Near Perfection

Haley Snider thought Warren Chalmers was the perfect Dom, so she made herself into the perfect sub. A woman in love is truly blind, because Warren can be such an ass.

Warren doesn't really know what he wants, and questions the very perfection he apparently sought. Haley leaves Warren before he can reject her, unveiling a surprising temper and steely determination. Warren is both intrigued and forced to look at himself. He doesn't much care for what he finds, and is determined to change, to seek Haley out and really get to know her.

Realizing that her obsession with Warren has kept her from being true to herself and him, Haley decides to embrace life differently. Upon reconnecting with Haley, Warren discovers that his best friend Gordon Sinclair has a different idea in mind for them all, and that life can be filled with both friendship and love. And hot sex.

Note: There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or among the men.

Chapter One

Warren Chalmers carefully pulled back the covers from Haley’s recumbent form and smoothed his hand down her side, across the silk and heat of her skin. He smiled in lazy satisfaction as she lifted to his caress, even in her sleep. He rolled her onto her back and slipped the same hand between her thighs, devouring her full breasts with his eyes, the umber nipples already tightening in arousal despite her slumber. Her thighs were still sticky from their combined juices from the night before, and he felt a deeper, complacent contentment. He parted her waxed folds, and his finger slipped easily up inside her, just as it had done countless times before. Warren frowned. This was becoming comfortable, this waking Haley and fucking her in the morning before she woke fully. He revelled in her dishabille and the welcoming cushion of her body. But perhaps comfort was boredom? It certainly wasn’t something he wanted to feel, if so. It unsettled him somehow. He leaned away carefully and covered the woman he had signed a D/s contract with just over a year ago. He got out of bed and headed to the bathroom and didn’t look back.

So this was it, Haley Snider thought, her blue eyes now open, and hardly sleepy, her heart breaking. Others had warned her, friends and enemies alike, and she had made a study of it. It wasn’t like she didn’t know about Warren’s inability to commit, to avoid allowing himself to stay with anyone for any longer than several months. Haley had heard about it, and seen it for herself, but like any woman in love, hadn’t let herself believe it. She thought she would be the one to change Warren, probably like the others before her. Well, now she was paying for her audacity. It was a hell of a time to learn the lesson that what one saw was what one usually got. Forever. Warren had been carefully distancing himself from her for weeks now since their first year anniversary. He likely wasn’t even aware of his pattern, but it was quite familiar to her. She had watched him repeat it five times over nearly as many years. She just hadn’t let herself consider that it would happen to her.

They had celebrated their anniversary with him sharing her with another Dom, something Haley never done in her few previous relationships, but she acquiesced that time because it was Warren. Although, if she was totally honest with herself, she had to admit that she had always been attracted to Gordon Sinclair, and the event certainly hadn’t been a hardship for her. She had just felt she wanted Warren more. That night seemed to have been the beginning of the end. She closed her eyes against the memory.

“I want to go to the Club for our first anniversary, sweetheart,” Warren said.

Haley caught her breath. That could mean many different things, and she wouldn’t let herself think of the least pleasant one.

“Whatever you choose, Warren,” she answered.

“I want your input, too, Haley, a full discussion,” was his response. “We are celebrating our relationship after all.”

Haley allowed herself to hope, although she knew Warren really didn’t want a full discussion. That was really where he fell down on being a good Dom, failing to fully communicate, if love didn’t blind her to that fact, not to mention the fact that she compounded it by not being totally open with him.

“The Club it is, Warren, and whatever scene you choose is my gift to you.”

To be truthful, Haley was hoping for a permanent collar to replace the fine, platinum chain he had given her when they had signed the contract. The Club would be a nice setting for such a thing, seeing as it had been where they had met.

Warren smiled. “Gordon will be there, my love. Our threesome will really be a celebration.”

Haley didn’t hesitate, although she noticed that Warren’s smile hadn’t reached his eyes. She had adjusted herself to Warren, molded herself into the perfect sub for him, after watching him with his other women over the years and having decided early on that he was the one for her. He probably believed that
he
had done the molding. But this felt like a test, and one she hadn’t studied for. She had been careful not to let her interest in Gordon show, believing Warren wouldn’t like it. He might have shared sexually before, but she recognized his possessiveness with her. It had given her hope all these months. Hope that he loved her, too.

“It will indeed be a celebration, Warren,” she agreed, not letting on that a threesome with Gordon wasn’t at all unattractive. There were many things she withheld from Warren, but this time it felt uncomfortable, although she was only trying to maintain the status quo. Once in a while, Haley regretted not letting Warren see her in entirety, but she was too afraid that he would back away because she wouldn’t measure up to the ideal sub he thought he wanted. The fact that they had been together a year, longer than any other relationship Warren had allowed, made her believe she was doing the right thing. Perhaps in time Warren would be more open to change. Haley ignored the fact that she, too, was breaking the golden rule of all D/s relationships by failing to communicate.

“I want him in your pussy while I fill your ass, Haley, unless you would prefer it differently.”

Haley hid her wince. Gordon Clarke was hot and a really nice man as well as a competent Dom. He was also Warren’s closest friend, one of the very few. She liked him and respected him, and if she hadn’t fixed on Warren, Gordon was the type of man she may well have connected with. It was just that she hadn’t considered sharing as part of Warren’s agenda with her, and so she had firmly quashed any interest in a threesome. Why was Warren giving her a choice in the matter? She was afraid she was making a mistake and really didn’t want to let Warren down. She didn’t know the correct answer for the first time in this relationship.

“Perhaps I could blow him, Warren,” she tried diffidently.

A look crossed Warren’s face. A look Haley wasn’t really able to interpret, despite her familiarity with all of his moods. It passed so quickly that she wondered if she had even seen it. It almost looked like relief. It was really very strange.

“As you wish, Haley,” Warren said formally.

Haley floundered and then said, “Unless you would rather….”

Warren looked at her again, and his face darkened. Haley knew
that
look. She had displeased him. However, he shrugged and said, “Ultimately you have the power, my dear. But perhaps you can trust me to decide.”

Haley hadn’t known what to think. She just nodded and watched him leave the room with his usual graceful stride, yet his back had been rigid. She had begun to second-guess herself. The last year had been new and exciting, and there had been minimal periods of adjustment, probably because she had studied Warren for so long. He hadn’t needed to take much time to fine-tune her as his sub, to meet his demands, and she had been sure it was what she wanted. Haley pretended that she hadn’t packaged up and sublimated certain parts of her personality in order for her to be the right woman for Warren, like the part that sometimes threatened to rise up and harangue him when he became too pompous and full of himself, or the one that wanted to laugh at his expense and tease him lovingly. She had resigned herself to an anniversary evening of highly charged sexuality with the man she loved and an exciting, nice man he wanted to share her with to assert his ownership and bring her additional pleasure. She accepted that Warren didn’t really, truly know her or what she often wanted because she hadn’t been her true self with him. Once again, her audacity had bitten her on the ass. She had comforted herself with the fact that she had Warren and nothing else mattered. It really didn’t. Not even the fact that she wasn’t sure she always recognized herself anymore, or always liked herself.
