“Jim was gone for weeks before I even had the courage to tell my best friend. My agent knew, my publisher didn’t. When the book tour came up, I wasn’t proud of my situation. But I was proud of my work, and I’m happy the book has helped so many couples all over the world.”
“So the story goes, Tara, that you broke your publicist’s foot, and she couldn’t go on this twenty-city tour. Enter Jake Randall.” Barbara laughed. “And you’re blushing. I hear things didn’t go so well at first.”
“No. Jake was—”
“I have a quote from your publicist, the one with the broken foot. She said Jake was ‘a bit of a jerk.’”
“Yes, but that only lasted a few hours.”
“And now you’re married? With a baby girl on the way?”
“I’m due in March.”
“Your very handsome husband is off camera. Jake, will you join us?”
Jake sat down beside me and put his arm around me. We hadn’t even been married for a month when I found out I was pregnant. My first sonogram pinpointed the date of conception somewhere between the weeks we were in Denver and Charlotte.
We are so excited about the baby. Jake has the itinerary all planned out, but I’m sure this little lady has plans of her own. Still, I know he’s going to be a great daddy. It’s risky having a baby at my age, and I worry a lot, but I’m so lucky to have Jake, and our baby. They are my happily ever after.

Melissa Bliss peeked out the reception area window at the two hotties in the strip center parking lot and let out a delicious sigh. Of course all that ogling was in the name of love, for someone other than herself. Shane Carver was supervising the installation of Melissa’s sign for Island Bliss, her vacation property management and real estate office on the Isle of Palms. He was chatting with Parker Holbrook, who owned a good chunk of the island, including the strip center.
One of those two men might very well be
the one
for Savannah Sinclair, Melissa was sure of it. Both were drop dead gorgeous and kind. Driven, but with a true appreciation of living life to the fullest. Either would be a great match for Savannah. Maybe not her soul mate, which is the rarest find for a matchmaker like Melissa. But then not everyone is lucky enough to find the one person on the planet who was created just for them.
Still, helping someone find their perfect match so they can make their own happily ever after was definitely her second favorite thing in the world.
“I’ve just got two questions for you, Melissa Bliss, and then I’m not saying nothing. No sir.”
“That’ll be the day.” Her assistant, Pearl, was big and beautiful with the most gorgeous amber eyes that literally glowed with curiosity. She had always been as nosy as the day is long and utterly fascinated with Melissa’s matchmaking abilities.
“Are you scoping out one of those two fine men for Savannah Sinclair?” She nodded toward said hotties.
“What makes you so sure I’m scoping anybody out?” Melissa teased. “Maybe I’m just watching Shane install my sign to make sure it’s done right.”
“Because I know that look. I can just see those sparks flying all around your pretty blonde head while you work that Geechee magic. And by the way that hunk of a man Shane Carver keeps looking over here, I’d say those sparks are directed at you instead of some fancy socialite….”
