"I had plans for you!"  Again there was a long drawn out silence.  "Even so, I do not see how I can do otherwise than say yes.  You have already spent time in the Tower and I must confess that I have little liking to have you escape again.  'T is an embarrassment."

"Yes, your Majesty."  Nicholas coul
d barely contain his joy.  The queen had consented to their marriage.  "Sweet love, did you hear that?"  he whispered in Alandra's ear.

Fearing that the q
ueen might change her mind as she was wont to do on occasion, he hurriedly and politely  took his leave, dragging Alandra behind him.  Only when they were beyond Whitehall's door did he dare let out a thunderous shout.

"What a
wedding it will be.  As splendid as any of my plays,"  Shakespeare said, kissing Alandra fondly on the cheek.

The other actors greeted the idea of the marriage with equal enthusiasm.  "We'll give an encore performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  'T
is a perfect play for a wedding,"  Kempe stated.

"Seeing as how it was written to celebrate
just such an occasion," Armin confided.

Murray
took Bessie by the hand, thinking to himself that there might be two weddings in the near future. Looking into Bessie's twinkling eyes he smiled, knowing she’d make a lovely wife. Then he turned to Shakespeare. "All's well that end's well, eh Will?"  Murray cocked his head and winked in Alandra's direction, only to see that she was oblivious of all  their chatter, kissing Nicholas with all the tenderness of her heart.

Shakespeare nodded, and without a backward  glance, the players departed, leaving
the two lovers locked in each other’s arms.
