I feel funny and achy,” I whine.

“I
just bet you do,” Essie knowingly purrs, but doesn’t explain. “We’ll get that taken care of tonight,” her voice is rough, like what mine usually sounds like, but her natural voice is very girly.

“Let’s go, birthday girl. You have a wild night ahead of you.”

~
Chapter Three~

I feel bad a
bout the gift my parents gave me- a car. I ran down the steps to say goodbye and the house was empty. I found half of my family on the lawn and Clover and the twins on their porch next door. A big bow was on the hood of an old
VW Beetle
. I cried in shame, not happiness. It made me sad that my parents care that much about me, but I have no clue what to do in life. I know I’m only eighteen, but the rest of the graduates have gone off to college or work here in town at jobs they have a future. At twenty, Essie has already graduated from Cosmetology school and works at the local salon. Essie loves it and she was born for it. What was I born for?

Essie’
s driving since she knows where we’re going and she won’t tell me where. I’m not allowed to drive my own present- not fair. I said as much, but was ignored. Essie is just as pushy as everyone else. If it weren’t for the fact that she pushes me towards fun shit, I’d get wicked pissed.

We pull up to the curb in the
residential part of town and I look around in confusion. “Um… what?” I gesture to the maple-lined street in question.

“We’re picking someone up, and then we’
re going to grab a bite to eat.” Staring into the rearview mirror she applies a third coat of lipstick on her already flawless red pucker.

“Holy fuck,” hisses between my
clenched teeth when I see who is strutting up to my car. “Mr. Kline is going to kill me or maybe you… but most definitely him,” I point at Kieren Mason as he strolls up to the car with a huge shit-eating grin on his face.

“Ladies,” Kieren charmingly
says in greeting. He opens my door and I look around for where he’s going to sit. Essie laughs at the frantic expression on my face.

“Kieren gets the seat, and
you get his lap.” Essie chuckles when I blush. Our eyes flick down to Kieren’s lap, and we giggle like dumb-shits. We get settled in the seat and I’m relieved that it’s dark out or everyone would see how embarrassed I am, and that would be even more embarrassing.

“How’s the birthda
y girl? I love the new ride. Someone took really good care of this vintage Beetle.” Kieren shifts me on his lap and my skirt rides up to the top of my fishnets. His hard body cushions mine. I can feel the power coiled in his thighs and the heat of his breath on my neck.

“Thanks, it’s been fun so far,” I say as I pull my skirt down an inch in modesty. He shifts again and we do this routine for a few minutes until I give up and
leave it where it lies. Mr. Kline cautioning me to be a good girl echoes in my mind.

I know Essie means well. I’ve had a wicked crush on this boy for years.
She went to school with his older brother, Devon. I know Devon better than Kieren after countless parties I attended at Essie’s whining request. The bad thing about hanging with the older crowd is that when they graduate, all your friends are gone. I was left with those in my class. Kieren was a good replacement after Devon graduated. I don’t blame Essie. She knows I’ve been crushing on Kieren for years, but I’m scared Mr. Kline is going to kick my ass, and then theirs.

We pull into our local no-name diner. I shuffle off
Kieren’s lap and his hand surreptitiously grazes my side. If I had boobs, he’d have copped a feel. I snort at his poor attempt. He’ll find nothing here worth sneakily seeking.

We settle in for burgers and cokes
, and engage in small talk. I was worried that Kieren would be boring, but we have a lot in common. It isn’t exactly comfortable, but it’s not forced. Essie is a huge help keeping the conversation flowing. When it wanes I push a fry in my mouth.

“How’s your brother?” I conversationally ask
Kieren to keep the flow. Essie looks at me in surprise for asking of Devon.

“Fine,” Kieren
curtly replies, effectively ending it.
Mmm-kay
.

“Did you get your truck fixed?” I ask o
f Kieren’s broken four-wheel-drive.

“Truck?” He
asks in confusion. I realize Kieren lied about why he sold Mr. Kline the action figures. It’s none of my business, so I drop it.

“Oh,” Kieren exclaims
as he remembers his lie. “It’s working great now.” He grandly smiles.

“You’ll have to tell me
the name of your mechanic. He’s a maniac if he works that fast,” I sarcastically say, and Essie kicks me in the shin.

“Oh, he’s d
efinitely a maniac, alright.” Kieren smirks at his private joke.

Hey, now, I’m not playing the wilting flower for Kieren. I may be a tiny girl, but the only difference between me and a guy is ovaries, a uterus, and a vagina. My bullshit detector is screaming.

I’m not stupid. I see Kieren covertly checking out Essie and the waitstaff. Kieren stares at Essie’s cleavage while his hand tries to sneak up my thigh. I roll my eyes at Essie. I don’t blame Kieren for looking. Essie has a pushup bra on and the ladies are overflowing her blouse. The top few buttons couldn’t be buttoned and several are threatening to pop open. I give that thread another hour before it frays and that button pops an eye out.

If I hadn’t had the lecture from Mr. Kline earlier
, I would have been flattered by the attention Kieren is giving me. I would have turned a blind-eye to his roving-eye. I wouldn’t have seen the signs for what they are- disrespect. I get Auggie’s lecture now. I’m a conquest, and Essie is who Kieren would choose to spend time with and sleep with. Essie seems oblivious, and I wonder if Mr. Kline will give her the same lecture. She’s not a virgin, but almost as naïve as me when it comes to boys.

“I have your real g
ift in the car, girlfriend.” Essie winks at me, and Kieren’s eyes glaze over in excitement. He knows what the evening holds. I just hope Kieren knows that I’m not on the itinerary.

I shuffle into Kieren’s
lap in the cramped car. I love what my dad had in mind. He made sure I could only have one passenger at a time- sneaky dad. But it is a problem tonight. I’m sure Essie thought I’d like this and not see it as an issue, but I’m so over Kieren.

Kieren’
s smarmy, clumsy hands paw at my ass in a poor attempt to mask it as helping me sit in his lap. That same hand keeps brushing my side and pulling my skirt up. My shorts and the tops of my stockings are now on full display.

Kieren’
s erection is digging into my ass cheek. I can’t wait for this night to be over. It’s my birthday and I feel like I’m held hostage. The small car shrinks with every caress of Kieren’s beefy fingers. I close my eyes and breathe through my nose, praying for patience. I almost grab the door handle and jump out when a finger slides under the edge my shorts.

As soon as the car pulls
into a parking lot I hop from Kieren’s lap and drag the cold December air into my lungs.

“Willow?” Essie calls as sh
e hurries around the car after me. Kieren’s arrogant smirk turns my stomach. Does he not see that I’m not interested or does he just not give a shit?

I need a smoke- a potent one- an
d a drink or half a dozen! I grab Essie’s hand and yank her a hundred feet away, leaving Kieren to guard the car.

“What’
s wrong?” Essie looks worried.

“Can we drop him somehow?
Kieren’s being handsy and I hate it,” I grumble. I hold back the nausea that threatens to overpower me. The alarms are going off inside my mind again. It’s not the same kind as before with Auggie, these are warning alarms that are similar to the ones Isis elicited.

“It’s okay, s
weetie. It’s weird at first.” Essie says with pity in her soft eyes.

“It’s not about s
ex,” I hiss. “It’s that it’s Kieren. I may not have any experience, but I’m not losing my virginity to some little douche who watches my best friend while trying to get his fat fingers into my panties. I’m not that desperate, and you shouldn’t be either.”

“Oh,” Essie
draws out. “OH!” Her fingers pull on the charm on my necklace. “I get it. We’ll lose him in the club. Come on back to the car and I’ll get your gift.”

My gift is a fake ID. I’m twenty-one and it has my actual name. It’s flawless. “I don’t want
to know, do I?” I murmur in awe.

“Nope, you
sure don’t.” Essie reluctantly passes an ID to Kieren, and I can see her wheels turning. She wished she hadn’t gotten him one and we could’ve left him behind. We share a look that speaks a thousand words.

“I thought you could get into clu
bs at eighteen as long as you get an under twenty-one hand stamp so you won’t be served.” I follow Essie to the club through the packed parking lot. Kieren sneaky fingers grab my ass and I have to bite my tongue so I don’t lash out at him with a scathing remark.

“It’s not that kind of club. No one under twenty-one is admitted. A girl I work with told me about it.”
Essie says over her shoulder.

“Oh, you’re in for a shock, Willow. Your brother is in there tonight
, as he is most nights.” Kieren says in a way that makes me cringe, but I don’t take his bait.

“Robbie’s here?” Essie says in shock
, giving Kieren the reaction he was looking for from me. “I’d wondered why he wasn’t at the house tonight.”

“Robin
is most definitely here, along with a few others,” Kieren arrogantly voices. “You’d be surprised to know who owns it, I bet,” flows cryptically from his annoyingly perfect lips.

I don’t give Kieren
the satisfaction by asking who. If I was meant to know, I’d already know. It does hurt to know my brother went to a club instead of wishing me a happy birthday. I haven’t seen him in a week and he didn’t even send me a card. I know I’m not the center of the universe and that he has more than one sister, but I only have one brother.

We get though the bouncer without an issue. I held my breath the entire time
the big guy scrutinized my ID. He took one look at me and let me in. He gave Kieren a difficult time until he read the boy’s name. He simply stepped to the side and let us all in the door.

The packed club reminds me of a concert- packed bodies, loud music, and excitement flavor
ing the air. I hugely grin and intertwine my fingers with Essie’s. I don’t want to get separated from her. She pulls me through the crowd in a strange pattern until I realize we’re losing Kieren to the mass of bodies.

“You’re a fucking
genius,” I shout at my cousin.

“You do
n’t wanna play with little boys, then we will find you a man. Kieren doesn’t have any skills anyway. He’s always with virgins and it’s stunted him. Trust me,” Essie sadly says.

Essie’s
last comment made me look at her, and we communicate with our eyes. She was one of Kieren’s virgins. Essie wouldn’t tell me who she was with, only that it wasn’t a very good experience. I squeeze Essie’s hand, letting her know that I understand. I ignore the sting that my best friend lost her virginity to the boy I was crushing on. I thought there was some girl code against that kind of shit. Maybe it was Karma biting her in the ass by making it a shitty experience.

“Let’s celebrate!” Essie
pulls me to the bar and orders us a drink. I may not have been fucking my way through school, but I’m a pro at sucking back alcohol. I down the shot without a thought and wait for Essie to pop hers back. I can’t handle much because of my size, but I will have one or two to loosen up.

We join the swarm. We dance, sing, laugh, and shout. A few other girls join us
, and I recognize one that graduated with Essie. Her name is Bethany and I find out she works with Essie at the salon. Bethany was the one who told Essie about the club.

Three drinks later,
with one eye making sure Kieren doesn’t find us, we are sweaty and bright-eyed and feeling damn fine. A couple guys chat up the ladies and leave me alone. I’d take offense, but I look like a kid playacting with real women. I wouldn’t pick me either. Our ladies branch off with a few guys until it’s just Essie, me, and her suitors. She takes their numbers but doesn’t leave me.

“I can go home and you’d be free to play with those dudes. The one is freaking hot.”
I fan my face and grin.

“Not a chance, Willow. It’s your birthday
, and I’d rather hang with you.” I know Essie means it and it makes me feel worse. I feel bad that she has such a loser for a cousin. I’m holding her ass back, as usual.

Kieren alert! Kieren alert,” Essie giggles. Sure enough, Kieren’s blond head is weaving through the crowd. He makes eye contact with me and I groan at the smirk he throws my way.

I’m yanked so hard that
my arm almost gets dislocated. “Jesus, Essie,” I grunt. “Did you forget your strength?”
