.

Mac wanted to ask what she meant but didn’t want to seem as
though he was grilling her. “If you want to talk about it, I’ll listen. If not,
that’s cool too. Whatever’s good for you.”

After licking her finger, she murmured, “Dad lost his
manufacturing job when his company shipped the work overseas. For nearly two
years, he couldn’t get anyone to hire him. He’s a hard worker but everyone kept
saying that his skills were obsolete or he was too qualified, which means he’s
too old.” She frowned then sighed. “This place in Encino finally hired him. He
drives a delivery truck and stocks convenience stores with chips, candy and
other stuff. It’s a crappy job with weird hours and no benefits. If it weren’t
for my mom’s pay, they wouldn’t be making it.”

Mac sipped his coffee, not knowing how to comment. He felt
inadequate and slightly guilty because he’d had so much. “What’s your mom do?”

“She’s a part-time cashier at a grocery chain. She keeps
begging for more hours but can’t get them so she has to sell Avon stuff on the
side. I bought as much as I could of the products to help her out.”

He smiled. What an amazing daughter her parents had. “I have
noticed how good you smell.”

Jodi chuckled. “Avon would be pleased to hear that.” She
grabbed a melon ball. “What do your parents do?”

Mac spoke of them so infrequently it was a moment before he
could get started. “Dad owns an IT company in Silicon Valley. Last I heard,
he’s worth a couple of billion. Mom inherited her millions early so she’s never
worked.”

Jodi’s mouth hung open. She closed it quickly and asked,
“They’re actually that rich?”

“Yep.”

“You don’t seem impressed.”

“It’s only money.”

“Well yeah, but…” She popped the melon ball in her mouth,
chewed slowly then swallowed. “Don’t you guys get along?”

“You mean do I see them on a regular basis?”

“Yeah.”

He ran his toes over hers. Jodi smiled.

Her reaction to his touch meant more to Mac than his
parents’ wealth, not that he could confess such a thing to her. “Dad’s on his
sixth—no wait—his seventh marriage. Mom’s working on her fifth. They had kids
with a couple of their numerous spouses. I was the first, so they’ve been kind
of busy with other people since then.”

Her smile had already frozen and looked deeply pained. “I’m
so sorry.”

“About what?”

“Your family—your lack of one. It must have been tough
growing up. Are you close to your siblings?”

“Not really. They live all over the world.”

“How sad.”

Mac grinned self-consciously then joked, “Hey I survived. It
wasn’t that awful.”

Jodi didn’t look convinced. She rested her hand on his
thigh. “You must have been so lonely at times.”

Well yeah, but he’d been that way most of his life and had
just accepted being by himself as normal. After he’d gone crazy over women in
college, Mac had lost himself in his work. Right now, he couldn’t have cared
less about photography or his family. His head buzzed from her fingers stroking
him. “I like this song.”

Jodi looked over at the radio, her expression saying she
just noticed the music—a lyrical oldie with soft strains and subdued bass, the
singer crying the words, making a listener’s heart break.

Mac wrapped his fingers around hers and pushed to his feet.
She looked up, her gaze questioning.

“Dance with me?” he asked.

Surprise and pleasure flooded her face. On her feet, Jodi
wrapped her arms around his shoulders and melted into him, her breasts snug
against his chest, her lips on his throat, their hips joined.

Mac lifted his face toward the ceiling and swallowed hard.
Her softness, scent and heat sent his pulse racing. Need tore through him,
indescribable in its intensity. He couldn’t touch her enough. His hands slid
down her back, over her ass, then went back up again to take the same journey.

They swayed to the music, not really dancing, but who the
fuck cared? Within Jodi’s embrace, Mac felt protected somehow. She suckled his
throat as though she’d never tasted anything better.

Shit, he was on fire, his senses sharper than they’d ever
been. He heard each breath she took. His body registered the damp heat of her
lips and tongue. He inhaled deeply, pulling in her sweet scent, drowning in her
musk.

“I want you,” he said, unable to help himself.

Jodi stilled.

Aw shit. He’d pushed her too fast. Now he’d have to start
over and convince her he was a good guy, she could take a chance on him and—

“I want you too,” she whispered.

Mac froze, uncertain he’d heard her correctly. He eased back
and studied her face.

Jodi’s cheeks flushed with what might have been desire or
embarrassment. Mac wasn’t sure which.

Unable to stand the suspense, he asked, “What?”

She smiled softly. Wonder and yearning shimmered in her
eyes. “I want you so much.”

Before Mac could respond, Jodi sank to her knees, her hands
moving to the waistband of his jeans.

Chapter Five

It was like watching herself in a dream.

Hard lust was something Jodi engaged in during her
fantasies, never in real life. Doubt and longing had always dogged her days.

Not now. Another surge of tenderness hit, giving Jodi the
courage to follow her heart.

Mac wasn’t only the most physically beautiful man she’d ever
known, he was a genuinely good guy. Kind. Generous. As surprisingly lonely as
she’d been. She’d recognized his melancholy when he’d spoken of his family.
Parents and siblings who were nothing more than strangers, living so far away,
not staying in touch.

How could anyone do that to him? What in the hell was the
matter with them?

Overcome with emotion, she wrapped her arms around his
narrow hips and snuggled her face into his hard belly. It quivered with his
sharp intake of breath. His cock stiffened, pressing against her.

She nestled closer in return and inhaled deeply, loving how
he smelled. The fresh scent of fabric softener clung to his tee, mingling with
the cologne he always wore and his own unique fragrance. So male her skin
tingled.

“Jodi?” His voice rasped as though it was a struggle for him
to speak. “What are you doing?”

Prolonging the moment. Recording each sound and smell,
the hard contours of his body, the impressive thunder of his heart.
These
minutes were such a miracle Jodi needed to store them deep inside to revisit in
the future when her time with him was over.

And it would be. Sleeping with Mac was light-years away from
getting a commitment from him or them becoming close friends. That should have
bothered the hell out of her.

Although caution and good sense edged close, Jodi pushed her
doubt away, unable to deny herself any longer. She was willing to face future
hurt for what little she could have now. Dumb, she knew, but she was helpless
against this.

“Enjoying you.” She finally answered him.

Soft laughter rumbled in Mac’s chest. “There’re all sorts of
goodies beneath my clothes. Give me a sec and you’ll see.” He tried to slip his
fingers past her shoulder to his fly.

Jodi eased his hand away. “I’ll do it.” She kissed his palm
then asked, “Should we worry about the windows and lights?” From a distance,
people outside could see in to the second-story windows. No way did she want
their passion to cause a car accident.

He swallowed loudly at her tonguing the pads of his fingers.
“We’re too far up for anyone to see in from the sidewalk and too far away from
the windows for anyone else to spot us unless they’re in a helicopter hovering
nearby. Even if they did that, the sun’s already up and shining against the
glass.”

By god, it was. The first rays had already spilled into the
room, their brightness strengthening with each moment. No doubt they also
reflected off the glass to hide whatever went on in here.

She released his hand and pushed up his navy tee to expose
his belly. Short dark hairs swirled around his navel and trickled in a thin
line to his groin. Jodi traced them with her tongue.

Mac made a noise between a grunt and a groan. Turned-on,
yeah, but also sounding as though he wanted her to get a move on.

But Jodi had dreamed of this for too long to race through
it. She slipped the metal disc through its opening and eased down his fly. His
snug underwear was the same shade of blue as his tee. She trailed her
fingertips over the soft cotton.

The bulge between Mac’s legs grew bigger, harder.

He huffed out his breath. “Hurry.”

She couldn’t. With her thumbs beneath the waistband of his
jeans and underwear, Jodi moved carefully, some would say casually, as she
guided both down past his hips, pausing when she’d reached his hairy groin.

God, god, god.
It was far better than she’d imagined,
the hair black and bushy, masculine to the extreme. Jodi’s throat constricted,
not allowing her to swallow. She pressed her nose to his thatch of hair and
moaned at its wonderful fragrance. Clean yet musky. The room whirled.

Mac groaned. “Take me in your mouth.”

Not yet.
They had hours and hours before anyone would
arrive.

She slid Mac’s clothes down, freeing his cock. It sprang
out, the crown grazing Jodi’s jaw. Her mouth sagged open. His rod was long and
meaty, ruddy in color with thick veins coursing up the hard shaft. The satiny
head was a darker red, the cap glutted with passion that pushed a tiny pearl of
pre-cum from the small slit at the top.

Pulling in a strangled breath, she stared at his balls.
Plump and lightly furred, just as Jodi had pictured them, the sac snuggled so
close to his body it betrayed his excitement for this and for her.

“Good god,” she murmured. “Do you have any idea how gorgeous
you are?”

“What? No. Who cares about that?” He panted. “I’m gonna die
if you don’t suck me.”

Smiling, Jodi cupped Mac’s rod in her palm, holding it with
reverence. How any straight woman could resist this part of a man was a mystery
to her. Jodi knew if she had her own cock, she’d play with it all day.

His shaft continued to come alive in her loving embrace,
lengthening a bit more, its girth widened. Fascinated, she stared at the
transformation then licked the drop of pre-cum from the slit. Mac pushed to his
toes. Jodi sighed. His lubrication was slightly salty, the same as his skin.

He dropped back to his heels and growled.

“No more waiting,” she promised.

“Thank—
god.”

She’d taken his right ball into her mouth, determined to
enjoy it and the other first. His cock would be her dessert.

Mac made a choking noise at her tongue dragging over his
wrinkly skin, exploring the contours of his hair-roughened sac. His nut was
amazingly hot, nicely heavy in her mouth and smelled heavenly. Feral and
uncivilized. Not wanting him to stumble away, Jodi gripped his ass then had a
better thought and slid her fingers into the furrow between his cheeks.

“Motherfuck,” he groaned.

With great care and undeniable tenderness, Jodi suckled his
ball. Not only because she craved this but wanted to distract him from what
else she’d planned. Little by little, she eased her fingers toward his anus.
When she’d reached the tight ring, Jodi stroked once then probed it gently.

Mac froze. Even his noisy huffs stopped.

Oh crap.
She’d thought he’d love her playing with
this part of him. Worried, Jodi jerked her hand away.

Mac shuddered. He planted his hands on either side of her
head and snarled, “Why’d you stop? Don’t fucking stop.”

She tongued his nut from her mouth and looked up. His head
hung between his shoulders. Several strands of hair dangled over his forehead
and grazed his cheeks. His complexion was so dark it looked as though he’d been
holding his breath.

“You like that?” she asked. “You don’t mind me messing
with—?“

“Don’t. Stop.” He pulled in a huge breath then panted it out
like a dog that had run several miles. “Do whatever the fuck you want. Please.”

“Alrighty then.”

Mac laughed then barked a curse as Jodi took his other ball
into her mouth, lavishing it with attention. When she worked the tip of her
little finger into his anus, Mac wiggled and gasped but he let her use every
part of him as her personal playground.

His body heat was amazing, his reactions all over the place.
He yielded to her for a few seconds then suddenly tightened his anus around her
finger. When Jodi started to withdraw her hand, he relaxed, allowing her to
explore him further.

Attuned to his needs, she did her best to please him, at
last guiding his cock into her mouth.

He went still as a corpse again, his hands going slack on
her head. Then he whooped in delight. “Yes. Holy shit,
yes.
Don’t you
dare stop.”

As if she could. Jodi opened her throat so she could take
all of him inside. It wasn’t easy. Mac was a big guy. Not freakishly long like
a porn star, whose cock had its own zip code. He was definitely normal but
still huge. Determined and aroused beyond anything she’d known, Jodi took him
in, inch by luscious inch.

His growl, grunt, groan and sigh said he enjoyed her avid
attention to his pleasure.

Encouraged, Jodi edged forward, slipping more of him into
her mouth. Not wanting to neglect the rest of him, she eased her finger deeper
into his anus and cradled his balls with her free hand.

A string of oaths burst from Mac. He stiffened and sounded
as if he could barely breathe.

Good. Killing him with carnal bliss was her goal, along with
giving him what every man coveted. A blowjob from heaven.

She had a bit more to go before he was fully within her
mouth. Perspiration coated the back of her neck and the area beneath her
breasts. Despite the air-conditioning, the room seemed unbearably hot. Jodi
needed to swallow but didn’t, wanting his pleasure more than her own comfort.
On one last, determined move, she closed the scant space that separated them.
The tip of her nose touched his hairy groin, his fragrance filling her.

Mac groaned loud enough to set off car alarms.

Jodi didn’t take time for a single sigh. As she worked her
finger in his anus and fondled his weighty balls, she eased back to gently
release his cock from her mouth then took him inside again, her tongue
worshipping him.

He babbled something she didn’t catch, his actions telling
Jodi all she needed to know. His body went rigid, weak then rigid once more. A
dribble of sweat ran down his belly. He gripped her skull as though he needed
it for support.

She offered herself gladly as her tongue glided over his
full length and her mouth used him in a way her pussy never could.

His balls fattened and constricted within her caress,
telling Jodi he was a breath away from climax.

He fought it.

First he held his breath. Jodi counted off the seconds,
wondering how long he’d last as she swirled her tongue around his shaft and
head.

He made it to six before he puffed out his air and groaned.

Next he stiffened, as though that would tame the nerve
endings in his precious rod.

Jodi’s next licks on his shaft and crown proved it hadn’t.

Finally Mac drove his fingers through her hair and cupped
the back of her head. He squirmed at her teasing his anus. When she finally
went for broke and tongued the bumpy skin on the back of his crown, a guttural
sound rushed from him, followed seconds later by his yowl of delight.

At last he was hers.

Thick, creamy cum spurted into Jodi’s mouth. She drank it
greedily, sucking him dry, licking him clean.

Mac’s legs wavered. He wheezed out a breath then gasped for
more.

“Hold on to my shoulders,” she murmured.

He gripped her head even tighter.

Good enough. Jodi pushed his clothes down to his feet. His
thighs and calves were strikingly muscular, pleasantly hairy, his bronze skin
unbroken by tan lines, undoubtedly because he swam in the nude. God.

“I gotta sit,” he panted.

“Oh sure. Sorry. Hold on to me while I help you with your
clothes.”

He dug his fingers into her skull.

She winced. “Ah, hold on to my shoulders. Please.”

Once he’d gripped her there, she worked fast, tugging his
jeans and boxer briefs off one foot then the other. With the garments free of
him, she tossed them aside.

Mac sank so fast, his knees cracked against the floor. Jodi
made a face at the awful sound.

“You okay?”

He gagged out a “yes.”

She grabbed a towelette and tore open the small packet.

Mac struggled with his tee, trying to get it off, failing
miserably. The shirt was stuck on his head and elbows.

“Give me a sec,” she said, cleaning her hands with the
moist, lemony-scented square. “I’ll help.”

He muttered something Jodi didn’t understand and fought the
garment, finally yanking it off.

A wayward sunbeam grazed his powerful tat, bruising biceps,
pecs and torso. Nothing but bronze skin and taut muscles, his abs so defined
they looked sculpted. Tuffs of black hair peeked from his pits.

The room twirled again.

Mac let out a prolonged sigh then gasped, “Thanks.”

She eased his hair behind his ear and touched his black
stud, liking how smooth it felt beneath her fingertips and how great the
earring looked on him. “My pleasure.”

“It will be.” He took another few minutes to calm his
breathing and to yawn lustily then finally lifted his face. His eyes were
hooded, his grin surprisingly alert and sinful. “Now it’s your turn.”

Jodi’s mouth went dry in anticipation and more than a little
dread at him seeing her naked in all this light. Suddenly the sun seemed
determined to violate the space, turning the pretty things hazy and golden
while revealing every defect in the not-so-pretty things. “You don’t need to
take a nap?”

“Sure. When I’m eighty. Right now I want you naked.” He
wiggled his eyebrows.

As cute as he looked, that didn’t persuade Jodi to strip.
“Can we actually do anything?” she blurted, suddenly remembering the obvious.
“I mean I’m not protected.” Until now, she’d had no reason to be. There hadn’t
been a lot of guys wanting to sleep with her.

Mac patted her thigh. “Got it covered.”

Jodi stared at his cock. All tuckered out from what she’d
done. She wanted to kiss it. “You’ve had a vasectomy?”

“Hell no.” He paused to yawn again then pushed to his feet,
wavering slightly.

Jodi reached out to catch him. “Are you all right?”

“Perfect.” He kissed her knuckles. “Be right back.” After
shuffling a few steps, Mac stopped and turned to her. “When I get back, I want
you wearing nothing but skin.”

Her pulse raced.

Studying her, he finally murmured, “Please.”

His sweet request brought tears to Jodi’s eyes, smearing her
vision even more. Without her glasses, he soon became a blur. From the sounds he
made, she guessed he’d gone into his office. He probably had a stash of condoms
there that he used when he slept with the perfect models he photographed, like
the ones who’d be here later to—
