Rick gripped the diving board and hung on for dear life, his legs dangling over each side. Balanced on the board precariously, he still managed to thrust his cock in and out of her mouth. Not that she needed his assistance. He felt a bit like a pinball machine, balls shooting, bouncing, and zinging around his body, racking up points. Lights flashed, sounds pinged and dinged, as the scoreboard of his sex life multiplied.

Jade knew what he wanted and when. She demonstrated the right mixture of rubbing and sucking, intermingled with licking and squeezing. They were totally in sync. Rick moaned. His jaw clenched when she gently massaged his balls. If not for the condom, he’d already have come in her mouth.

Rick braved letting go of the diving board to gather her damp curtain of hair in his hand so he could watch her suck his cock. He’d never seen anything quite so beautiful. Not a flower. Not a snow-covered mountain. The sight tugged hard at his desire.

He white-knuckled the board and arched one last thrust into her mouth with a Neanderthal groan. Expletives rattled out of his mouth between gritted teeth. Not at all romantic, but he couldn’t stop himself.

When she sat up, he did, too, shaking his head to clear the dizziness. The sky above spun, and he grabbed the diving board in front of him to keep from tipping over into the pool and losing the game, although he felt like a winner.

“Watch out now,” she warned. “Blood’s all left your brain.”

He closed his eyes and took in a deep cleansing breath, eager for a little clarity so the competition could continue. Rick removed the condom. Tying a knot at the end, he tossed it to the pool deck. “Don’t let me forget that there.” Used condoms poolside made for a bad impression on houseguests.

Jade leaned in, lips parted, eyes half open. He sensed she needed reassurance. He kissed her, hoping his kiss conveyed his appreciation for a job well blown. Saying so would get him pushed into the water below. Instead he said, “That was fucking amazing, as usual.” Not a great improvement as far as accolades went.

His previous relationships had almost always been committed. Not that you could get much more committed than marriage.
I should be committed
. In the past, after sex came endearments and cuddling, followed shortly by sleep. Not tonight. He’d already received his marching orders. Rick had work to do.

Chapter Fourteen

“Lay back,” Rick said.

Jade did, clutching at the board beneath her thighs. “Don’t you dare let me fall in—yet.”

He hooked his fingers at the hips of her bikini bottoms and skimmed them slowly down her legs. “If you fall, I’ll be right behind you.”

She believed him, picturing them spiraling together in a tangled embrace of wetness.

“I’ll win,” he chuckled, “but I’ll be right behind you.”

Jade considered thumping him in the head, but she might fall in. She’d shove him off the board and win except he had something she wanted.

“Relax, Jade.”

She let her legs hang loose from the board, the cool night air wafting between them as an appetizer before the main course. Rick swooped in, dropping soft kisses like little bombs of ecstasy on her exposed pussy lips. She boldly let go of the board with one hand to comb her fingers through his hair. He explored her slowly, gently with his lips, a complete departure from the heated, frenzied sex the night before. Maybe he feared falling, too. Maybe he’d lost all his senses and had feelings for her.

Why had he hit Ewan? Male ego? His protection of her long-gone virtue touched her, terrified her, and thrilled her. The way he cherished her pussy now with his mouth did the same. His lips heated her from the inside out, starting in the unexpected area of her heart.

Candy had often been mocked by the other working girls as a hooker with a heart of gold. Jade had been dubbed the hooker without a heart at all. She had a heart. And feelings, as she’d told Rick. For her own protection, she kept both guarded.

“Oh, baby,” she whispered into the silence around them. With her butt and abdominal muscles, what she had left of them anyhow, Jade thrust her pussy toward his lips, fucking his mouth. “Yes.”

His tongue movements became so precise, like a damn surgeon, cutting away her fears and stress to restore a moment of peace in her frenzied life. The familiar heat of her climax spread throughout her body. Jade struggled for a breath. She’d need that breath in order to chase after the orgasm running rampant throughout her nervous system.

His lips wrapped around her clit similar to the way hers had enveloped his cock earlier. He made love to the bud, rolling it delicately between his lips, caressing it with his tongue.

“Oh, Rick,” she whimpered. Her back arched. “Please.” She begged him for sweet release, not at all accustomed to begging anyone for anything, much less begging a man for an orgasm. Shards of hot, sticky pleasure exploded in her pussy. “Yes!” Jade pushed against his mouth to prolong the climax thrumming through her belly.

She dissolved against the diving board, completely relaxed.

“Where’s the condom?”

“I think it’s under my ass,” she replied in a sleepy sort of stupor. She giggled when he searched around for it. With her eyes closed, she listened to him struggle with the wrapper, muttering and swearing mixed with heavy breathing. Silence.

“Oh.” Her grasp on the diving board tightened when he inclined toward her. “Ah,” she exclaimed when he gripped the board near her head and eased his cock inside her. His movements were slow and controlled, pulled by his biceps, like mini horizontal pull-ups.

His mouth brushed against hers. She swiped at his lips with her tongue to taste her own satisfaction.

She tensed when a squawk sounded from the baby monitor, throwing off their rhythm, nearly sending them both tumbling into the water. He stopped suddenly, silently listening for a few beats. Nothing.

“She’s fine,” he whispered.

“Are you sure?”

His lips landed on hers. “I’m sure.”

“Just finish quick.” She tucked her wishes away, opting for a guilty conscience instead. She had no right to seek out the decadent pleasure he offered.

He slid into her. “No way.” His kisses worked at persuading her. “Come out and play with me, Jade. You need this. We need this. You deserve a little fun.”

She opened her mouth to object and list all the reasons to avoid selfish indulgences like sex and sleep and sweets. But he stopped her with a searing kiss. “You’re a woman first. Mother second. Remember?”

Several seconds had passed without a peep from the monitor. Jade nodded and wrapped her legs around his hips. He continued his in-and-out. She butted against him each time, deliberately bumping her clit against him to build another perfect climax.

“Harder,” she choked out between gulps of air. “You’ve nothing to fear but fear itself.”

“It’s my knees.” He laughed. “The non-skid is a bitch. It’s more a case of no pain, no gain.”

“Tell me something I don’t know.” She’d have sandpaper like scrapes on her ass into next week.
Totally worth it
. “Don’t hold back.”

He tunneled deeper into her using long, slow thrusts. “Jade,” he growled.

“Use my real name?”

“Jillian,” he ground out between gritted teeth. “Jillian.”

She shook her head. “No. Never mind. It doesn’t sound right.” She’d been Jade for too long. She’d never be Jillian again.

His dark eyes reached into hers. “Jade,” he mouthed. Rick nuzzled her neck and whispered in her ear, “Jade, Jade, Jade. You amaze me.”

She tensed against the tidal wave of satisfaction his body bestowed on her.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
. Her second climax ran deeper and lasted longer than the previous intensely sharp, short orgasm. This one spread into new territory, lingering like a sunny day. The heat melted away her cynicism and skepticism. For a few moments, anyhow.

Jade and Rick dissolved one into the other, his final thrust plunging deep into her and holding strong as he growled the name Jade again. She tightened her legs around him, pulling him deeper inside. Embracing him. They teetered, struggling for stability without the counterbalance of her dangling legs and all their wits about them. But her back hurt and her ass was falling asleep.
And damn it, I want to cuddle
.

“Whoa.” Rick clutched the board. His muscles weren’t enough to hold the two of them. She squeezed tighter, but they wobbled past the tipping point and fell from their perch to the water below, her squealing, him roaring an oath. A splash followed.

Jade held on to him into the depths, clinging like a vine until they touched the floor of the pool. On the rise to the surface, Rick kissed her. When they broke through the water, they separated and he laughed. She splashed him and swam off. He chased. When Rick caught her in a couple powerful strokes, he draped her in his arms and legs, holding her captive. He covered her face with wet kisses. When she gave over her trust to him, opening her mouth to his tongue, he dunked her under the water and swam for the safety of the shallow end.

She pursued, catching his leg.

“Truce!” he shouted, before sinking beneath the water.

Jade released her hold on him and waited for Rick to resurface. Instead, he pulled her under to kiss her again. Together, they sank to the bottom. Hugging her tight, he pushed off the cement of the pool, sending them toward the sky and stars and moon, and most importantly, air.

***

Rick woke suddenly.
Was I snoring?

The weight of the world rested on his bladder. He skimmed his hand along the mattress next to him. No Jade.
What’s new?
Throwing the covers back, he crawled out of bed. A minor hangover headache throbbed in his brain. Pausing for a moment, he listened intently to the baby monitor. Nothing. He shuffled toward the bathroom, squinting against the daylight. Hearing running water didn’t stop him from opening the bathroom door. A bouncer with a black belt in karate couldn’t stop him.

He lifted the toilet seat and groaned. “Oh God. Oh that feels so good.”

“Are you…?” Jade said from the shower.

“Pissing. Yes. Oh yes,” he nearly groaned his reply before flushing the toilet. She screamed. “Sorry.” He poked his head in the shower.

“Have you ever heard of knocking?” She threw a wet washcloth at him, hitting him squarely in the chest with a splat. She folded her arms over her breasts. “Have you ever heard of boundaries? Privacy?”

“The door was unlocked.” He stepped into her shower.
Why not?
She was already angry.
What’s new?
He groaned when the warm spray splashed against his skin.

“Steal my shower too, Rick.”

He swept her up in an embrace. His lips closed in on hers, taking her mouth right, left, and center. “You’re beautiful when you’re angry.”

“Then I must be beautiful a lot,” she said. “Extra ’specially beautiful now.”

“Now that you mention it….” he began.

“You think your sweet talk makes it all right to barge into the bathroom, scald me by flushing, and then invade my private shower?” She shook free of his embrace. “I’m done anyhow.” She stepped out of the tub.

Rick closed his eyes and sighed. He’d hoped for a little early morning action. Marriage was not what he’d expected. At. All. The good was better than he’d ever dreamed. The bad was worse than he could even imagine. Jade forced him to feel things he’d avoided all his life. Jealousy. Fear. Loss. He’d miss her. He’d miss Coral when the inevitable caught up to them.

After a quick clean, he snatched a towel and secured it around his waist. Jade punished the mirror with a hand towel. He’d fogged up her mirror. He’d pay dearly for that infraction, too.

He picked up an open jar of cream from the bathroom counter. “What’s this?”

“For my nipples.” She opened her towel and flashed her ravaged breasts.

No wonder she acted cranky. No wonder she’d covered her chest in the shower. “Jeez, Jade. Stop breastfeeding.”

“The longer I breastfeed, the better for Coral, or so they say.” She closed the towel. “I’ll tough it out a while longer.” Pinching the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger, Jade began to sob. Not entirely about her sore nipples, if he had to guess.

Rick patted the counter. “Let me.”

She scooted her butt on the counter and dropped the towel. It fell around her hips. Planting her hands behind her, she thrust her nipples out. Rick scanned the directions as best he could with naked knockers mere inches away. He scooped some goop and gently smeared it over her nipples. She tensed at first touch, but relaxed. He rubbed it in a circular motion with his thumb.

“Can I just say, nice tits?” He’d never actually seen them before, outside of breastfeeding.

Her lip twitched. “For your information, they’re not normally this big.”

He didn’t mind playing doctor with her all day long, administering creams, examining every inch for potential cancerous moles, and generally reassuring her. “That’s not even the nicest thing about them.”

“I’m getting stretch marks.” She pointed to the beginning of a very minor flaw in an unnoticeable spot close to her armpit. “Look at this.” Dropping the towel, she pointed to her small patch of pubic hair. “Stretch marks.”

He zoomed in to examine her complaint. “Hardly noticeable. And a small price to pay for Coral. Am I right?” As she nodded reluctantly at him, another tear popped out. “What are the tears really about?” He wiped one away with his knuckle.

“Pick a reason.”

Rick cupped her neck with his hand and rested his forehead against hers. “I’m not only your husband, Jade. I’m your friend.”

She pursed her lips and nodded. “I can’t lose her. I can’t.”

“We won’t let that happen.”

Jade shuddered. “What if I’m not a good parent?”

“You’re an excellent mother.” True statement. Next to his mom, she’d be award-winning. Pitted against the typical mother, he’d rank her above average, not that he was an expert in parenting. She had the natural instincts and plenty of determination. “But you need to take better care of yourself.”
