Laura Buzo was born in Sydney, the second of three daughters. Her father is the late playwright and author Alex Buzo, who died in 2006. She was educated at Sydney Girls High School and the University of Sydney, and holds degrees in Arts and Social Work. Through adolescence and early adulthood, Laura held a variety of jobs including supermarket checkout operator, waitress, gift-wrapper, cookie chef and office administrator, before commencing work as a social worker shortly after graduation. In recent years she took a chunk of annual leave from her job and sat down at her kitchen table with pen, paper and an idea.
Good Oil
is her first novel. Laura lives in Sydney with her daughter.
The author wishes to thank Mara Print, Julia Shearsby and Stephen Mansfield for their exhortations to start writing this novel, and their encouragement to continue.
And Jamie and Margaret. For everything.
