Joseph Ray studied at The Center for Brain Research at the University of Rochester, receiving his Ph.D. in 1965. Gurdjieff led him to ancient Egyptian thought and an effort to deepen his understanding of the remarkable teachings of the ancient philosopher-scientist-priests.

Robert M. Schoch, a full-time faculty member at the College of General Studies at Boston University since 1984, earned his Ph.D. in geology and geophysics from Yale University. Dr. Schoch is known internationally as a specialist on ancient Egypt. His books include
