• Who are the people in the text (and what’s the significance of leaving behind four of the people you began with in Ruth 1)?
• What’s happening in this text? If this were the plot of a movie of the week, what might you expect to happen next?
• Where is the action taking place? Is the location important in any way?
• When was this story taking place? What would have been significant about, say, the role of women during this time in history?
• Why did Ruth volunteer to help Naomi? Why did Boaz volunteer to help Ruth? Why did Naomi encourage Ruth? Why do we seem to get so much insight into the characters of these people?
