Stax hiked a leg over Stranglers, Kelley green, 1947 Knucklehead. The metal flaked flaming shamrocks, danced in the sun adding depth and dimension to the tank. She had missed the feel of the big bike vibrating beneath her, and the closeness of Stranglers body snuggly tucked between her legs. Normally, on a day like this, on any given back road, she would wait impatiently until there were no cars in sight. When the coast was clear, she would "take the girls out for a walk" soaking up the sensation's of the hot sun and brisk wind on her tits. But today, her mind was so focused on walking into an empty house, the thought didn't even cross her mind.

They didn't go to the Clubhouse first, Stax wanted to get home and face head on what she knew was waiting, silence. Her father's room would be empty, the smell of his pipe would be absent and the house would be still. She wasn't entirely sure how this was going to effect her, but she knew that it was inevitable. Holding on tight to Strangler, she tried hard not to think about it, but that was not possible.

They pulled up in the drive and shut down the bikes. Stax could hear music. Music? That's not music, that's Opera!" She knew immediately what that meant. "Serenity!" She yelped. Serenity was here! Stax ran into the house as fast as she could get there. Serenity was standing in the middle of the living room, singing her heart out, unable to hear Stax as she came bounding in. She did however, feel the presence of another being and turned around sharpley to find herself on the recieving end of a ferocious bear-hug. For a brief moment, normal was in the house, and it felt wonderful. But as soon as Serenity turned the music off, the silence was immediate and the two looked at each other, lost, each one desperately trying not to break down.

"You know that they are still out there, don't you?" Serenity spoke first, "Waiting to see if we are going to fall apart." They both knew that it was going to happen. "We, are going to be just fine." Stax told her firmly, not quiet sure just how long it would take before they fell into a fit of tears together. "You know that I am to call him immediately if I feel that you are losing it, right?" Serenity said to her best friend, who nodded back her acknowledgement, knowing exactly where those instructions came from. "Let's let 'em off the hook for now." Stax said, as she walked to the door and waved the guys inside. "Looks like I'm gonna be having a sleep-over tonight," Said Stax to the guys, "Wanna join?" Strangler cited pending club business as his reason for declining, and Samson told her that he was also going to head to the Clubhouse  and have Slacker wash the sand and salt off his bike. He took excellent care of his flat black, '70 Shovelhead Bobber, with it's custom made ape hangers and three foot bitch bar.

"Alrighty then," Stax announced, "But we are going to order Chinese take-out." She chided. "But we just ate breakfast an less than two hours ago!" Samson said in disbelief. "Not for now, assbite, to be delivered for dinner." She laughed, "We might even go buy a new movie too." She added, trying to bait them, offering them the opportunity to stay if they were still terribly concerned. "Naw, it's all good," replied Samson, "You girls have fun." He blew them a kiss and walked out to his bike. Strangler kissed Stax goodbye, "Tap ya later, Bitch" He whispered as he blew a kiss over her head to Serenity. "Call me if you need me, Angel."

"Serenity?" Stax looked at her friend, happy that she was here with her. She saw that the house had been cleaned and was hit by a disturbing thought. "Yeah?" Serenity responded, coming out of the kitchen where she had been putting away the clean dishes. "What do you need honey?"

"Thank you for cleaning up the house and all. I appreciate your help, but, but-" She trailed off. "I didn't touch Slider's room sweetie," She answered knowing instinctively what was going through her mind. "Or his bathroom, and even though I cleaned the ashtray, I didn't empty his pipe or anything like that. It's all still the same as he left it, until you want it otherwise, K?" She said, hoping that she hadn't done anything that would bring angst to Stax. "K" Answered Stax with a weak, wobbly smile, "Thank you sister." She made a mental note that when she felt ready, she wanted to gift Samson with Slider's favorite pipe. Smoking their pipes, was something that they enjoyed together often. The one that was in the ashtray now was his daily pipe, but like Samson, he had quite a collection of them. Samson was always stopping by with a new tobacco flavor that he wanted to try, and although Slider would fill his pipe and give it a shot, he was too old school to change and only smoked his own favorite brand.

Serenity sat down beside her on the couch and hugged her tight, that was all it took. They both broke down together. Slider was like a father to Serenity, especially after her own father had died when she was in grade-school. He was a club member since before she was born, so like Stax, she grew up with the club. They were as family as family could get, and much closer than most blood sisters would ever be. "Where were you?" Stax sobbed as she held onto Serenity, she didn't want to let her go. "I'll tell you all about it, later." she answered, still sobbing. It had taken alot out of her to enter the house this morning after she had arrived at the Clubhouse to find out why in the world everyone was searching for her. Griff had taken her call last night and would tell her nothing except that there would be a plane ticket waiting at whatever airport she was near. When she questioned him he told her sharply, "Y
ou have thirty minutes lass, to get me the information for your ticket, unless your in prison or on your death bed, you have to come home now."

Twenty minutes later she called back with the information, and several hours after that, she was on the red-eye to Florida.  After landing, she was ushered to the Clubhouse by Slacker, who would tell her nothing, except that she was pretty and he liked her new hair color. Griff, Moby and Rage were there waiting. Taking her to Slider's office, they surrounded her and painfully explained what had occured, and all that had happened afterwards. They were kind, gentle and loving with her, just like they always were, but you could see that it took it's toll, to have to relay this news to her, after all that they had been through in the last week.

She was in shock, heartbroken, and ashamed of herself for being out of touch for so long. In tears, she promised, "This will never happen again." With love and understanding in his voice, Griff replied
"Aye, lass, it will. 'Tis your way, and we love you just the way you are.
"
In an effort to drive home the message of staying in contact, Moby told her "
I'm gonna shove a 'GPS' up your arse, before you can take out of here again.
" And in the midst of their pain they burst into laughter, followed by more tears, hugs and kisses. Serenity had no doubt that he would do it, given half a chance. "
Ya might want to invest in a butt-plug, before you stop in to say 'goodbye' next time, lass.
" Rage had whispered in her ear when he hugged her.

When she was taken to the house to wait for Stax's return, she cried hard over the loss of Slider. She just couldn't believe that this had happened. She would never see Slider's smiling face again or hear his precious voice. She tried to keep herself busy by cleaning, but she would stop to cry. Pulling herself together, she would try to clean some more. It was hard to find anything left to clean, as some of the ol' ladies had been in already. She was going to cook up some mini-meals for freezing, just to find that the refrigerator and freezer were already over-flowing. When she checked the refrigerator and deep freeze in the garage, she found the same. To keep herself busy, she took a shower and put on some music, thinking that singing would soothe her. She loved to sing the soundtrack to her favorite movie when she was emotional, and Stax kept a C.D. of it at the house just for her.

Now, Stax had come home and here they were, crying and clinging to each other, unable to stop. Neither knew how long they sat there like that. Eventually, as they always do,  the tears stopped and they went and washed their faces. Looking at each other in the bathroom mirror, they gave each other their best supportive smile and returned to the living room. Both of them, painfully aware of the empty easy chair, and the deafening silence.

Chapter 7

"The Gathering"

The next morning, Serenity woke up on the couch with a blanket over her. Looking for Stax, she went to the kitchen. Although she did not immediately find her, she started a pot of coffee before heading to the bathroom. Stax wasn't there either, so Serenity brushed her teeth and hair and continued the search. She knew exactly where to look next.

Quietly opening the door to Sliders bedroom, she found her, arms tightly wrapped around her father's pillow. She backed away, closing the door without letting it catch so as to not wake her. Serenity headed back to the kitchen, knowing that the guys would be coming by  and family would be showing up soon. Going to the fridge and pulled out several flats of eggs and a 10 lb. box of thick cut bacon. Placing as many slices as she could in the largest commercial cast iron skillet that she could find, started the bacon. Next, she began cutting up massive amounts of onions, bellpeppers and potatoes. Grabbing another huge skillet, she poured some of the bacon fat into the second pan to fry up the potates. Flipping the first batch of bacon, she then started on her first double batch of homemade biscuits. As quietly as she could, she began the preparations of a Full Club Breakfast, aware that she would never be allowed to finish it. Family was coming.

As she made herself a cup of Irish coffee, she heard the shower turn on. Placing a shot of Irish Whiskey and cremé in a cup for Stax, she waited to pour the coffee itself until she came to the kitchen. Breaking open two dozen eggs, she grabbed a big bowl and beat them up to scramble. Turning the potatoes, she added the bell pepper, waiting until they were nearly done before adding the onion. She heard the sound of thunder, and went to unlock the front door before running back to turn another batch of bacon, start another pan of potatoes and more biscuits.

"Morning Prez! She's in the shower." She informed him as he walked into the kitchen with Samson on his heels. "Breakfast soon enough guys, you want I should pour you a cup of coffee?" Strangler glanced around at the food she was preparing, "We'll get it. Keep doing what your doing sister. Thank you." he answered, tipping the whiskey bottle into his empty cup. "You expecting an army?" Samson questioned as he reached towards the pan she had just pulled out of the oven. Hands full, she answered, while pushing him away from the biscuits with her hip. "Yepper, a little man on an iron horse ran down the street this morning screaming as if a Banshee was after his ass, "The Gaels are coming! The Gaels are coming! So I figured that if I were to feed them well, they just might be nice to us." Smacking Samson's hand away from the bacon, she grinned and offered them both a bacon stuffed biscuit. "Sweet! I'm burned out on that restaurant shit." Strangler told her, grateful for anything homemade. "I'm fucking starving," Samson proclaimed, his mouth full, "I could eat the ass- end out of a ragdoll right now!"

As Serenity prepared another two dozen eggs for the pan, Stax walked into the room, wrapped up in her father's bathrobe. "Good morning my family," she smiled, "It's gonna be a good day if we let it." Serenity poured her coffee, "Good morning sister, we will make it so." she said sweetly, handing her a biscuit. Stax kissed her man, and with her eyes assured him that she was good. Watching Serenity move from pan to pan like an experienced chef, she grinned asking, "Are we being invaded?" To which Strangler relplied, "Aye, by  Gaels and Banshee's, from what I understand." And as he spoke, they heard the thunder and knew that it was on. "And so it begins." he added. They knew the sound of each other's bikes and could tell who was pulling up long before they came through the door. "Ryker!" They all said together, and as he shut down his bike, they heard the thunder again, "Griff" they said, again in unison.

Serenity turned back to her cooking just as Cat walked in with Griff, who was followed by Ryker. More thunder was heard, but amongst the 'good mornings' and declarations of love, the "Name that Biker" game was cut short. Pleasantly suprised, Cat told Serenity "
What a good lass, to have done such a wonderful job at getting breakfast started
!" And with a firm tone, she added, "
But that will be quite enough now, you understand. You go sit your arse down right now and enjoy your morning
." She was happy to take over while Serenity enjoyed a cup of coffee. Cat kept scrambling eggs and cooking bacon until the last two pans of the biscuits came out of the oven. Then she poured the bacon grease into the coffee can in the middle of the stove and fried up a 10 lb. box of sausage. Once that was going, she began preparing a batter for the mushrooms. When Dimples came in with Rage, she prepared 2 loaves of thick whole grain toast, some fried beans and began slicing the tomatoes. When the Tandy came in, she went about setting out the dishes and silverware, as others continued to arrive. While she was busy, her ol' man Twitch, went out to the backyard to let the twins play while he had his coffee.

Each women in turn, would have the other take a seat while she took up where they left off. Eventually all of the food, utensils, glasses, plates, napkins, condiments and a plethera of food had been placed in buffet fashion on the big table in the middle of the Florida room. It was a large sun room, that spanned the back of the house. It was Della who had went in to start the big commercial coffee pot that Slider had been wise enough to purchase from a failing restaurant. That was where most of the dishes that were laid out came from too, even the Clubhouse kitchen was full of them. He had pretty much bought everything that they were selling, and talked them out of several things that they weren't.
