“You felt?” Katlyn prompted taking a sip and smiled at the blush that covered his face. He was embarrassed about what something.

“Pleasure.” He voice dropped an octave as he remembered the feelings that had coursed through his body.

“Pleasure?” She frowned slightly wondering what had been the cause. Uh oh, she thought catching his meaning before he could explain.

“You felt what I felt.”
She whispered softly feeling heat cover her face; she was completely embarrassed now too. He knew what had been going through her head when he had barged into the room up stairs.

“You don’t understand. That has never happened before, I had to see. I didn’t think about what you were doing at the time. I apologize.” Micah watched the blush rise over her skin once again this morning. He had embarrassed her.

“It’s never happened that way before for you?” Katlyn questioned softly; so he was not used to receiving feelings from others, just having others respond to him.

“No. Where I am from it is the men that can emit emotions not the women. I am not sure I like the powerlessness that the feeling gave me.” Micah frowned. The urge to go to her had been so strong he had not hesitated to think of his actions. The only thing that had mattered was going to her, was sharing in the feelings coursing through her.

This was a problem; women did not have the ability
to control men in this fashion. Not at this level, not at all; it was a liability, a weakness.

Katlyn laughed, “No, I don’t suppose you did like it.”

He crossed his arms over his chest scowling at her amusement, “You find it funny?”

She smiled impishly at him trying to contain another chuckle, “I do. You are happy to make the woman feel helpless to those feelings but you don’t like it yourself. It’s a little hypocritical, don’t you think?”

Micah frowned at her; “I guess it is, but not having control of myself, that is a problem.” He sat in the chair next to mine and turned the T.V. back up avoiding anymore conversation.
Laughing Katlyn moved away from him, just like a man, avoid the conversation when it isn’t going the way they want it to. While he watched the T.V. she began cleaning up the cabin, there was a ton of dirt and dust from the years of nonuse.

By the time she finished it was early evening. Realizing she had not heard any movement in awhile she headed back to the kitchen; Micah had been quiet for hours.

“Micah, are you okay?” she finally found him sitting outside on the porch looking into the forest. It seemed he was a million miles away deep in thought.

Micah glanced over at her as she came out of the house. He had been racking his brain to find a way to explain what he was doing here. She had already figured out that he was not from here, she had seen the ship he traveled in; in everyway possible she had earned his trust, but finding a way to explain to her why he was here was harder than he had thought it was going to be.

When he
had began this mission he had known that there was a chance that the female he found would not be accepting; he had planned for that possibility. If the first woman he found could not consent, he would find another. Now, it was not so easy; he did not want another. Katlyn was the one that called to him; it was her that he needed.

“I’m fine.” He turned toward her and smiled slowly trying to ease her look of doubt.

“How about we throw some steaks on the grill then sack out and watch a movie? I can torture you with chick flicks.” Katlyn smiled at him, he had been deep in thought about something. The worried look that had covered his face before she had opened the door concerned her; somehow she was the cause of that look. He needed a distraction and this would be a way to relax for a bit.

“I don’t know what type of movie a ‘chick flick’ is but okay.” Micah looked her over and wrinkled his nose, “You need a shower, you’re dirty.” She looked like she had rolled in pile of dust and dirt.

“Gee, thanks.” Katlyn chuckled, “I had to clean the dust out of the cabin. We are the first to be here in years. Unfortunately, I don’t get up here as often as I’d like to. I guess I need another shower before dinner.” Immediately she felt the blood rush to her face remembering what happened this morning.

“So that is what you were doing.” Micah opened the door and looked into the now clean cabin, “You’re right it is much better now. Explain to me this grilling out and I will get started while you clean up.”

“You’re sure?” Katlyn looked at him doubtfully. Leaving him to do dinner was a mistake waiting to happen, there were a lot of things that could go wrong with an alien and a gas grill. She couldn’t contain the giggle that erupted at the thought. That was a joke waiting to happen.

Micah raised an eyebrow at her outburst. “I can cook. The utensils are just a little different. Trust me just a little, witch.”

“Witch?” Katlyn laughed, “Why witch?”

Micah chuckled, “because you control me with your thoughts.” The blush that covered her face was well worth teasing her. She was so beautiful standing there red faced covered in dirt and grime huffing at him.

“Fine.” Katlyn showed him the grill and lit it for him. “Now all you have to do is add the meat and veggies.” She pulled him into the house and over to the fridge. “You’ll have to season the meat I don’t want to touch it, I’m filthy.” She explained to him how to fix the meat and left him there so that she could clean up and hoped for the best.

Micah tried to concentrate on the food while she was upstairs. He could still feel her, he could still feel the absolute pleasure she was feeling from the shower and her thoughts. He steeled himself against the need he felt to go to her. This loss of control was going to kill him. If she felt the same pull how did she control it? He felt relief after a few minutes and guessed that she had stepped from the shower and would be down soon. If pleasure could be felt by each of them in this strange connection, what other emotions could be passed? He wondered if this connection would also call to him if she was in danger; that would be helpful.

Katlyn emerged from the house five minutes later smelling clean and fresh with a couple of plates. Micah found himself smiling at her as he took the plates and loaded them with dinner. He just couldn’t understand what it was about her that was the most attractive. She was beautiful; both inside and out but it was more than that. It was the calmness she had about her. She didn’t rush things, she didn’t push, she simple waited; trusting that she would get the answers she sought in time. She was so very different than anyone he had ever met.

Together they went inside to eat and watch a movie. It wasn’t long before Micah found himself relaxing on the couch with Katlyn leaning against him sharing a bowl of popcorn. Many of the nuances that she laughed at she had to explain to him but he found he liked watching her enjoyment more than he liked watching the movie. Her face came alive with pleasure when she laughed.

Katlyn stopped the movie as the credits were rolling and grinned up at Micah. “Your first chick flick. How did you like it?”

Micah smiled, “Why do I think the men around here would not like this chick flick?”

“Honestly? I think that most of them
would rather have hot pokers in their eyes than watch one.” Katlyn laughed as he frowned at her.

“And you decided to subject me to it?”
Micah tried not to laugh with her and keep his stern face.

“Well, you haven’t become biased to it as of yet. I was hoping you would
find your feminine side before you thoughts were polluted by the masses.” Katlyn laughed and dodged as he made a playful grab for her.

Micah laughed out loud and chased her up the stairs. “I’ll show you feminine side.”

Clearing the top of the stairs Micah and Katlyn froze when they heard a knock at the front door. At Micah’s concerned expression she forced a slight smile, “Go into the bedroom and shut the door. I'll take care of this.”

Micah reached out to run his thumb across her lip softly. “Be careful Katlyn, the men looking for me are not what they appear.” He slipped into the room and shut the door softly behind him. He did not like this; he should not be hiding in the back room while she faced whoever was at the door.

Taken completely by surprise at his touch; Katlyn rubbed her hand across her still tingling lips. The off handed caress had surprised her. Taking a deep breath she made her way to the bottom of the stairs and to the door. A quick glance out the peep hole told her it was Officer Carver knocking at her door once again.

“Officer Carver, twice in as many nights, how can I help you?” Katlyn leaned against the door jamb and looked up at his hardened face.

“Miss. Brooks. I was making my rounds and wanted to make sure that you were still doing okay out here by yourself.” He was anything but concerned; that much she could tell from looking at him. He was still looking for someone; that much was apparent by the way he was looking into the house over her shoulder.

“That was very nice of you to stop by and check up on me but I'm fine. I was actually just headed up to bed.” Katlyn felt Micah's presence behind her before she heard him; he came up silently and slid his arm around her waist in a completely protective gesture. For once in her life she was very glad to have a man standing protectively over her; Officer Carver was giving her the creeps the way he was looking at her.

Micah had watched the officer from the top of the stairs and barely held down his fury. This man was looking at Katlyn as if she
were a treat he wanted to get hold of. This was not a look he cared for another man to have over her. It might not be his place but he had not been able to stay in the shadows and watch; he had needed to put an end to it.

As Micah's arm came around
her Katlyn saw a cloud of weariness cover Officer Carver's eyes. He had not been expecting this; he didn't like it either by the look on his face.

“Thank you for looking in after Kat but as you can see she is well taken care of.” Katlyn felt Micah’s lips press against the top of her head and she relaxed against his chest. For some reason she felt absolute trust for this man that was so different. There was something about him that called to her soul; something that bespoke of honor, kindness and truthfulness.

“I didn't realize you had someone here to look over you.” Officer Carver looked at the couple in front of him, “You both have a good evening and call if you have any problems.” Officer Carver turned to go down the steps and Katlyn moved to close the door behind him.

Micah stopped her before she shut it completely.
“Kat, you should have woken me to answer the door this late. You know how dangerous that could be.” He wanted to make sure Officer Carver understood that she was his.

Katlyn
looked up into grey eyes that demanded her understanding. It didn't take a genius to see that this comment was solely for Officer Carver's benefit. He had made it to his vehicle in the driveway but sound carried out here on the mountain. Katlyn was sure he could hear every word spoken between them. From the look in Micah’s eye’s he knew it too.

“I’m sorry sweetheart. I didn't want to wake you.” Katlyn placed her hand against his chest covering the tattoo and smiled up into his eyes.

Micah lifted his hand to cup
her jaw and ran his thumb over her soft bottom lip as he had before.  Leaning in he spoke quietly against her lips, “It seems that he is waiting to see an ending of this conversation. Please forgive me.” Micah could not pull his gaze from her lips and if he were honest this was no longer about giving Officer Carver a show, it was about him wanting to taste her, his wanting to see if her lips were as soft as they looked. He wanted to feel her in his arms.

“Forgive you for what?” Katlyn’s eyes went to his lips knowing what he was asking even before she asked the question.

The second his lips covered hers in a searing kiss she realized she was in trouble. Katlyn shuddered as he ran his tongue across her lower lip and she let her hands drift up to the back of his neck to tangle in his hair.

Micah leaned down, wrapped his hands around the back of her thighs and lifted her against him as if she weighed no more than a feather. As he deepened the kiss she felt him turn, shut the door and press her against it. Gently he bit her bottom lip.
