“I just wanted to forget all my pain.” She let him hold her for a few minutes, indulging in tears for the woman she left behind that incredible night.

“But then fate stepped in and sent you to rescue me.” She wiped away the tears and lifted herself to smile at him. “You see, you saved me that night. You and Nicky forced me to put aside my own self-pity and face the fact that life goes on. You made me realize I wanted to live life, pain and pleasure, happiness and sorrow, all of it. But not alone. I want to face it all right beside you.”

She wiggled onto his body and stretched out, staring into his eyes. “I love you, Jake Carlisle with all of my heart.”

“I love you, Samantha Carlisle. You made me realize how much I needed others, and that it wasn’t a weakness to depend on those you love.” Jake brushed a stray lock of hair off her face. “So you don’t mind that I dragged you out of a dark parking lot and forced you to help me?”

“I forgive you for that.” Samantha pushed herself up, kissing him deeply.

“You forgive me for tying you up and gagging you?”

She entwined her hands in his, lifting them to kiss each one. “Oh I forgave you that the moment I saw Nicky.” She straddled his hips with her thighs, luxuriating in the feel of the soft hairs of his abdomen against her own smooth stomach.

“Mmm.” He pulled her arms up with his, so both their hands were above his head, her body stretched taut over the length of his. “Do you forgive me for tying you up that first night and scaring you with that knife?”

“Oh, yes. I hadn’t awakened with such an erotic dream like that in years.” She wiggled a little higher, loosening one of her hands away from his, then grinned at him. “There’s only one thing I really need to get even with you for.”

Jake lifted one eyebrow in question. “What’s that?”

She watched his eyes widen as he felt the heavy metal encircle his wrist and heard the heavy click of the metal.

“I did want to discuss the handcuffs.”

Laughter burst from him. He tried to wrap his other arm around her, but she fought to secure it with the other metal restraint.

“This is my fantasy, Jake Carlisle. You’ve just been kidnapped.” She lowered her lips to his and slid her tongue slowly into his parted lips, tasting the fullness of his love. “And you are going to stay my prisoner…” she started kissing her way down his chest, “until I’ve had my fill of you.”

As she slid her lips and tongue down his abdomen, Jake prayed she wouldn’t finish with him for decades.

“Set in the Montana Territory, 1882, The Surrender of Lacy Morgan is a story of outlaws on the run, brothers seeking justice and an untraditional love story that had me saying "Ahhhh... " more than once. Ms. Ferrell has a very talented voice for writing gritty and vivid historical settings."
