“I get it,” H.D. all but snapped. “Gorgeous.”

That was interesting. Was that jealousy?

“He invited me to dinner, which was nice. The whole time, we were talking business, but there was this underlying… crackling going on. It was the hottest thing that ever happened to me….”

H.D. raised an eyebrow.

“Well, until you of course.”

H.D. nodded. “Of course.”

Bean shook his head, looked away because otherwise he couldn’t get his train of thought going again. Not with that expression on H.D.’s face. Bean cleared his throat. “Our knees started doing the little, you know, knee game. Under the dinner table. Touching and pulling away, touching and lingering, touching and not moving, touching and pressing. I was getting a hard-on right there in the restaurant. Our eyes would lock, and I felt like he was looking right inside my head. He had Latin-man-sexy down to an art. We both knew we were going to have sex.”

H.D. giggled and waggled his eyebrows.

“He invited me back to his room for a nightcap—”

“Oh my God! That line?”

“We went to his hotel room, and he practically raped me. Grabbed me and started kissing me and tearing my clothes off, pushed me to the bed, and boy did he….”

Bean blushed. How much did H.D. want to hear?

“He fucked you?”

Bean took a breath. “Yeah.”

“Was he good?”

Do I tell him?
He seems to want to know. But he also seems to not want to
.

“He was good. I can see it on your face,” H.D. said, his own face unreadable once more.

“Not as good as you,” Bean said.

H.D. punched him lightly on the chest. “Yeah, right.”

“No!” Bean reached up and cupped H.D.’s cheek. “Hill. He wasn’t.”

H.D. smiled weakly.

He doesn’t want to hear this.
“Look, maybe we should get dressed. We’re going to be late for work again. And you have those new dogs—”

“Don’t you move until I’ve heard it. You move and I’ll take you down. You know I can, too.”

Bean’s eyes went wide. He did know. “Okay,” he said. Swallowed. Tried to smile.
Whoa!

“The next day we went to his family’s home. The whole drive we are playing the knee game again, and he kept touching me. I was worried to death that I’d meet his family with a hard-on. But when we got there, his father was gone. Wouldn’t be back for a couple days. So Estuardo took me to the guest room and we had sex again.”

“Horny little devil, wasn’t he?”

Bean searched his face, trying to decide if H.D. was really okay with this. Maybe not talking about sex for a minute? “Well when we were done, we got dressed and he showed me around. The fields were beautiful. The house was very nice. Not a mansion. Not as big as the house I grew up in. About the size of this one. But quite nice by Guatemalan standards. It’s a very poor country, you know. Eighty percent of the wealth is controlled by five percent of the people. The Cariño family wasn’t
rich
, but they were well-off. They had servants. He introduced me to his mother and someone who I assumed was his sister. At dinnertime, I realized she was his wife.”

“Uh-oh,” H.D. remarked.

“I was shocked. He never for one second mentioned a wife. You would have thought he would have warned me. What if I had said something for God’s sake?” Bean shrugged. “To my surprise, that night he was in my bedroom again. I thought the first few times were crazy. He was practically forcing himself on me and telling me to be quiet, and it’s hard to have sex that rough and be quiet.” He closed his eyes and couldn’t help but remember the man, on top of him, holding his arms above his head, fucking him hard and damn—so good.

“Over the next few days it was kind of like you and…. Well, kind of like how you and Billy did it anywhere, you know? We couldn’t be quite that daring, but he found places for us to do it. I was intoxicated. I’d never met a man like him. So cool and collected and macho in front of people and then just wild when we could get alone. I was a little frustrated. He had an ass to die for, and when I asked him if he wanted to be fucked, he kept telling me no.

“Finally I figured it out, though. His mother and wife had gone to pick up his father—they wanted to go shopping in the city—and Estuardo and I were in bed the second they were gone. I couldn’t stop kissing him, H.D. I….” He closed his eyes again. The feelings were right there, that fast. They had been so overpowering. “It was ridiculous. I was like head over heels with this man I hardly knew. Stupid! Like I was fifteen or something and had a crush on the star of the football team….”

“Did you have a crush on the star of your football team?”

Bean blushed and H.D. chuckled. “Pretty common, Dean. I’m sure gay boys have had crushes on the football heroes since football began.”

Anyway
,” Bean said, getting right back on subject. “We had sex, and I went to the bathroom to wash up a little, and when I went back, he was lying there…
looking
at me. That look! He was on his belly, and he had the sheets pulled down just enough to show off his ass. He was in this position so that it was sort of pushed up, and God, it was all I could do not to jump him like he did me. I was
just
about to ask him once again if he wanted me to fuck him when it hit me. He did. He
did
want me to fuck him. But he couldn’t ask. He couldn’t even agree to it. When I got back home to the states and did some reading, I found out that the cliché is true about Guatemalan men. It’s an aggressively homophobic country. The prejudice is terrible. Gay people are murdered. So the way it goes is, if you’re a top, you can say it’s not gay. Most men won’t even kiss, because that’s gay. But what is really crazy is that if you’re in bed and your ass is showing and you get screwed, and you just lie there, then you’re not doing anything gay either….”

“You are shitting me,” H.D. said.

“’fraid not.”

“Did… did you fuck him?”

Bean blushed. “Of course I did. I went to him, sat on the bed, and at first all I did was touch his butt. When he didn’t stop me, I began to stroke it. He still didn’t do anything, so I ran my fingers down his crack….” He stopped. Couldn’t quite go into any more detail. How he’d played with Estuardo’s hole, ever so lightly at first, then more aggressively. Estuardo had started moaning, and so Bean had rimmed him. Gone nearly crazy because he had such an alluring ass and his skin was so café au lait lovely, and when Bean had spread Estuardo’s cheeks, his asshole was exquisite. Darker than the surrounding skin, but as Bean’s tongue opened Estuardo up, as pink inside as any he’d ever seen.

Then Bean climbed on top, using the rubber that Estuardo had on hand. Estuardo had wanted to be fucked all right. Bean was very careful; he had no idea if Estuardo had ever even been fucked before. But then he’d begun to sense his lover’s impatience. Estuardo wanted this. And so Bean took a cue and began to fuck Estuardo the way he had fucked Bean.

“He tried not to make any noise,” Bean said quietly. and “But after a while he was grunting and whimpering … at the end he was begging me.” He looked up into H.D.’s face, his heart racing. The memory had very suddenly made him feel frantic, and he found he didn’t want to go on.

To his surprise, H.D. bent down and kissed him ever so lightly on the lips, then raised his head again and looked down with those blue-topaz eyes and everything was okay again.

“At breakfast the next morning, I found out that Estuardo was gone. He’d been sent somewhere on a mission for his father, and I was told that a ride had been arranged for me. Apparently, it was time for me to go. It was so bizarre. I’d had no plans to leave for a couple of days anyway.

“So this big guy—and I mean huge, like a linebacker or something—shows up the minute we are done eating and leads me out. My bags are already in the car. I was starting to feel funny. Bad funny, you know? I kept wondering about Estuardo, why he’d left without saying anything to me.

“The whole drive this big guy hardly says a word to me. A grunt here and there. That’s it. Then I get another surprise. He takes me to the airport. Hands me a ticket and tells me that I don’t really ever need to return to Guatemala. That I won’t be doing any business with the Cariño family. That they weren’t going to do business with a
fajina
. Faggot. My heart just froze. Then he pushed me. He did it in just a way that nobody saw but sent me stumbling backward, and I fell right over my suitcases. I bit my tongue.

“Then he crossed his arms. Didn’t make a move to help me up, but God the look on his face! I have to tell you, I was scared. So I got up, grabbed my bags, and went into the airport. I’ve never been to Guatemala since.”

“Shit,” H.D. said.

“I tried to write Estuardo, but I didn’t hear back. I never found out what happened to him. I can only guess that his family found out. Maybe they found us. We did fall asleep after I… you know… fucked him.” Before Bean knew it, there were tears in his eyes. The memory was too much. But when he looked up and saw H.D. gazing into his eyes… it was okay. One tear slipped down the side of his face, but that was it.

“And you’ve never heard anything? Nothing at all?”

“Nope.”

H.D. snuggled up even closer to Bean, gave him another kiss. “I’m so sorry.”

“I haven’t really gotten close to anyone since then. Not sexually. I’ve made friends. Good friends. But I haven’t been able to bring myself to allow the walls down. To get close.”

Bean gave a long sigh, continued, “I practically raised myself, you know. I had these well-to-do parents who were so cool—at least I see that now. They took me being gay like I had told them I liked the color purple.
‘That’s okay, darling. We’ve known for years.’

Bean didn’t know how his mother would like his impersonation of her, but H.D. did. He was laughing.

“She sets me up on dates. She’d have you to dinner this weekend.” He saw the look on H.D.’s face—was it panic?—and assured him no such dinner was going to happen.

H.D. sat up. “I’m not ready for anything like that.”

“Believe me, neither am I,” Bean said.

H.D. nodded. “We should get up.”

I shouldn’t have said that part about dinner. Shit!

But then H.D. slipped down against Bean again. “We should get up. But dammit, I don’t want to.” H.D. squanched up even closer. “I want to fool around some more. I should feel like a shit about this, but all that talking about fucking has gotten me horny again. Don’t hate me. I did tell you I was a slut. Are you going to be okay with that?”

Going to be okay?
Like in the future? Was Hill intimating a possible future for them?

“Would you consider being a slut for me?” Bean whispered.

H.D.’s brows shot up.

Did I mess up? Please have me not have messed up. God, H.D., I like you so much
.

Then H.D. smiled. “I’ll consider it. But you better have a lot of stamina if you want to keep me satisfied.”

Bean grinned back. He rolled on top of H.D. “I’ll consider that a challenge!”

That’s when the phone rang.

“Dammit,” Bean muttered.

“Leave it!” H.D. said.

“It might be the store. I’m probably late again. In fact, I must be.” He reached for the cell on the bedside table. “Hello,” he said.

“Excuse me” came the voice from the other end. “But is H.D. with you?”

“Who is this?” he asked. It was a woman’s voice. How did she get this number? He looked at the screen on his phone, read FFF just as he heard her say, “This is Elaine Arehart. From—”

“Of course, Elaine. I don’t think I’m ever going to forget you after last night.” He held the phone over to H.D. “It’s for you.”

H.D. rolled his eyes, sat up, and folded his legs Indian style. “Yes, oh fearless leader?”

There was a pause.

“Yes. Yes… And… Oh! Well, what an idea!” H.D. placed the phone against his shoulder. “Elaine wants to know if you want to meet Sarah Jane. My bike is at FFF and she offered to pick me up, and she has the teeny-tiny little woman with her. What do you say?”

Bean sat up, surprised. “The dog you were talking about?”

H.D. nodded excitedly. “Yes. She is perfect. You aren’t going to believe it.”

“Well, I wasn’t expecting this. But why not? I supposed we should get dressed then?”

H.D. had the phone back at his ear. “Yes, we’re naked. Bean is a nudist.”

“I am not!” Bean chuckled.

“We hung out all morning in the buff out on your deck. You might as well be!” H.D. was grinning from ear to ear. He jumped to his feet and started to bounce on the bed.

Bean started laughing with gusto. The way H.D.’s penis was flopping around was hilarious.

“You better hurry if you want to see Bean’s big old dick!” H.D. cried into the phone.

“Hill! Stop it!” He got up and tackled H.D. back down onto the bed.

“Elaine! Help! He’s going to force me to have sex again. I can’t take it. I can’t take anymore, I tell you.”

They didn’t, though. After a couple of kisses, they ran for the shower and got dressed as fast as they could.

“What a crime. What an offense to the gods,” H.D. was saying as Bean pulled on his underwear.

“What?” Bean asked.

“Hiding that beautiful dick. I want to look at it always.”

Bean grabbed H.D. and pulled him close. Kissed him. “Always?”

H.D.’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Then, just when Bean thought he wasn’t going to answer, he whispered back. “It’s certainly something to think about.”

Instinct told him that was just the place to leave the conversation.

It was also when the doorbell rang….

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

H.D.
BEAT
Dean to the door. He stopped and turned his back to it and held up a hand. “Why don’t you sit down on the couch? Let me bring her in. She can be shy around men. Not me, of course….”

“Of course,” Dean said, and went back into the living room.

H.D. opened the door and Elaine was standing there—looking terrific. Instead of a baggy T-shirt like she usually wore, she was wearing something he would wear if he were a woman. Hell, he might wear it anyway. It was all kinds of blues and greens with big open Stevie Nicks sleeves and had something or other that tied at her chest and made her boobs look positively
huge
. Of course, they were pretty big already, but still!
