Lily snorted.
 
"I don't understand why we didn't see the
second baby on the ultrasound
. "

The nurse
standing near her shrugged.
 
"Sometimes the second baby can hide
behind the other one.
 
It happens more
often than you'd think. "

Lily pinched
the bridge of her nose.
 
"That's
insane! It's the twenty-first century.
 
I
had three ultrasounds.
 
Three!"

"It's
okay," Matt said, sounding both worried and elated.

Lily laughed
again.
 
She loved him so much.
 
She watched him try to lean over and kiss her
while holding onto a newborn.
 
He
couldn't quite manage it.

"Here,
give him to me," she said, making room in the crook of her free arm.

Matt gently
gave her the baby, then leaned down and kissed her.

Lily smiled up
at him.
 
"I think we should name
this one Alex
. "

Matt looked at
her in horror.

She grinned.
 
"We can call them Junior One and Junior
Two
. "

Matt choked.
 
"You've completely lost your mind
. "

"It'll be
hilarious!"

He shook his
head.
 
"You're serious?"

She nodded.
 
"I am.
 
Didn't you tell me that Alex couldn't have
kids?"

Matt nodded
slowly.
 
"Yeah
. "

"I think
we should do this
. "
She kissed both babies on
their cute little foreheads.
 
"Matt
and Alex, the next generation
. "

Matt smiled at
her.
 
"I love you
.
"

"I love
you, too," she said, meaning it more deeply than words could express.
 
That was okay.
 
He already knew how she felt.
 
She'd told him a thousand times since the day
he'd saved her life.
 
He'd told her a
thousand times more.
 
Together, they
could do anything.
