“Yes. I am. We all are, or rather, four of us still are.”

Paige let out an audible sigh, her breath catching in her throat. It was real.
He
was real. A million questions bubbled up in her mind, but they were so jumbled and confused she couldn’t give voice to just one.

“There were twelve of us originally. We started this resort after being cast down to Earth for our sins.”

“Your sins? What did you do?”

It was true. It was all true! When he grinned again she nearly lost it. The compulsion to touch him was so strong, made even more desperate by the knowledge that if she did, she’d be touching an actual angel. A fallen angel, but an angel nonetheless.

“We didn’t fulfill our mission. We were sent here in 1919 to help people find more appropriate ways to express their dislike of booze, but instead we got drunk on illegal gin and seduced women.”

“So you were punished? Is that what you mean?”

“Yes.”

“In what way?” Paige moved closer to him, used to the pumpkin pie scent now. Clearly it emanated from him, just as the smell of ginger had come from Gregory, not the food.

“Well, since our preference was for two of us to seduce one woman, the only way we can earn mortality and thus have a chance at redemption is for a mortal woman to fall in love with two of us and choose to stay here. It’s meant to be a constant reminder of our sins.”

Paige shook her head slightly. Whatever she’d been expecting him to say, that wasn’t it. “That’s harsh.”

“And a huge sacrifice for her. We can’t marry her because of bigamy laws, and a demon added an interesting little twist to our fate.”

“A demon is involved in this?”

“She was.”

Paige glanced around, afraid yet fascinated at the same time. “What do you mean she added an interesting twist? What did she do to you?”

“She made us sterile, even if we do become mortal. We can’t have children. So the women who choose to stay with us won’t have the whole traditional marriage and babies thing to look forward to. That’s why I said it’s a huge sacrifice.”

There’d been nothing about a demon or their punishment on the message boards.

“No doubt you’ve seen her photo in the lobby. The resort is named after her.”

“The woman dressed like a flapper?” Just inside the front doors was a huge portrait that adorned the center of one wall covered in photos. The woman in it had fascinated Paige, and when she’d asked about her, the bellhop carrying her bags had made an offhand remark that she was a cousin.

“Yes. That’s Lilith.”

“Why did you name the resort after her?”

“She threatened to burn it down if we didn’t.”

“So, she’s not really a cousin then.”

Demetrius shook his head.

“And the surnames you use? What’s up with those?”

He chuckled. “Not very imaginative I suppose, but at the time we thought it was funny. They’re a play on words. Neville for ‘Nephilim’ and Fallon for ‘fallen.’”

It was one thing for people to speculate and pay lip service to the occult, but sitting here with Demetrius, listening to him tell the story, made it real in a way Paige hadn’t expected. She felt sorry for him. She also wanted to help, but had no idea if or how she could. “You said there were twelve originally, but I know of only six who now run the resort.”

Demetrius nodded. “Eight have chosen mortal lives. Zach and Emmett did so a few months ago. The others are dead now, except for Blade and Cristian, but they’re pretty old and no longer have a hand in the day-to-day operations.”

“Are they still here? At the resort?”

“Yes. They live in a suite on this floor in fact, with Joelle. She chose them in 1952.”

“And what about the woman who chose Zach and Emmett?”

Demetrius grinned. “I believe you met her when you checked in.”

Paige put a hand to her mouth. A dark-haired woman had been leaning against the counter chatting with Tiffany, the front desk clerk, when Paige checked in. She’d introduced herself and had apologized for one of the owners not being on hand to greet them. “Abigail Cosslin?”

“One and the same.”

“Do you think she’d talk to me about this?”

Demetrius’s eyes clouded over. “Ah, I wish you wouldn’t say anything, Paige. I’m not sure the others would be happy to know I told you all this. We’ve managed to keep it a secret for a long time. Our staff knows, but they keep quiet.”

“Oh, of course, I’m sorry. I’m just so thrilled. I mean, I’ve believed in these things all my life, but I never thought I’d…you know…speak to one. To an angel.”

He smiled and touched her arm. The spark of electricity warmed her entire body and sent her thoughts racing with decadent images again.

“Can you do everything I can do?” Paige stifled a giggle. Perhaps she should clarify the question.

“Yes, everything. I can eat and drink if I want to, but I don’t need to. And I don’t need to sleep, although I can.”

“What about getting sick, like catching a cold or the flu?”

“I can’t get sick, and I can’t pass on any diseases to a mortal.”

“And what about sex?” She might as well ask that, too.

“Paige, in this form, I’m as human as you are, so yes, I can make love.”

He stared into her eyes with an expression so hot it would melt ice. If he had the power to make her hallucinate his eyes growing large and filling with light, what was he like in bed?

Chapter Three

The air in the room grew hot until it felt like someone had cranked up the furnace as high as it would go, but she didn’t care. She wanted this man, or angel, or whatever he was.

He reached over and pulled her closer just as she lifted her chin to kiss him. His lips were as warm and inviting as she’d imagined them to be. They moved over hers in ways she’d only dreamed about, and the result was a flood of wetness in her panties that she was sure would leak onto the leather sofa any second now.

She wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders and parted her lips to let his tongue inside. It assaulted her mouth, and she gave in, pushing her body against his. He ran his hand up her thigh, his fingers like fire against her skin. When he reached the hem of her skirt, he kept going, and she moved her leg aside so he could reach between them.

His hand against the front of her panties was hard, probing. His fingers grazed her clit through the fabric in exactly the right way to force a groan into his open mouth. She became light-headed with need. No man had ever brought her to orgasm with only a kiss and a feel, but this one was about to.

She spread her legs further apart, willing him to slip a finger under the panties, but he just kept kissing her and rubbing her clit through the fabric. When she moved one of her hands and placed it over his, he pulled out of the kiss and cupped her chin with his free hand.

“You’ll come when I tell you to, Paige. If you try to do it yourself again, I’ll handcuff you for the rest of the night.”

His grin alone nearly brought on the orgasm. The tone of his voice was dominant and playful at the same time. Paige sucked in deep breaths of air to keep from passing out. She’d never met anyone so sexy or intense.

“Now lie back and put your arms over your head, and keep them there.”

“Oh…” She did as she asked, her breathing so fast and shallow now that she wondered how she’d survive the climax let alone the rest of the night.

He spread her legs far apart and stared at her crotch for so long she cried out. All he did was grin, holding her gaze as he lightly ran his fingers up and down her legs, from her shoes to her panties. “You have great gams. Very shapely.”

“Demetrius…please…”

“Begging won’t help, Paige.”

She’d never been teased like this. It was beyond anything her imagination could have conjured up. Her pussy was soaked. Surely he could see the wet mark on her panties by now? Maybe that excited him further?

Finally he touched her pussy again, softer than before, and Paige cried out in frustration again and banged her fists on the armrest above her head. She bucked her hips, trying to push him into rubbing her harder.

“If you don’t stop that I’ll leave those panties on for an hour.”

“Demetrius, please. I can’t stand anymore.”

He shook his head. “Me either.”

Before Paige could react, he lifted her off the sofa and threw her over one shoulder. She moaned as he walked down the hall with her. When they entered what she assumed was his bedroom, he tossed her onto a huge four-poster bed, and she scrambled to sit up.

Demetrius rummaged in a dresser drawer, his back to her. When he turned around, she gasped at the sight of bondage cuffs and rope in his hands. He tossed them on the bed next to her. “You brought this on yourself, Paige.”

The cuffs were leather with D-rings attached, and as she ran a finger lightly over the rope, she was delighted to find it soft. She hoped he knew what he was doing and that she wasn’t making a huge mistake. Paige had some experience with BDSM but had never allowed a stranger to restrain her. She didn’t even know him. How much could she trust him? Then again, surely if the owners were mistreating their guests someone would have complained on the Internet by now?

“You’re afraid of me.” It wasn’t a question. He sensed her trepidation, or he could read her mind. He sat next to her and gazed into her eyes. “Please don’t be. Paige, I promise you I would never hurt you. If I do anything you don’t like just tell me and I’ll stop. I swear it.”

“Can you read my thoughts?”

The corners of his mouth turned up. “No, but I can sense your emotions.” He patted the cuffs. “So…are you game?”

“Yes, but…may I use the bathroom first?”

Demetrius laughed. “Of course you may.” He pointed toward a closed door. “It’s in there. I’ll get you some water to drink. You’re going to need it.”

She grinned as she scooted off the bed, and he gave her ass a light smack. “Hurry up.”

When Paige returned to the room, she could hear Demetrius whistling somewhere in the suite. She sat on the edge of the bed and hugged her knees. Every inch of her body was alive with desire, and she shivered as she imagined what he would do to her.

When he walked back into the room, he placed a two-liter bottle of water on the nightstand. Then he sat next to her and pulled her into his arms. His kiss was rough and deep. Paige moaned into his open mouth when he grasped her arms and put them over her head. He held on to both wrists with one strong hand, and with the other he massaged one breast through the fabric of her dress.

Paige squeezed her thighs together, her climax so close it brought tears to her eyes. When Demetrius moved his hand to the other breast she couldn’t take any more. She tried to free her hands, but that wasn’t going to happen. His grip was ridiculously strong.

He pulled out of the kiss and gave her a look that would melt steel. She gasped at the raw lust pouring off him in waves. “Paige, what did I tell you about making yourself come?”

“I didn’t do anything. You’re holding on to my hands.”

He narrowed his eyes and the corners of his mouth turned up. The hell he couldn’t read her thoughts. He’d known exactly what she’d been trying to do. “Right.” A huge grin spread over his face as he let go of her wrists to gently pull her dress over her head and toss it next to them on the bed. Then he picked pick up the cuffs and placed one on each wrist.

His eyes roamed over her naked breasts, sending shivers up and down her spine. “I’m glad you weren’t wearing a bra. I won’t lie to you, Paige. I love big tits.”

She couldn’t help but laugh. “And I love your candor, Demetrius.”

“You have a beautiful curvy body, and I’m going to lick every inch of it. Lie on your back.”

The tone of his voice nearly brought on her orgasm. It was soft but commanding, and the sound washed over her body like warm water, filling every crevice with molten desire. She fell back against the pillows and put her arms over her head, then watched him thread the rope through the rings in the cuffs and bind them together. He placed the ends of the rope next to her on the bed.

“We’ll use the rest of this later, but for now this will do.” He cupped her breasts, squeezing them hard and moaning softly in the back of his throat. “These deserve special attention.”

Paige thought she’d go out of her mind. This man was the sexiest tease she’d ever met. Her body trembled in anticipation as he began to tease her nipples with his teeth and tongue. She writhed and moaned, moving her legs on the bed until he rose and walked toward the dresser again.

“I’m going to have to tie your legs, Paige. You just won’t hold still.”

“Demetrius, please. I can’t help it.”

“I told you begging wouldn’t help.” When he turned to face her again he held a bottle of oil in his hands. “But I love to hear you do it.”

Paige giggled and squirmed against the restraints. Her pussy was soaked and her clit throbbed. She hoped he planned to use that oil below her waist, because she was out of her mind with the need to come.

Instead of opening the bottle, he placed it on the nightstand. With a sly grin on his face, he lifted her hips and pulled off her panties, slipping them over her shoes. He took the ends of the rope into his hands and fanned them out so one long piece lay next to each side of her body. Paige moaned as he tied the end of each piece around one ankle.

He loosened the rope on the wrist cuffs and spread her arms wider, and then he spread her legs wide and tightened up the slack so she was bound in an “X” and couldn’t move either her arms or legs.

“Demetrius…please.” She could barely breathe, let alone speak. Paige couldn’t remember being this aroused, and she’d never been tied up like this. She loved it. The feeling of being totally powerless and forced to submit to him made her entire body throb with need.

He picked up the bottle of oil and poured some into his hands. She watched him, unsure where he was going with it, but knowing she’d love it regardless. He cupped her breasts and gazed into her eyes as he slathered them in oil. The scent of vanilla filled the room and, combined with his scent, conjured up images of Thanksgiving dinner. Paige giggled at the realization she was about to become dessert.
