Chapter 7

“This is not the meal room.” Rose had followed JadEN down the corridors to the sleeping quarters. He opened the door to his rooms and motioned for her to enter. Rose paused, not sure if she should be alone with him. “I don’t think so.”

Instead of arguing with her, JadEN bent down, picked her up into his arms and carried her inside. He didn’t let her down until he had his door shut and secured; then he carried her to the middle of the small room and slowly let her slide down his body.

Rose felt goose bumps rise over her arms at the feel of their bodies sliding against one another. That was fucking hot. Her breath caught. “Jaden, why did you bring me here?”

“You put yourself in a dangerous situation today. I didn’t like that.”

“It’s none of your business. Besides, I was in no real danger. The prisoner was locked up.”

JadEN’s comm link went off. He sighed, reluctantly rolling off the side of the bed, still naked, and looking for the discarded comm on the floor. He picked it up and answered, “Medic JadEN here.”

“Sir, you have a secure call from Katiera. It’s Dr. Morris.”

“Put her through on my tablet link.” A few seconds later Kat’s image came on his digital tablet. “Kat, is there something wrong?”

Rose woke up at the sound of JadEN’s voice, missing his arms wrapped around her. He was talking to someone. She lifted up on her elbow on her side and watched him. The person answering back on the digital tablet was Dr. Kat Morris, who was on Katiera. An unwanted pang of jealousy shot through her.

JadEN and Kat had reportedly had a very hot and steamy romance on board the transport when she first traveled to Katiera, but then Kat broke things off and ended up mated to Prime Medic SydEL. “What did you need, Kat?”

“I wanted to see how things were going, and to give you the good news.”

“Things are fine, we should arrive on Kiljor in a few hours or so. What’s the news?”

“The last fertility treatment we gave to Prima AriELa was successful. She is a few weeks along but everything looks very healthy and normal.”

“That’s fantastic! Make sure to send me her bio stats so I can help monitor her progress.” He looked behind him to let Rose know he would be done in a moment, but found the room empty. He frowned.
