I would have your most
honest opinion.”

Oliver looked up into a group of fluffy
clouds and let his mind run millions of scenarios at a time and
this lasted many minutes. “An interesting way to mend the fracture.
So in essence you wish to season your new troops with us not only
to gain battle experience, but also to merge our societies into a
mutual understanding?” Netul nodded to this observation. “Humans
are rash creatures and easily trust whereas yours is slow and
methodical and relies on long term observation. Are you trying to
also let the two races learn from each other?”

How do you
mean?”

Teach the Empire the virtue
of patience and your people the value of reacting based on emotion
and wit.”

Ah, yes then. It is long
past my people has been set in their ways. For too long have we
declared ourselves superior to the Empire. This is no longer the
case. They learn too quickly compared to us who has learned over
eons and feel we have reached our plateau. The Humans challenge our
concept of our own belief in superiority.

These past eighteen years
I’ve watched in wonder how well the Empire’s push against the Feral
has gone despite your far fewer numbers compared to ours. And the
aid of White Blossom’s Keptl warriors has made a far larger impact
when scaled in a similar setting. Already your people have freed a
thousand systems overrun with the mighty Feral…”

How many have
your
people liberated?”
this Oliver had wondered after severing all Creelin contact till
today.

An entire galaxy and
seventeen percent of another overall.”
Came
the honest answer.

Oliver let loose a whistle. “Numbers sure do
help increase the campaign.”

Indeed, My Friend.”
Netul chuckled in his alien way.
“I’ve put forth the Human’s term of an olive
branch offering. What say you?”

Oliver took a moment to find his world
because this was the pivotal moment. “Mistakes were made, but the
mark of a smart species rather than die out is to evolve. To do it
I must ensure our universe ceases its expansion and losing energy.
It is a great idea, but my city is going to be busy for the next
two million years and needs to be unmoving. I’ve pinpointed the
very center of our universe and have started a monumental project
with my grandsons and great grandsons. We’ve started building a
universal gravity stabilizer. Over the next two million years we’re
going to gradually stop universal expansion and start spinning the
universe. It will be gradual, but not bring the universe inward to
collapse. We’re going to make galaxies orbit the universal core
like a moon. It needs to be done or in eighty seven billion years
our known universe will die. All energy will be trapped and
recycled so we’ll be safe. If we need more energy we’ll create Dark
Matter to destroy mass and when energy fuses more matter we’ll keep
doing it till we can find other universal seeds and keep growing.
It’s going to be an endeavor someone should have done eons ago.

In a year, it’ll be
activated and I’ll be busy. Too busy to help out your idea,
especially since I’m also a teacher and I like it. I’ve got so many
bright students.”

And after our affairs are
settled, our own journey will continue.” Renee appeared and stood
behind her seated man. “We have a universe to save from itself. No
time like the present, but I like your idea of fighting together. I
don’t see many issues.”

I’m pleased to hear it. If
this is your way of saying farewell for a long time, may I ask for
one thing. Give me an honorable duel before we part.”

I was hoping you’d say
that.” The three stood and Renee backed off as Oliver drew the
sparkling cutlass and shield while Netul, from beneath the robes,
crafted two red Psi-blades rather than normal blue.

Ready.” Renee raised her
hand watching Oliver’s grinning face disappear behind a mask.
Netul’s eyes blazed a happy green before a remarkable helmet of
gold covered his head. “Begin.” Her hand dropped and both men
charged with respect for each other that went beyond time and
space.
