Check on it…

Chelle woke up early the next morning, got her day started.  She went upstairs to talk to her mother for a little while, she told her about her night on the town.  After taking her shower, she decided to stop by her friend Kee Kee’s house since it was right off of the highway on her way back to Greensboro.  “Hey girl, what are you doing?”  Kee Kee answered the phone.  “On my way back to G-boro, I was going to stop by.”  Chelle responded.  “Alright, I’m here.”  She decided to straighten up a little before Chelle got there so she would have somewhere to sit and relax.

Knock, knock, knock
.  Chelle was there in a matter of minutes.  Kee Kee came to the door with a basket of clean laundry in her right arm and a cigarette in her left.  She had a colorful silk scarf tied around her hair which was wrapped, a white t-shirt and a pair of grey sweats.  She opened the door, “Girl I am so tired, my house is a mess and Jo-Jo is sick, what’s up with you though?”  Chelle grabbed the basket out of Kee Kee’s hand to relieve her momentarily, “nothing much, same ole thing, where is my baby anyway?”  “He is with his grandmother, I had to work late yesterday.”  “Oh, girl I went to the festival yesterday.”  Chelle said smiling.  “How was it? I know it was nice.”  Kee Kee responded.  “It was girl I met this guy named Roc he said he knows me from somewhere but he doesn’t really look familiar to me, who is he?”  “That’s Jay the one Nene used to talk to!”  Kee Kee said laughing as if she were in disbelief that Chelle didn’t know who he was.  “Oh my, I can’t talk to him, Dennis is already her baby daddy, we use to talk, now this nigga.  Besides I don’t want to keep going behind her, and we use to be cool back in the day that’s a wrap he’s done.”  Chelle said convening herself that she wouldn’t continue to talk to Roc.  “Whatever! Anyway what happened to Chip?”  Kee Kee knew Chelle was going to continue talking to Roc, he was definitely her type.  “Nothing happened to him, he’s just full of shit I told you this already.”  “Oh lord, what did he do?”  Kee Kee asked in a sarcastic disappointed tone.  “Well for one, he acts alright for about three weeks and then all of a sudden he disappears for two or three days without even saying he will be back, he doesn’t answer the phone and he acts like it’s all good when he comes back.”  Chelle said rolling her eyes and twisting the cap off of a bottle of Figi water.  “Oh yeah, he is acting up girl I would do the same thing.”  Kee Kee cosigned with Chelle as she began folding her clothes.  Chelle began to help her and continued to talk, “I didn’t say anything about this but you know we have been talking for a while now, well six months into the relationship I decided to have sex with him.  Girl do you know that in the middle of us having sex, he took the condom off and continued as if I wasn’t going to know.”  Chelle said as she turned to Kee Kee with one eye-brow raised, her mouth slightly opened and her hand on her hip to exaggerate the way she felt about that incident.  “What?!” Kee Kee said in amazement.  “Yeah, girl I told him to get off of me he fucked up the mood and I left, I ended up staying at Teri’s house that night.”  Chelle continued to fold clothes, so did Kee Kee.  “So then what happened the next day?”  Kee Kee asked.  “Girl we didn’t even talk for like two weeks straight.  I was so disgusted with him and I went to get a check up to make sure I was still disease free, thank God I was!”  Chelle said shaking her head.  “So how did y’all start back talking?”  Kee Kee asked.  “He called me and told me how much he had missed me over two weeks, how long it really seemed and surprisingly I felt the same way so we picked up where we left off as if nothing ever happened, but we didn’t mess again for a long time, he was embarrassed to try me and I was teaching him a lesson.”  Chelle said as she giggled a little.  “Aww, that’s good that’s what’s up.”  Kee Kee said smiling at Chelle.  The girls talked for hours and hours while as they straightened up the house, and Chelle decided to go back home after a while.  “Tell Jo Jo I said hey and give him a kiss for me, I love my god son.”  Chelle said as she gave Kee Kee a hug and left.  Chelle listened to Beyoncé on her way home, blasting her favorite songs.  Her phone began to ring, it was Chip she sent him to voicemail once again this was becoming more fun each time she ignored his call because she knew that eventually that day she would answer the phone for him.
I wonder how he’s going to react when I answer the phone I hope he doesn’t act crazy, this is so funny but oh well that’s what his ass gets I bet he will see how it feels now.  Dudes make me sick.
Chelle said to herself as she turned her music back up and continued to cruise down I-40.  Chelle remembered that she had to stop by and get some things from Wal-Mart, but she decided to take her weekend bag into her apartment and unpack before she actually went back out.  As she pulled up into the parking lot, she noticed a black Cadillac almost just like the one he drove, only it was newer and of course it was black instead of grey.
Hmm, nice car
she said as she backed in the parking spot directly across from the Cadillac.  She got her bags out of the back seat and continued walked up the sidewalk.  As Chelle approached her front door, she heard the television on in the living room.
Damn, did I leave the TV on when I left?
She quizzed herself while unlocking the door.  She walked in the television was on along with the light, she shrugged and went straight into her room.  As she placed her bags in the walk-in closet, and kicked off her shoes a deep voice startled her so bad that her body temporarily became limp.  “What’s up baby?”  Chip said as he walked in her room.  “Aaagh!” She screamed grabbing her heart and turning to face him.  “Where did you come from?”  She asked him.  “That’s what I should be asking you, I was in the bathroom.”  He said sarcastically.  “Why haven’t you been answering the phone?”  He questioned her.  “The same reason you don’t when you are busy.”  Chelle said as she changed from jeans to a pair of pajamas.  “Word up?”  Chip said sitting on the bed.  Chelle rolled her eyes and began unpacking her bag.  She took her shoes and placed them back in the boxes, “somebody went out this weekend you got heels and shit” Chip said getting jealous and worried.  “Don’t worry about what I have; why in the hell don’t you ever answer the phone when you decide to get missing in action?”  “Man we done been through this a thousand times, I be busy but I always call back don’t I?”  “Whatever, you are full of shit but it’s cool I got something for you.”  She said sneakily, she knew that she had just met someone else and he was too irresistible to just cut off.  She decided that every time he snuck off to do his dirt, so would she, she wouldn’t call his phone at all and she would come home whenever she felt like it.  “Have you seen my rental car outside?”  Chip asked trying to change the subject.  “Yeah” Chelle responded in a dry tone, she was still thinking about Roc and how fresh and fly he was without effort.
So gangsta
, she thought to herself as she laughed a little and closed her closet.  Chip was pissed off at Chelle for leaving like she did, but he couldn’t say anything because he did her the same way.  He also had a funny feeling that she had been out with a guy, but his insecurities were just a reflection of his own guilt.

New New

It had been three days, Chelle caught herself being so busy that she hadn’t had a chance to call Roc.  She decided to call him on her way from work.  “Hello” he spoke into the phone.  “Hey, this is Chelle what’s up?”  She asked as she blushed at the sound of his voice.  He blushed too, “what’s up with you?”  “Nothing, what are you getting into today?”  “Nothing really, do you want to go out to eat or something?”  “Oh that would be good, just let me know what time to meet you, text me or something.”  Chelle said as she tried to act nonchalant.  “Okay, that will work.”  With that they said their goodbyes and ended the call.  Chelle went home and Chip wasn’t there, she was relieved because she could call Vae and tell her all about the new guy.  She texted Ash and told her about him too.  They had a long conversation, she told Vae how he told all of his homeboys that she was going to be his girlfriend one day.  Vae laughed harder than ever, “Girl bye Chip ain’t going for that!”  “Well I am he matched my fresh” Chelle said sarcastically but honestly speaking.  “So, Chip really loves you, this little dude man he is just infatuated.”  Vae said trying to convince Chelle that this was a poor decision.  “So, and Chip been acting up man whatever I don’t have time for that, two can play that game but I go harder than he ever can.”  Chelle said with confidence.  Vae laughed again, “that’s my girl” she said sarcastically.  Chelle began to run her bath water and decided to take it easy for the whole day, she peeped out of the window to see who was pulling up in the parking lot and it was none other than Chip.  “Okay, next subject he is back.”  Chelle said as she went into the living room and turned on the television.  Vae laughed harder than before, “You are a mess!”  “shut-up” Chelle said as she tried to change the subject, “Girl where are we going out to eat tonight?”  “What?”  Vae said still laughing.  “
We
are going out to eat tonight now that is the subject okay.”  “Whatever you say with your little sneaky behind.”  Vae said.  “I think we should go to Arigato’s Vae, we haven’t eaten there in like two weeks.”  Chelle said as Chip turned the key to open the front door.  “How about Outback, I need that in my life today.”  Chelle said, she didn’t need for Vae to respond, she was just role playing for Chip.  “Who is going to Outback?”  Chip said loud enough for the person on the other end of the receiver to hear him.  Vae busted out laughing once more, “that nigga acts just like my boyfriend girl.” Although she didn’t approve of their relationship at first, she had to admit she could tell he liked her. “Not you” Chelle said rolling her eyes.  “Whatever” he said closing the door behind himself, he knew that it was either one of her cousins or a home girl by the way she reacted.  “Well girl let me get off this phone.”  Chelle said to Vae as she walked into the bathroom to check on her bath water.  It was just the way she liked it, steaming hot and almost full to the brim.  Chelle let the water cool down just a little for a few minutes.  She went into her room took her clothes off and placed them in the dirty clothes basket; she grabbed her robe and went into the bathroom.  Chip sat in the living room and counted his money, he separated them by the stack and placed rubber bands around them.  He went into Chelle’s bed room and placed ten stacks under her mattress, he put ten more in a shoe box and he peeped into the bathroom to ask Chelle if she wanted to go shopping.  “Yeah, I need to go to Wal-Mart and I want some shoes too.”  She replied.  “Alright” he said as he laid back on the bed and sparked a pre-rolled blunt.  “Stop smoking that shit in my room!”  Chelle yelled out of the bathroom.  “I closed your closet so your clothes won’t smell like it, chill” he said taking another pull.  Chelle just shook her head and leaned back into the bath water blocking everything that clouded her mind.  She just let her mind go completely blank, smelling the fresh aroma of lavender bedtime bath.  She slid down into the tub and dozed off, the warm water took her to another element of relaxation, she felt as if she were in a body glove for a few moments then she woke up and bathed.
Chip and Roc have to know each other, damn I hope not but that’s wishful thinking.  I don’t think they kick it like that though’ I have never seen Chip around this dude; besides they aren’t the same age I mean this dude is twenty- four Chip is twenty-six.  Snap out of it Chelle, who cares?  Let it go for the moment and let the situation confront itself.
Chelle thought to herself as she lathered her body and rinsed it off.  She got out of the tub, placed her bath robe on and went to lay down on her bed.  Disgusted with Chip but loving him all in one breath, she looked at him and rolled over dozing off within seconds.  “Chelle, get up so we can hit the streets before it gets too late” Chip said shaking her from side-to-side in attempts to wake her up.  “What time is it?”  She said sleepily rolling over.  “4:30 get up” he replied in an eager tone.  Chelle slowly sat up looked over and made her way to the closet to choose something to wear.

“Push the buggy while I go get some socks and beaters, I will be right back” Chip said as he walked over to the men’s underclothes section at the Wal-Mart.  Chelle was making sure she had gotten all of her toiletries, groceries and school supplies that she needed so she wouldn’t have to pay them a visit for a while.  “I’ll be at the register” she yelled to him as he walked away, he shook his head to acknowledge her remark.  Soon after they were checking out and on their way to the car.  “Where do you want to go now?”  Chip asked while he put the bags in the trunk.  “Umm, let’s go to Soho at Friendly they have some bad Jimmy Choo pumps I have been dying for.”  Chelle said in a swaying tone.  “Come on” he instructed as he shut the trunk and hopped in the driver seat, “were only going to be in here for fifteen minutes” he said looking at Chelle to let her know he meant what he said.  “Okay, okay fifteen minutes or less.”  Chelle said pretending to be disappointed.  “Whatever” he said chuckling as he poked her in the side slightly tickling her.  She giggles and slapped his hand.

Later that evening the two sat watching Girlfriends, Chip hated that show but since his games weren’t on and he was getting ready to leave anyway he didn’t really care.  He was trying to figure out a way to leave without Chelle getting distrustful but there was no getting around it until, “Baby I will be back me and Vae are going out to eat; can I have fourty dollars?”  Bingo, it was easier than he thought.  Chip pulled out a thin wad of money and peeled off eighty dollars, “here I know you will eat desert or get drinks”.  Chelle’s eyebrows shifted inward and she raised one of them, shrugged her shoulders and held out her hand.
He’s not going to be here when I get back, oh well.
She thought as her temple thumped, her feelings were slightly hurt but she really didn’t care as much as she normally, would after all she was going on a date with her “new honey”.
