“There are plenty of woman out there like that, Lucas. I think the main problem is that you’re looking in the wrong places for them. It seems like you just hook up with people based on their looks. Yeah, attraction is important but you also have to connect in other ways. You’re only twenty-one for God’s sake! You have plenty of time to find the
one
.”

“Yeah, I know. I just thought that I found what I was looking for with you, Em. You’re special, different.”

“I’m a pain in the ass, that’s what I am,” I say laughing.

“Yeah, maybe a little bit,” he says smirking.

“You fucker!” I say, feigning insult.

“Sorry, Em,” he says beaming.

“Eat your dinner, jerkoff, and then we can finish the movie. I’m really tired and just want to go to bed on my comfy air mattress,” I say sarcastically.

“Hey, that air mattress is amazing! Do you know how many woman I’ve….”

“Okay, point taken. The mattress has had its share of action. I get it,” I say cutting him off.

Gross! Now I will be thinking about all of the skanky women who have spread their legs on it.

He smiles devilishly, shoveling a large amount of noodles into his mouth.

I go over to the couch, turning the movie back on. After inhaling his food, he comes over to the couch, sitting down beside me. He lays down on his back, flopping his feet on top of me.

“You look pretty cozy there, Lucas. Would you like a foot rub too?” I ask sarcastically.

“Great idea, Em. That would really be nice,” he says smiling broadly.

I chuckle, rolling my eyes at him.

“Well, get to it! I had a rough day. Drama at work, you rejecting me. I deserve a little something, I think.”

What nerve! I arch my eyebrow at him.

Oh, fine! I guess it’s the least I can do for him. He had a tough day because of me.

I start kneading the arches of his feet as he sighs with content.

We watch the movie more, getting to the very end of it. My favorite part is when Chunk tells Sloth that is going to come home with him and be a part of his family. Chokes me up every damn time. My eyes start watering, and I try to inconspicuously blink the tears away.

I feel Lucas sit up, moving his feet out of my lap.

“Em, what’s wrong?” Lucas asks concerned.

“This scene just makes me so happy. He…he….Sloth finally gets real a family that loves him,” I choke out.

“You’re so cute. I wouldn’t have never pegged you for a movie crier, Em. C’mere sweetheart,” he says, motioning me to come closer to him.

He wraps his arms around me, pulling me close against him. I bask in his warmth, crying softly against his chest.

“Shhh, it’s okay. Let it out. I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere,” he whispers.

The movie does make me emotional but I know my tears are more complicated than that. Watching the movie just brought back memories of why I decided to move here. I thought I would have a fresh start, a new chance at life. It’s crazy but I actually thought that everything would be different if I moved. I was dead wrong. Sometimes what you run from catches up with you. In this case, it caught up with me and then some.

The big question is, would I have moved here having known what was going to happen to me? Would I have passed up the opportunity to fall for Aiden? Was this pain all really worth it?

Yes. It was. I may be a glutton for punishment but every second was worth it. Every kiss, every touch was worth the pain of a thousand knives slicing into my skin. Love is a complex thing. It defines you, it breaks you, it tests you.

I know that I have to wait for Aiden, no matter how long it takes. I’ll live my life the best I can but I will put my heart on hold for him.

I put my hand on my stomach, willing for there to be a life inside. I was so angry at him for doing what he did but now I want a part of him. I want our child growing inside my belly. If I can never have him, I want this baby. Something that will always link us no matter what.

My tears finally dry and I lift my head up to look at Lucas. His eyes seem warm, comforting. I pull away from him laughing lightly.

“Sorry about that, Lucas. I can be such a girl sometimes,” I say self-conscious.

“Don’t worry about it. I liked comforting you. I know that you were upset by more than just the movie. We don’t have to talk about it but I get it. Today was a…well, let’s just say the start of a new chapter between us,” he says

“We learned a lot about each other today and I think it helped. Now we both understand why we are the way we are and why we do what we do,” he says smiling gently.

I feel wrung out, exhausted beyond measure.

“Ok, bed,” he says, lifting me up in his arms.

“Lucas, I’m not an invalid. You don’t have to carry me, you know,” I say chuckling.

“I know that, Em. But if this is the only way I can touch or be close to you, then I think I’ll just take what I can get,” he says smirking.

Sneaky bastard. He’ll probably try to cop a feel when he deposits me on the bed.

He walks us into my room, gently placing me on the mattress. I release my hold on his neck. Hmmm…I guess I was wrong in my judgment of Lucas. He didn’t cop a feel.

“What’s so funny?” he asks smiling.

“Oh, nothing. Inappropriate thoughts, that’s all,” I say.

“Oh, yeah? Do they involve me and my big…”

“No!” I yell, cutting him off. “You’re too much, Lucas.”

Oh, shit. I instantly cringe, realizing what I just said. Ugh, I didn’t mean it like that.

“I know I’m too much, but the ladies don’t seem to complain about it,” he says smirking.

“Enough, pervert! Bedtime,” I yell laughing.

“Well, I guess I should get naked and get under the covers then,” he says unbuttoning his jeans.

“Not my bed, smartass. Your bed. I can show you where it is if you need help getting there,” I say smirking.

He instantly stops unzipping his jeans, a naughty smirk on his face.

“Oh, well. Can’t blame a guy for trying, Em. I’ll let you reject me all day long as long you know that I still want you,” he says shrugging.

I point to the door smirking.

“Bed,” I say to him.

“Yeah, I know,” he sighs.

He lifts his hand in the air looking at it.

“Hey there, friend. You and me are going to have a rough night,” he says looking at me now.

I roll my eyes at his insolence, throwing a pillow at him.

“Hey, I’m going, I’m going!” he says laughing. “Sleep well, sweetheart,” he says.

“You too,” I reply.

He turns of
f my bedroom light and practically leaves the room whistling. Damn, nothing bothers that guy.

I sigh, rolling into my pillow. What a day! Not the best day but maybe not even the worst either. I haven’t decided yet. The jury’s still out.

I close my eyes, my hand involuntarily drifting towards my stomach.

Ugh, stop thinking that you’re pregnant
, Emma! It was one time without protection. Do you know what the odds are?

Just in case, I decide not
jeopardize the possible life inside of me. No more smoking, no more alcohol, and definitely no more run-ins with Marcus. I’ll have to take better care of myself until I know for sure. Aiden want would me to cherish and protect our child and that’s exactly what I’ll do.

I feel by body drifting in and out, my
consciousness wavering. I feel obscurity consume me, taking me to an almost death-like state. My last thought is of Aiden’s pain stricken face. It clenches my heart, finally taking me under.

I feel hands run up my legs, sending
goose bumps to the surface of my skin. I tremble, the sensation almost too much to bear. Soft, firm lips kiss my ankles, my knees, my inner thighs. I open my eyes, my limbs still heavy from my slumber.

“Aiden?” I whisper confused.

Why does my tongue feel numb, almost as if I’m talking in slow motion? I feel like I’ve been drugged or a little too tipsy. This is beyond weird.

Shhh,” he says, kissing his way up my body.

I look down at myself, realizing that the clothes I had
on earlier have disappeared. I am completely naked, entirely vulnerable to him.

He reaches me breasts, taking one of my nipples between his
teeth, tugging it gently. He rolls his tongue around the skin, causing my body to tremble in response. He makes his way over to the other breast, paying it the same expert attention. I try to grab his hair in my hands but my arms are immobile. I can’t move, I can only feel.

He kisses further up my body, finally settling himself against my
lips. I try to respond to him but I can’t. My body won’t allow me speak out.

“Open for me, Emma,” he
whispers.

My lips
miraculously part, allowing his tongue to invade my mouth. He licks, sucking my tongue against his. He moans into my mouth, moving his hand in between my legs. The clothes that he had on before are gone, his skin as clear as day in the darkness.

He touches my
center, moving his thumb gently against my clit. His pressure increases along with his kisses. They’re feverish, intruding, violent.

I come against his thumb without any warning. The orgasm snuck up on me, something t
hat has never happened before. My eyes roll back in my head, almost making me pass out.

He gets to his
knees, pulling me up against him. His length sits against my stomach, the hardness and softness of his skin a wonderful contrast.

“Wrap your hands around my neck,” he
orders.

My hands comply, wrapping around his
warm flesh. Before I can question why I can’t move a muscle unless he tells me to, he enters me in one violent thrust. We both moan, enjoying the friction of our joined bodies. He impales into me, gently and rough at the same time. I look into his eyes, noticing the green luminesce that is usually there, gone.

He starts kissing me again, plundering his tongue into my mouth. His hand rest
s by my waist, controlling the pace of his thrusts as I ride on top of him.

I feel a warmth at my back,
as if someone’s breath is tickling my skin. My eyes widen, alarmed by what I’m feeling. Kisses start being placed against my backbone as Aiden continues his thrusts. I feel hands cup my breasts from behind as I try to break away from Aiden’s lips, not understanding what’s happening. I feel a hand grab my chin, forcing my head backwards.
