“Adam don’t tell me you finally picked a girl who is into sport? That is an improvement on the last
one. Natalie’s idea of sport was crossing and uncrossing her legs” I stifled a giggle; Dimitri winked at
me it was like a tick of approval so I grinned back “So a city fan are you?” I nodded mischievously
teasing him further;

“That’s because it is the only real Mancunian team of course” He laughed taking the familiar rivalry
as it was meant “who was your football idol growing up then Dimitri” he answered without
hesitation
“Eric Cantona the man was gifted misunderstood but a proper legend” I didn’t disagree one bit I
admired him myself, jealous that for a few seasons he played for the opposition. We then discussed
others in the running I soon noticed we were the only ones talking; it was like we had stepped into
our own little booth. I liked Dimitri and by desert we were like old friends.

Feeling a little tipsy Alexandra and I left the restaurant linking arms giggling, I could see Victor was
highly surprised with his wife’s lack of decorum. Dimitri on the other hand was trying to fix up our
next night out, even making a suggestion of a weekend on their yacht. Of course this was the drink
talking but we parted ways very amicably.

The journey home was filled with anticipation, remembering Adams promise to unwrap me I was
practically limp with need by the time we opened the front door. He had a firm hand on my thigh
stroking rhythmically all the way back. We pushed open the door anxious to touch each other;
however the mood was forgotten as we caught sight of a very distressed Lucy. She had obviously
waited up for us; throwing herself on Adam she was inconsolable.

“Hey sis what is it? Is Rob okay?” she was trying to form words in between gasping for breath and
sniffling

“I phoned dad to tell him about going to Spain” sniff “ I thought he would be pleased for me” sniff
“but he was angry with me because” sniff fresh sobs she struggled to say the next part so Adam took
over

“Lucy I know why you, don’t have to say it. Saturday is the anniversary of our mum’s death” She
stopped sniffing and glared at him

“You remembered? How could you not tell me? You know I was younger than you I don’t have the
date tattooed on my body like you do. You should have told me now dad thinks I am a heartless
bitch” He ruffled his hair looking helpless

“I wanted you to go with Rob and take your mind off it this time, sorry Lucy we will work something
out I promise”

I had studied Adam’s tattoos and hadn’t of course noticed the significance of the date. I felt guilty
too as I normally spend the day with Lucy every year. We have it highlighted on the calendar but
since moving here I don’t think we have unpacked it yet. I looked at the siblings and decided I was
exhausted and they had stuff to sort so I left them to it. I needed to make sure Adam was okay
Saturday then, he was bound to be affected, 12 years was a long time but I knew how long those
pains could last and how deep they could go.

Chapter 15

I was staring out of the window thinking about Lucy when I heard Adam walk up behind me. His
hands snaked round my waist and he pressed his arousal into my back, I was immediately sizzling
with heat. I needed to talk to him first though so I placed my hands on his to stop them moving.

“Talk to me Adam, why didn’t you tell me about Saturday, Lucy I understand you wanted to get her
away fast. But me I thought we had shared so much there would be nothing you couldn’t tell me.”
He removed his hands and tuned me around clasping my face

“You have a world of pain of your own to handle Leah; I didn’t want to load mine on too. I know you
feel hurt but I had the right motives, Lucy and I have talked. She has decided to delay her flight until
Sunday, Rob has agreed we are going to travel to London and spend Saturday together all of us with
my father that is if you are willing” Tears sprang to my eyes

“Adam that’s a wonderful idea; I would love to see Ray again it has been a long time he was so good
to me growing up” He nodded arms wrapping round me once again. I felt his heart rate quicken and
offered him my mouth. Knowing what he needed at that moment was to off load his anxiety by
losing himself in me.

My breathing became ragged whilst his fingers freed my body from the laces. I moaned as the
pressure was taken off my breasts, forcing them to feel heavy and full. Adams hands came around to
cup them making me drop me head back onto his chest, pushing them higher into his wonderful
hands. The dress slid down to the floor, Adam pushed me gently forwards so my palms pressed
against the glass of the window.

I was vaguely aware of him removing his own clothes then he used his knee to nudge my legs wider
apart. His hands ran down my thighs and up to my crotch, my panties were wet through and I heard
him suck in a breath when his fingers slid inside the lace. I was trembling with need desperate for
him to be inside me. Adam slid to his knees and suddenly his tongue was there replacing his fingers. I
cried out as his tongue stabbed inside then stroked over my clitoris making me frantic for my
orgasm.

“Jesus Adam that feels so good please make me come now please” his tongue withdrew making me
shudder Adam stood up and before I could do anything he was plunging inside me as far as he could
go. The pace was mind blowing he was filling me so deep, my lips were clenching around him as my
orgasm started to build. The sensation was so powerful I shouted his name in oblivion

“Shit Leah baby you are squeezing me so tight” he growled hard as he spurted into me pulse after
pulse leaving us both breathless. Once we had recovered I was gathered into his arms and taken to
bed. Wrapped in his embrace we snuggled under the covers. This time our union had felt different
more intimate somehow. Adam seemed to really let go no barriers between us at all we were
stripped bare totally exposed, and I loved it.

Well victor had done me proud; Gordon was ready for me when I got to my desk the next morning;
“Well Leah Mr Bosic has called the editor this morning. He has insisted you do a follow up story even
though the case has been dropped. A positive spin concentrating on his family, apparently his wife
adores you and for the first time is happy to do an intimate interview. Leah this is a real coup the
woman has barely sniffed at the press so you should feel honoured. The editor is keen to see what
you produce and is asking questions about you, this means girl the man at the top is watching so do
this well and it could mean a new department for you, what do you think?”

I was gobsmacked for want of a better term. He had played a blinder for me; this could indeed get
me into perhaps the human interest department which has been my ambition from day one;

“I don’t know what to say Mr Steel it’s wonderful, I will do my best and hope to make him a happy
editor!” Gordon smiled leaving me to get back to the files which had been dumped back on my desk.

I texted Adam with my news, he was thrilled I was so happy. He had been so busy on the Bosic case
that he was now bored. There was nothing of high enough importance to warrant his valuable time,
he was doing mundane accounts to bring some order to the Manchester office now he would be
here permanently. I got back to my files I only had today and tomorrow to make a start, when I
received another text this one was from Dimitri. He wondered if I fancied lunch with him after
training, of course I jumped at the chance to quiz him without Victor’s beady eye watching my every
move. So we arranged to meet in town.

I was early so entered Piccolino’s to find us a nice quiet table, once the waiter found out who I would
be meeting he found us a very secluded table at the back. Amazing what the Bosic name can do for
you, I wondered fleetingly how different my life would have been with a good name behind me.
Actually considering my achievements I could hardly complain. In fact I had done well on my own
without any help so maybe my life was worth more that way.

Dimitri was directed to me and we did a high five as a form of greeting, weird but felt right. We
ordered food immediately; I ordered a mushroom risotto, one of my favourites but only if cooked
correctly. So far restaurants where I had ordered risotto, it was either overcooked and sloppy or
undercooked and chewy. Surely as this was an Italian restaurant with a top chef in charge it would
for once be perfect. My phone rang whilst we were waiting for our meals, normally I would ignore it
but the caller was Chris. This must be about work,

“Sorry Dimitri this is important” I walked to the outdoor area to answer “Hey Chris how’s things?”

“Hi Leah, can’t speak for long I am about to get on a plane for LA, you will never guess what I am
going to be doing there?” I was intrigued “only been hired as a backing dancer for One Direction!”

“Oh My God you are joking?” but he wasn’t, he had been busy auditioning since we had no shows to
do. He only got the call at four am today so all last minute but he would be gone for at least six
months and be travelling all over the world. I was thrilled for him and wished him well. After I ended
the call I was relieved, this meant I could take a step back from dancing. I had been thinking of doing
so ever since the last show, I wasn’t a teenager now, I didn’t need the extra cash and I was so busy
with the paper and Adam, that dancing was now hard to squeeze in. A little sad but it was decision
that felt right, I could still dance whenever I felt like it but purely for pleasure now.
I went back to the table in time for the arrival of my food; the risotto was perfect I loved every
mouthful. Dimitri and I talked football; television favourites, his school and he told me all about his
mother. Boy he loved her; she was the light of his life he also told me that she was controlled by his
shit of a dad. My eyes must have widened because he paused

“Did you think I would never have a bad word to say about my old man? He is an arse you see the
charming man, I see the snake” I almost choked on a mushroom that was harsh wasn’t it snake? I
held back from speaking, hoping he would elaborate.

“Sorry if I have embarrassed you, he has always been a perfect father to me, don’t get me wrong.
But when I left boarding school and lived with them both I saw how he treated mum, it changed my
whole perception of him. He never lets her speak unless given permission; he didn’t allow her to
have a mobile phone. In fact I got her one just so she could call me; she keeps it on silent and hides it
in her bra. I saw him belittle her, crush her spirit and destroy her self-esteem” I was totally horrified,
Alexandra was such a lovely woman how could he drag her from her family in Russia then alienate
her like that. She was lucky to have a son who was so observant and caring

“Does your father know how you feel?” Dimitri laughed

“You have to understand the world he lives in and the one he came from. Men like him all behave
that way, a wife is an accessory they don’t love they own. Victor wanted my mum because of her
connections and status, it looked good to have her at his side that is it” I nodded from what I had
read about him this made sense, he wouldn’t feel like he was doing anything wrong if that was how
he was raised. It made it difficult for me to judge him after all we are all products of our upbringing.

“My mother really likes you, so does Victor I could tell he wouldn’t mind you two spending time
together, I asked you here to see whether you would try and befriend her? You seemed to click and I
have never seen her look so happy. Victor may not object with the cover of your story, he can’t deny
access to her when he wants to be painted as the perfect family man” I looked up at his sarcasm

“I would be pleased to befriend your mum Dimitri, we can arrange something for next week, I am
going to London tomorrow for two nights. How do I get in touch if she has no mobile?” Dimitri
thought for a moment then suggested he be the go between, if they were open about it Victor could
not object. My lunch break was over so we parted ways Dimitri would meet me here again Monday
with Alexandra too and so the plan was laid.

Chapter 16

Rob and Lucy were all packed and ready when I got back from work the next day. I had packed my
overnight bag that morning so just planned on a quick shower before Adam arrived to pick us up.
Rob was looking much better; I managed a quiet chat with him while Lucy was making last minute
adjustments to her hair. Rob was itching to talk to me I could tell;

“Leah I feel I have let you down running away like this, you know when I get back I will try and work
this whole thing out. Don’t object please I promise not to put anyone at risk I am going to call in a
favour from a friend in Special Forces. They have higher clearance levels so may be able to find out
more on your mums murder, release the post-mortem maybe. I won’t make any promises to you but
don’t lose faith.” I hugged him to me in silent thanks “This is just between us, I know how Adam will
react so let’s not worry him, or Lucy for that matter” I was emotional when I left him and went to
the shower, allowing the water to wash the tears of gratitude away.

Adam was early so we had time for a coffee before we set off; Ray had telephoned to say Margaret
his housekeeper was leaving a stew in the slow cooker for us for dinner. We were flying down there
to Heathrow. Rob and Lucy were booking their bags in for the flight to Spain Sunday morning, then
we would be collected by Rays driver to take us into Knightsbridge.

By the time we were outside the Richmond’s residence we were knackered, Margaret let us in but
Ray was in the hall waiting to greet us all. Warm embraces all round I was moved by the family bond
I had never had. It actually made me well up; Adam spotted it and brought me closer to his side. Ray
spoke to me after an emotional hug with his daughter, apologising for their earlier
misunderstanding.

“So Leah, my son tells me you two are now very close? A funny situation this one, both my children
dating the best friend of their sibling.” I held my breath wondering where this was going “I must say
as I have already gotten to know you both so well I couldn’t be happier with the way it has turned
out strange though it may be. Welcome back Leah you have become a lovely young woman I see, no
wonder Adam finally noticed you, I must say I always hoped it would happen one day”
