Zephyr followed her path up the mattress, stalking over her on all fours. “Relax, baby. It’s going to be fine.”

Fine?
Nothing was going to be fine or otherwise if he put that huge phallus inside her sex. She wasn’t large enough to accommodate him.

“Most living creatures have sex, Adonia. And the result is always the same, intense pleasure. We’re wired for it or we wouldn’t do it.” He soothed her with his voice, but she still held herself rigid with doubt.

“Is yours…different?” She bit her lip between her teeth as she asked.

“Nope. And neither is your pussy, baby. And I’ll help stretch you before I enter. Slow and easy.”

Stretch me?
How was he going to do that?

Zephyr nudged her legs apart and settled between them, his length lying on the mattress, just the tip touching her. He took her lips again, licking a line around the edges until she released her hold on the bottom one. When she opened her mouth, he delved inside once more.

Did he know how her brain scrambled every time he did that? Leaving her pliable to his wishes?

Probably. Hell, undoubtedly.

She was aware of herself softening beneath his touch, her body relaxing into the quilt.

He stroked her face, her arms, the edges of her breasts, as he kissed. She wrapped her arms around his body and dragged her fingers up the muscles on his back. He was strong. Fit. Sexy as hell.

Even though her brain told her this wasn’t going to work, her heart knew otherwise. Somehow he would make it happen. His confidence didn’t falter. Surely she was driven only by her naiveté.

Zephyr lifted one leg over her thigh and settled himself along her side, his other thigh rising to press her open.

She flinched when the wiry hairs on his leg made contact with her sex.

“Your pussy is still so wet, baby.” He reached between her legs and lightly caressed her opening. As he gathered her wetness with two fingers, he used them to stroke over her clit, making her instantly alert once again. “So fucking sexy… I love the look on your face when I do this.” He flicked her little nub and then pinched it between two fingers. “Oh, yeah…and that…”

Adonia moaned.

“Your little noises are musical. Do it again,” he encouraged. He pushed one finger inside her and got his wish.

“Oh God…” Her voice sounded foreign, as though it belonged to someone else. It felt so good having him push up into her sex.

When he added a second finger and began to scissor them, she understood what he meant about stretching her. She lifted her torso off the bed, striving to get more of him, deeper.

“That’s it, baby. Just feel.”

She gripped the quilt with both hands, afraid she’d dig her fingernails into Zephyr if she touched him.

A third finger joined the first two, the stretch tight but leaving her wanting more. She arched into him, no longer caring how wanton she must appear. “Please…”

He curved one digit inside her and flicked it rapidly over a spot she never knew existed. And she shattered, pulsing around his fingers, grasping at them, her body begging him to remain inside her forever. It felt so good.

As she caught her breath, she found him staring at her face intently. “You’re gorgeous when you orgasm. I’ll never tire of watching you.” He removed his hand, and she groaned at the loss, making him chuckle. “I know. I’m getting there.” He heaved himself back between her legs and reached between them to grasp his enormous length with one hand. He stroked the tip over her slit.

“Ohhh.” She wanted him inside her now. She was ready. Her body aligned with his, begging for a different sort of completion than what she’d already experienced against his mouth and his hand.

He slipped inside her just an inch at a time. His cock was much larger than three fingers and she grasped his biceps as he gazed into her eyes.

Zephyr released his hold on himself and brought that arm up to join the other, resting on his elbows alongside her head. Apparently he didn’t need to guide himself into her.

“Look at me,” he whispered when she let her eyes flutter shut.

She opened them to gaze into the deep blue pools that closely resembled her own. Snow wolf shifters were known for their blonde hair and clear blue eyes. Adonia knew she was lucky to have acquired both since only one parent was a shifter.

Zephyr pressed into her another inch, not mentioning the score marks she was surely making on his arms where she squeezed his muscles.

“It’s too tight.” She sucked in a breath and held it.

“Only at first. You’ll see. Just relax. Keep your eyes on mine.” He stroked the hair from her face, holding himself partway inside her. His patience with her made it difficult to swallow around the emotions she felt.

Her sex clenched around his length, loosening and demanding more. “Do it,” she demanded. She lifted her torso, but couldn’t get enough purchase to force him the rest of the way in.

He grinned, a crooked tilt of his mouth that characterized his mirth. She loved the look already after only half a day. “So impatient.”

“Ugh.” She lifted her butt off the bed.

And then he plunged home, taking her breath away. Her vision swirled as she inhaled long and slow. Her initial thought was that he’d torn her in two. But as the seconds ticked by, she knew she was fine. More than fine. Filled with her mate.

He didn’t move. Instead he stroked her cheek with one finger. “You okay? Breathe, baby.”

She did, as her gaze returned to his. His brow was furrowed and his jaw clenched. It was clearly a struggle for him to hold himself still.

She wanted more. “Move, Zephyr.” She bucked upward again, urging him to stroke the sensitive walls of her sex with his length.

Zephyr pulled out gradually, and then he pressed back in to the hilt.

Holy mother of God. He’d been right. There was no comparison. “Do it again,” she pleaded. If he never stopped stroking his girth inside her, she would die a happy woman. Nerve endings she never knew existed protested every time he pulled out and rejoiced with each return as he stroked her tightness.

He clenched his jaw even tighter, his rigid face straining as though he were in pain.

“Zephyr?” she asked, drawing his gaze to her own.

He blinked at her and then smiled. “Oh, baby, it’s just so hard to hold back. I’m gonna come.”

Wasn’t that the idea?

He sped up, his shaft rubbing her in all the right places until the need for release resurfaced for the third time. She recognized the sensation this time, knew what to expect. And she was just as powerless to stop herself from plunging into that welcome abyss. Was that why Zephyr had held that expression on his face? Had he wanted to stave off the inevitable like she did?

As he entered her for the last time and held himself steady within her depths, her sex clenched around him, pulsing and squeezing his length, milking him.

He groaned, loosening his facial muscles as he too pulsed into her. He gripped locks of her hair with both hands, his fingers tangling with the long strands, but not pulling.

Finally, he took a deep breath and stared into her eyes, setting his forehead against hers. “Adonia…” Her name on his tongue sounded reverent. He brushed her cheeks with his thumbs and kissed her mouth in a soft touch of lips.

She still felt the occasional flutter of her sex around his length and knew his shaft was receding in size. He didn’t remove himself from her body, though.

“You’re so fucking sexy. I’m the luckiest man alive.”

She smiled. “I could say the same about you. That was…beyond my wildest dreams.” Far beyond…

Zephyr finally pulled from her sheath and relaxed onto his side beside her. He didn’t stop touching her, grazing his fingertips over her hip, her belly, circling her nipples until she squirmed.

She batted at his hand. “Stop. I can’t take any more.”

As he swirled a pattern up under her bicep, she giggled. “Ticklish?” He did it again, and she lowered her arm to trap his fingers against her chest.

Her eyes grew heavy as she stared into his. “So tired.”

“I’m sure you are. It’s exhausting spending the day warding off the inevitable.” He smiled again. “Sleep. The storm should abate now.”

“Why?”

“I assume we have done what your father intended, mated.”

“How would he know that?”

Zephyr chuckled. “How does that man know anything? He’s supernatural, baby. Omniscient about many things. I assume he sent me here with the intentional expectation that we would mate. Matchmaking is one of his favorite pastimes, after fucking, that is.”

“But how would he know from so far away without even meeting me?”

“I’m never quite sure how he knows half the shit he knows. He seems to read minds, and he has some clairvoyance. I don’t question, but I do trust his judgment. Implicitly. I’ve never found him to be wrong.”

Adonia snuggled up against Zephyr’s side, a chill sending goose bumps down her chest now that she was sated.

Zephyr sat up and pulled a second quilt from the foot of the bed. He settled it over both their bodies and snuggled into her, nearly smothering her with his huge frame. She didn’t care, as long as he didn’t move from her side.

“Sleep, baby. I’m right here.” How did he know what she needed? She lost her train of thought as darkness descended.

Chapter Five

Zephyr woke early. If it weren’t for his internal alarm clock, he wouldn’t have had any idea what time it was. The cabin was blanketed in snow, rendering it nearly pitch dark now. Why? The storm still raged. He could smell the weather and taste the fury of Mother Nature on his tongue.

Had he been wrong? He’d been sure Jack Frost had sent this storm with him. Only Frost would be able to align the stars just right to force an inevitable mating. Why then was the storm still brewing strong?

His eyes adjusted to the near darkness, only the flicker of light from the fireplace casting a shadow over the cabin.

He stared down at the sleeping face of his mate. She was so peaceful at rest.

He watched her for long minutes before the chill in the air and his full bladder took precedence.

Zephyr eased from his mate’s side, careful to avoid disturbing her. He tucked the quilt around her tiny frame, padded to the bathroom, and then made his way across the chilly cabin toward the fire.

It took a little coaxing, but he had the flames high in a few minutes.

“Zephyr?” The rough morning voice of his mate made his cock twitch and lengthen.

He turned to her and hurried back to crawl in beside her. “Burr. I added a few logs. Sorry. Didn’t mean to wake you.”

“Hmmm.” She laid her face against his chest and wrapped her arm over his body. “You’re cold now.”

He touched her shin with the bottom of his foot, making her jump. “Now
that’s
cold. But
you’re
warm.” He buried his nose in her hair and inhaled her sweet scent, ignoring her wiggling next to him.

“How rude.” Her words didn’t have any negative affect in the tone of voice she used. “Why is it still storming? I thought you said my father had caused it. Wasn’t it supposed to abate after we mated?”

“I was sure I was right. It came with me and it should stop now. I don’t get it.”

Adonia sat up, the quilt falling to her waist as she stared down at him. “Did you make it up so you could fuck me?” Her chest heaved, her breasts rising and falling with each breath. Her warm air froze in the chill of the cabin, filling the space between them with the mist.

His smile fell when he realized she was serious. He grabbed her hand and pulled it to his cheek. “No, baby. Of course not. Nothing could have prevented us from eventually mating. It was only a matter of time, and I most certainly didn’t drag a storm out here to the middle of nowhere to claim a woman I had never met. I don’t have that ability. Do you?” He raised his eyebrows, tossing the words at her before he had time to even consider the ramifications.

She yanked her hand from his grasp, gasping at his insinuation. “Me? I never wanted this in the first place.” She jerked the covers from her body and clambered from the bed at the foot, avoiding any contact with him.

Her last words stung. This morning wasn’t going as he would have liked. A fight? Their first words to each other after mating and they were going to have a battle?

She stomped toward the bathroom, her perfect ass jiggling as she went.

As she shut the door, he called out. “And, by the way, I did not fuck you. Never has a man ever made love to a woman with as much passion as I felt last night. If you want to see fucking, I’ll show you fucking. That wasn’t it.” His words grew harsher and louder as he spoke, unnecessary in the confines of the room, but he resented the implication he had lured her into this bed with ill intentions.

He flopped back down and stared at the ceiling, heaving for breath. Dammit. He punched the mattress with both fists at his sides. How the hell had this happened? One moment he’d been enjoying the glorious vision of his sexy mate sleeping and the next she’d…no…he’d pissed her off with accusations.

Of course she hadn’t caused a storm. It was ludicrous. Where had he even come up with those words, and why had he blurted them out like that?

The water came on in her little bathroom. She was bathing.

Zephyr flung his arm over his face. He groaned into the crook of his elbow.
She thinks I caused a storm just to get a piece of ass?
Ugh. Of course she does. After all, wasn’t that what happened to her mother? Hadn’t Jack lured her into his bed, fucked her, and then never saw her again?

That was the only relationship Adonia had to base anything on. A one-night stand with the smooth-talking Frost.

Time ticked by and Adonia staying in the cramped bathroom. The sun would be up by now, but the only light in the cabin came from the fireplace. Finally, the door creaked open behind him, and he pulled himself to a seated position to watch his sexy mate reenter the living space. She’d secured a towel around her, hiding as much skin as possible. He would have laughed…if anything had been funny.

After all, he’d seen every inch of her body last night. The towel couldn’t hide his memory of her perfect skin, her pink nipples, her sweet swollen pussy…
