I hate my life.

I groan as I throw my phone on the counter and get myself a beer.

“Didn’t peg you as a solo drinker.” Bennett says as he walks in the kitchen with just a towel wrapped around his waist.

“Sorry,” I mumble as I grab him one.

“What’s wrong?” I go to walk to the living room but he grabs my arm to stop me.

“Got a call.” I sigh.

“From?” he questions me expectantly.

“My Mother.”

“Fuck.”

“Exactly.” A call from her doesn’t bode well for any of us. I know she would follow through with her threat and do all she can to ruin mine and Bennett’s lives.

CHAPTER 23

Bennett

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

I did
not
except her parents to call last night. I know her mother is a psycho bitch, but to threaten us, again? That’s just fucked up and it makes me want to keep to our original plan from five years ago and get on my bike and drive to wherever we please.

I still think about the two of us disappearing on a daily basis since she reappeared in my life and that’s exactly what’s invading my thoughts right now as I’m sat in the middle of a Chapel meeting. We’re supposed to be solving other problems with our gun deals and I’m too lost in my thoughts to be paying attention.

“You alright, Brother?” I hear Gabe’s voice and it brings me out of my thoughts as Lewis finishes talking about something. I still don’t get why she’s been a part of our Chapel meetings lately, especially when it concerns gun deals.

“Just dealing with some stuff with Nancy.”

“Everything good?” Ant asks.

“Her parents have found us, they hired someone else to look for her because they didn’t trust me. They’ve been keeping tracks on us apparently. I don’t know how much of it is true, but knowing her parents, we better be careful. They are horrible, fucked up people.” I sigh.

“Ryan is with her right?” Ant asks and I nod. “Good, at least you know she’s safe at the moment.”

“Yeah, it’s just that I have a constant niggling feeling that she could be taken away from me at any second.”

“I know the feeling, Brother. You have to get past it or you’ll drive yourself insane,” Ant says, giving me a pointed look.

“How did you ever get past it?” I ask.

“I didn’t, that’s why I’m the fucking Prez and you’re all my bitches, I found another occupation to keep my mind busy.” He laughs and we all join him. “Go see your woman. We need to discuss some stuff.”

“Great, more secrets.” I mumble and stand up. I’m incredibly pissed off with all the secrecy now.

“It’s for your ow-”

“Yeah, yeah my own good, I know.” I’m about to leave when I get a text. I check it quickly in case it’s Nancy, but what I see has my blood running cold. “Fuck!” I shout.

“What is it?” Ant asks, jumping up immediately and half-running over to me. I hand him my phone and show him the message sent from an unknown number. It’s a picture of Nancy and Ryan talking as she’s letting him into my place with ‘We know where she is’
written in what I’m assuming is blood across it.

“Fuck. We need to act and fast. Lewis, are you with us?” Ant asks her.

“Do you even have to ask?” She replies with a voice that’s full of attitude.

“Good. Our main concern right now is to k-” Ant is interrupted midsentence as cellphones ping with text messages. Ant, Gabe, Aleck and Jase all look at their phones and then at each other before all bellowing, “Motherfuckers!”

“Okay, they know where our women are and have eyes on all of them so our main concern at the moment is to get them somewhere safe. We’ll pay the Infernos a little visit when the women and kids are all protected. Let’s go,” Ant orders as he stalks out of the Chapel with his phone to his ear. The others ring their women and I phone Nancy as I jog to my bike.

“Hey Bennett.” Her voice is shaky.
Fuck, he’s shown him the picture.

“I’m on my way, are you safe?”

“Yes, I’m with Ryan. Ryan showed me the picture, Bennett. They know where I am. I have to leave.” Her voice breaks as she finishes her sentence and it breaks my heart.
Fucking Ryan. Why in the hell did he have to show her the damn picture?

“I am
not
letting you leave, Nancy. I’ll be there in a few minutes. Get a bag ready with a couple days’ worth of clothes.” I hang up before she can argue and speed back home. Even though the drive is just a couple of minutes, they are the longest minutes of my life.

I park in front of my house and storm inside. As soon as I’m through the door, Nancy jumps into my arms and I can feel her shivering. “It’s going to be okay, my Gorgeous Girl. I’ll protect you. Nothing is going to happen to you.”

“You don’t understand, these people are really dangerous,” she says with hitched breaths.

“I know. Our main concern right now is getting you somewhere safe.”

“Where are we going?” She asks and she looks terrified.

“You’ll see. You following us?” I ask Ryan.

“Of course.” He grabs Nancy’s bag and we all walk out of the house. I lock up and turn on the alarm before helping Nancy with her helmet. As soon as she’s safely on the back of my bike I peel out of my driveway with Ryan right on our tail.

Since our women have been the targets so many times, we put a contingency plan into place. After Nicole was targeted, we found a safe house just outside town in case something like this happened again. We hoped that we wouldn’t have to use it, but life never goes the way you want it to.

Despite the circumstances, it feels so good to have Nancy on the back of my bike with her arms wrapped around me. It takes me about thirty minutes to get to our safe location after taking a very long and indirect route so we could make sure we lost any tails we might have picked up. We stagger our arrivals at the safe house in a particular order so we wouldn’t draw attention to the location. A load of bikers turning up at the same place all at the same time would look suspicious. If anyone is late, we are to try and locate them as soon as possible.

The house doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s equipped with the latest security system and technology. I guess we made the right decision buying this place after all.

I park in the underground garage and help Nancy off the bike as Ryan pulls up next to me.

“What is this place? A bunker?” She looks around as if the garage is going to answer her.

“Sorta. We bought it when all the fuckers who were after us at the time were pussies and targeted the girls instead of us.” I remove her helmet and we take the stairs to the main level of the house and find Ant and Gabe sitting at the kitchen table with Viv and Ayden on the couches. The girls hug each other and they all sit back on one of the couches while Ryan and I join Ant and Gabe.

“Aleck and Jase are on their way, Callum picked up the girls’ stuff and he’s on his way after dropping the kids off at Cabe’s,” Ant informs, looking deep in thoughts.

“What’s on your mind?” I ask.

“We need to talk to Nancy.” He sighs.

“What about?” I’m so confused at this point.

“She was stuck there for a long time and was let out to visit clients. She knows the location as well as the layout of the place, we need her help. We just want the fuckers who hurt her, we don’t want to blow up the whole place and hurt innocent people,” Ant says with a serious tone. “And as much as I hate to admit it, we don’t want to start a war with another MC, we’re still recovering from the last one.”

“Fuck.” I rub my face.

“I know, think she’d be okay with it?” Gabe asks.

“Maybe you should ask me straight away instead of thinking that I can’t hear you from two meters away,” Nancy says which immediately shuts Ant up and makes us all chuckle.

“Will you talk to us about it?” Gabe asks her.

“Anything to take that
fucker
down.” She glances my way and then back to Ant who knows exactly who she’s talking about.
Motherfucking secrets.

We wait for the others to arrive before Nancy tells everyone what she knows. I already know what she’s going to say, I hated it the first time and I’ll probably hate it even more hearing it a second time.

We all sit down around the table, Nancy sits in my lap and the other girls’ follow suit with their men. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea for the women to hear this, but it might bring Nancy some comfort having her girlfriends with her.

“Don’t feel like you have to tell us everything, just what you feel comfortable with and what could be useful,” Ant states in a soothing voice.

“Okay.” She takes in a deep breath and starts. “The place has kind of the same set up as your compound, just a lot bigger. There are three entrances on the ground level. The main one leads directly into the Chapel, the back one leads to a different hallway than the main one they use and is the one that leads to the girls rooms. And finally the front looks like a normal house door and is the one we mainly used. They have a good security system and a guard on every of door. I don’t know any of the codes though; they made sure we couldn’t see them when they let us in and out.

“Your best bet would be to go through the back; it’s rare that they have someone guarding that door. Well, I’ve never seen anyone watch that door anyway. You need to go that way if you want to free the other girls. There’s a staircase leading up to the floor with our rooms and there are usually two guards watching the entire hallway so you should be able to take them out quite quickly. Just mention that you know Violet to the girls and they should go with you, at least the ones who want something better.

“When you use the back entrance, you have the two main hallways in front of you. The second doorway on your left is the Chapel and that’s where you’ll most likely find
him
trying to sell his girls to the highest bidder for the night. He’s the one who takes care of it all; he doesn’t trust anyone with his money or ‘his’ girls. To your right there will be another room where the club members and their club whores hang out. If I were you I’d get all of your men in on this one with half of them coming in from the back and the other half from the front. Don’t go straight to the Chapel or you’ll be trapped inside and
he
is ruthless, he won’t go down without a fight and I don’t want anyone getting hurt because of me.” Her voice had been scarily void of emotion until that last part. If I could I’d go there right now and shoot that motherfucker then I’d already be there.

“Thank you, Princess,” Ant says as he rubs her hand in a comforting way.

“Anything to help.” She leans back into me and I wrap my arms around her.

“You good?” I ask her quietly.

“I will be once I know business has been taken care of.” She sighs.

“Still not gonna tell me who
he
is?” She shakes her head. I hate that she’s still keeping things from me, but I’m not about to force her. I kiss her shoulder and look up at Gabe, Ant and Callum who are all looking at me with serious expressions on their faces. I don’t know what’s going on, but my frustration with this shit is growing with every single second that passes.

“How about you five go cook us some food while we plan for tomorrow?” Ant asks Ayden.

“Seriously? You want us to cook you guys some food? Can’t you just order a pizza?” She asks, full of attitude.

“Sweetcheeks, I would if it didn’t mean that I’d be risking some fuckers knowing where your lovely ass is.” He smirks at her.

“Fine.” She groans and walks to the kitchen, followed by Line, Nicole, Viv and Nancy.

“Smooth, Brother.” Gabe chuckles.

“I know.” Ant laughs. “Okay, we need to set up something for tomorrow and warn Lewis and see if she’s still with us. Bennett, you’re sitting this one out.”

“I know. Can’t say I’m happy about it.” I grumble.

“It’s for your own good buddy, we keep telling you that.” Gabe insists.

“How about you guys let me decide what’s good for me? You all know who is behind all of this and none of you has the balls to speak up. You all got to fight to save your women and you’re not letting me do the same. How do you think that makes me fucking feel?” I argue

“You’ll know when the time is right,” Callum says, sounding like a fucking fortune cookie.

“If it’s someone I know then I want to be the one putting a bullet between his eyes, for fuck’s sake!” I shout.

“I get that, but you have to trust me, you
do not
want to know. It will fuck you up and you will get both yourself and Nancy killed.” Callum tries to reason with me but it’s no use.

“My mind is already fucked with this secrecy bullshit, a little bit more isn’t exactly going to hurt!”

“Don’t go there. Trust us when we say that it’ll only make it ten times worse, just let us deal with it and you enjoy your woman,” Gabe says.
