“Do you remember what color the van was?”

“It was a light blue color. It didn’t have any windows in it except the back window, and it was painted over so I couldn’t have seen out.” Brandy stopped and licked her lips.

“Can I have something to drink?”

West hurried over to her and poured her some water, then held the cup up so she could suck from the straw. The head of her bed was elevated enough she thought she could swallow without choking. Her throat felt so dry. She was thirsty.

Once she’d finished, West set the cup back on the bedside table and ran his knuckles over her cheek before backing up again. She looked back at the sheriff for what he would ask next.

“Do you remember anything about the inside of the van? What was in it? Did it look new or old?”

“It had carpet on the floor, but I don’t remember the color, it was dark in the van. It wasn’t dirty really, but it needed vacuuming. I remember that there was a wall between me and the driver. It wasn’t like a minivan where it’s open so you can actually see back in the back. There was a window between the cab and the back. I could see someone through it when I was turned just right. I didn’t know it was Jim until he stopped and pulled me out.”

The sheriff went through the rest with her until she’d told him everything.

“If there is anything more you can remember, you let me know. I’ve got Jim in custody, and he’ll be going to prison for quite a while on this. You don’t have to worry about him bothering you again.” The sheriff started to stand up.

“But what about whoever hired him? Why did they hire him and pay him money to kidnap me? Am I still in danger from them?” She was scared, and not too proud to admit it.

“We’ll get to the bottom of it, Brandy. You have two men here who don’t plan on you being out of their eyesight for a long time. I don’t think you have to worry.”

Brandy smiled at Kyle and West. They were there to watch out for her. She knew they would do their best. She still couldn’t help but be frightened that some unknown person still wanted her for some reason.

“I’ll talk to you later, Brandy. I’m glad you’re going to be all right.”

“Thanks, sheriff. I’m glad to be alive.”

The sheriff left, and her two men lowered the bedrail and got up close to her and kissed her. First West, with his take-charge attitude, carefully took care of her mouth with gentle kisses and soft licks.

Then Kyle kissed her lips before moving around her jaw to her ear. He sucked on her earlobe and whispered in her ear that he loved her. She felt the tears in her eyes before they began to run down her face.

“Hey, baby. Why are you crying?” West asked.

Kyle pulled back with a question in his eyes.

“I’m just tired, I guess. I’m so happy to see you two I don’t know what to do. I was so scared.”

“I know you were, baby. I wish we had been there earlier so it wouldn’t have happened at all.”

“Why did he do it? Who would want me?” she asked.

“Honey, it wasn’t you really that they were after. They wanted to stop us from working on the hotel. Someone wants to keep the hotel from being finished for some reason,” West told her.

“Cole is looking into why, but so far all we know is that if it isn’t finished, the land reverts back to the city. So there is something strange going on.” Kyle brushed away her tears with his fingers.

“I’m sorry he used me against you two. I know you probably needed that job.” She knew she loved them even more now, knowing they’d given up working to see about her.

“We can get work anywhere. We don’t have to have that job. All that matters is that you’re going to be fine,” Kyle assured her.

“What about Cole and the others?”

“They are still working. All they seemed to want was to get a couple of the guys off the project. It would have been enough with the ones who were not pulling their weight. Cole says everyone is working together now. They should make the cutoff time of Wednesday night at midnight.” West smiled at her.

“And you two could go back and help them so they are sure to make it.”

“No. We’re staying here with you. We aren’t leaving you alone for even one minute,” Kyle told her.

“I’m okay now. I’ll be safe enough here. I hate for you to feel like you need to babysit me.” She couldn’t imagine them sitting there all day and night. They’d get bored and sore from sitting in the chairs.

“We aren’t babysitting you. We’re spending time with you. At night, only one of us will sit with you and the other will go to your place and sleep. Then we’ll switch out,” Kyle told her.

“I’m sorry this happened. If I’d just waited on you…”

“Don’t go blame yourself for someone else’s dealings. It was Jim who kidnapped you. You shouldn’t have to worry about going home at night. But rest assured, it will never happen again.” West scowled then softened his gaze on her when she frowned. He leaned in and kissed her gently on the lips again.

“You need to rest some more. You’re looking paler than you were to begin with. Do you need anything?” Kyle asked as he adjusted the covers on her.

“No, but I am tired. I’ll close my eyes for a few minutes. I’ll be okay after that.” She smiled then yawned and winced. It even hurt to yawn.

“Sleep, baby.” Kyle patted her on the shoulder.

Brandy stifled a second yawn and closed her eyes. She drifted for a while, listening to the men talk. They were so angry that she’d been hurt. Who would have wanted to stop the hotel from being built and why? For some reason, that bugged her. Maybe she’d heard something at the diner about it.

She fell into the dream almost as soon as she fell asleep. She was back at the diner serving the church crowd after Sunday night services. They were rowdy and happy, but the mayor and his group weren’t in a good mood. She wondered who’d peed in his cornflakes after he’d waved her away and glared at her when she’d offered them more tea.

“I still say we can get that money by stopping the hotel from being built.
If
they don’t make the deadline, it comes back to the city and we can sell it again to the Brinkley’s for their strip mall,” the mayor told the other two men.

Brandy recognized them as on the board of the City Council. What were they all talking about anyway to look so grim? She moved on and served the rest of her group. When she returned they were ready for their ticket, paid, and left.

She realized it was important and immediately woke up.

“I know what it is. I heard them talking about it at the diner one night, and didn’t realize what they were talking about.” Brandy tried to sit up and groaned when she pulled the stitches in her hands.

“Whoa, Brandy. You’re going to hurt yourself. Let us help you.” Kyle jumped up and used the bed rail button to raise her head up some.

“What do you remember, Brandy?” West moved closer.

“It’s the mayor and two of the council members. They wanted to get the land back and resell it to someone by the name of Brinkley for a strip mall. I think they were going to get paid to deliver it to them.”

“Are you sure? It wasn’t just your dream?” Kyle asked, looking doubtful.

“No! I’m sure. I clearly remember it because they were so rude to me that night and never had been in the past.”

“Okay, we’ll call the sheriff and let him know. He’ll want to talk to you again. Do you know who the other two men were?” Kyle pulled out his phone.

“Oh, yes. I don’t know their names, but I can pick them out easy enough. They were in and out of the diner all the time.”

Kyle put through the call to the sheriff with what Brandy had remembered. It was nearly nine in the morning. He promised to come by on his way home, around four thirty or five. Brandy was antsy, wanting him to get there so she could begin to put it behind her. She wanted it over with. The men weren’t going to wait forever for her, and she needed to concentrate on getting well. She didn’t want to lose the chance of having the happy family life they were promising her.

When he arrived, she’d dozed off and on, but was instantly awake when he knocked on the door and came in.

“Okay, tell me what you remember.” The sheriff sat down and pulled out his notepad and pen.

He listened to her and asked questions until he was satisfied he had everything he needed.

“Between your statement and the mess Jim has confessed, we should be able to tie this up in the next two or three days. I’ll need you to testify for us on both of these cases. You planning to be around?” he asked, looking over at the men.

“She’ll be here long enough to heal, and then she’ll be in Texas with us. We’ll bring her back whenever she needs to testify. I’ll make sure you and everyone who needs it has our numbers,” Kyle said.

“You’ll probably need to testify as well, so that will be fine. I appreciate all your help with this.” He shook their hands then left.

“They brought you a tray of food and left it. I can go warm it up in the microwave if you’ll try a little of it,” West said.

“I don’t know how much I can eat, but I want out of here. I’ll see how much I can to get down.”

West warmed up the food for her, and she managed a little over half before she had to stop. She had to rely on the men to feed her. She couldn’t use her hands to hold the fork or spoon. There was something erotic about being fed by the two men. Maybe it was just her hormones reminding her she wanted them and wouldn’t get them for a few weeks. They wouldn’t touch her as long as she was hurt. She knew that even without them telling her.

Her men were sensitive, loving men who wouldn’t hurt her for the world. There was no way they’d risk sex if it might cause her any pain or discomfort. She had a feeling she’d have to finally initiate the loving in the long run or they might not ever approach her.

She could do that
, she thought with a smile. Coming on to them was fun. She loved seeing that deep, dark expression in their eyes when they got all hot and bothered. Knowing she had such control over them was empowering to her. There was nothing more thrilling than to bring a strong man to his knees in pleasure.

* * * *

Nearly four weeks later, she was packed and ready to leave. The men hadn’t wanted her to drive yet, so they rented a big U-Haul. After packing it with her few possessions, they added their bikes. They would pull her car behind the truck.

They situated her between them with a pillow to put her hands on. She was excited but sad about leaving her home. She’d been there for a long time to her. She had friends there, but they could keep in touch by phone and e-mail. The men assured her they had computers and Internet. She’d never had Internet before. It would be interesting to learn about it.

The guys had laughed at her enthusiasm over the Internet. Of course, they took it for granted because they had it at home. “You ready to head out?” West asked.

“Yep. I can’t wait.” She hugged him, then threw her arms around Kyle and hugged him as well.

Neither man had approached her for sex. They loved on her and snuggled with her in bed once they were sure they wouldn’t accidently hurt her. Still, she wanted more. She needed more. As soon as they arrived at her new home, she would seduce them into having sex with her. She couldn’t wait.

The drive proved to be a long one for her. She was still sore all over from being hit by the truck, so they stopped and let her get out and walk frequently to keep from getting stiff from all the riding.

Several times, she found herself dozing on one of their shoulders. She loved knowing she could do that and they didn’t mind.

It was late evening when they pulled into their drive. She was exhausted, and knew they had to be since they’d switched up driving several times when she’d needed to walk around. What should have taken maybe six or seven hours had taken a good ten because of her.
