Harper fought for breath as the
sound of blood rushing in her ears drowned out the sound of the
airplane engines flaring to life. “Yes, Sir.” She knew
better than to lie. The fastest way to punishment was down the road
of half-truths. And some small part of her intelligent brain remained
engaged enough to know better than to go there right now.

Good girl. Now scoot your
bottom to the edge of the seat and let your legs fall open nice and
wide.”

She barely got them open before
he shoved two thick fingers inside her weeping sex and he wasted no
time going straight for the tight bundle of nerves guaranteed to
drive her crazy. Those two digits massaged her sensitive walls and
Harper could do nothing but grip the seat arms and moan with each
stroke. She tried to remember why’d she’d been mad at him
and failed. He was melting her brain.

With lust raging through her
mind, she rocked against his hand, seeking even more friction. Who
was she kidding? Never in a million years could she deny him and
sacrifice this pleasure. Why in the hell did she have to fall in love
and complicate everything? Their time together was supposed to be
simple.

To her delight, he twisted his
hand and stroked her clit with his thumb.

Oh, Alex,” she
whimpered. Every muscle clenched and the coming explosion grew
closer. “Please,” she begged. It wasn’t easy to
form words with her body strung tight and her heart thundering in her
ears.

Going on a trip with me is
not so bad after all, now is it?”

No,” she hissed.
“But please…”

I never get tired of
hearing you beg, kitten. It is truly the most delicious sound I’ve
ever heard in my life. Good thing I plan on making you beg a lot this
trip. A whole week of begging. Mmm.”

With that he withdrew his fingers
and pushed them into her mouth instead. Her heart seized at the
shocking loss of his touch seconds before her body exploded, making
her mind numb. She squeezed her eyes closed.

No way, kitten. Eyes on me
while you clean my fingers.”

Harper choked back a sob and
forced herself to meet his gaze. For once, the raging lust she saw in
his eyes gave her no comfort. Her mind tumbled over a million
thoughts while she completed her task. By the time his fingers
slipped from her mouth and he kissed her instead of making her come,
she wanted to scream in frustration.

You’re going to
leave me like this, aren’t you?” She tried to bite back
the sarcasm and failed.

His eyebrow lifted. “Yes,
kitten, I am. I won’t deny you my attention but by God you can
sure as hell wait for an orgasm until after you’ve had some
time to think about this mess.” He started for the seat next to
hers and buckled in. “We’ve got several hours until we
get to our destination. Think about your denial and what it means.
Then we’ll talk.”

When he leaned back in the chair
and closed his eyes she almost started to give him a piece of her
mind until the tent in his slacks drew her gaze. He was as affected
by all this as she and it wasn’t only her who got denied. She
sucked in a deep breath and released it slowly. It always amazed her
how often he’d deny his own orgasm before hers. How many men
had she ever known who got her off and then suffered in silence when
their own needs weren’t met? Not a single one.

Like a tire with a sudden
pinprick hole, her anger began to deflate. Damn him. Couldn’t
she even stay mad for ten minutes? She didn’t even know where
they were going exactly and he was about to take a stupid nap.

Harper tried to relax but found
being naked, wet and restrained to a chair did not help her cool off.
The next few hours were going to be the longest of her life. “You
suck, Alex.”

Poor, baby.” He
didn’t open his eyes or turn his head but the unmistakable
upturn of his mouth made it all worse.

Time passed. No. Time dragged on
and on and on. She tried reclining her chair, sitting up straight,
crossing her legs and uncrossing them and nothing eased the want. The
light snores from the seat next to her definitely didn’t help.
The bastard had no trouble getting comfortable after their ordeal.

She tried looking out the window
but there wasn’t a whole hell of a lot to view in the darkness.
Hell, she didn’t even know what time it was. When she finally
started to fall asleep, her mind wandered to her predicament. Forcing
her on this trip with him also altered how and when she wanted to
tell him the whole truth. She sighed. Loving an alpha male was a
giant pain in the ass sometimes.

Wake up sleepy head.”

With great effort, Harper opened
her eyes and found Alex staring down at her.

It’s a good thing
you have me to take care of you. I think you’d sleep through
just about anything, including a landing, a car ride and at least two
conversations.”

She blinked up at him. “What?”
The fog slowly cleared from her brain. “Did you say you brought
me coffee?” How was she supposed to function under these
circumstances?

His chuckle soothed some of her
sleep-roughened edges. “No coffee yet, kitten. Let’s get
you inside first and then we’ll see about some much needed
caffeine and breakfast.”

She glanced past his shoulder and
saw they sat in a car in front of a very large house. “Where
are we?”

In the Florida Keys just
like you’d planned except this place is a lot more private than
where you’d booked. We have the island all to ourselves. Good
thing too.”

She followed his gaze down and
found she still wore nothing. She shook her head and imagined who
might have seen her naked thus far. “Am I going to get any
clothes on this trip?”

He grinned. “Maybe later.
C’mon. Let’s go check out the house.”

She didn’t believe him for
a second but she was anxious to see what he had in store for her. She
followed him from the backseat of the car up the winding path that
led to the front door of one of the most magnificent houses she’d
ever seen. Although the simple word “house” just didn’t
seem to cut it. It looked like one of those places she’d seen
on TV when they were showcasing outrageous homes that cost millions
of dollars. Knowing this was par for the course for Alex, their
surroundings still took her breath away.

It had taken a while but she’d
kind of gotten used to Alex’s lifestyle. In that he took her to
restaurants she’d never stepped foot in or his penthouse
apartment that never failed to amaze her with its panoramic views of
the city. And of course the private plane she knew he used often. But
for the most part she didn’t live his lifestyle. She had her
own comfortable life thanks to some smart business decisions she’d
made and the fact she’d never been one to live extravagantly.
New York might seem like one of the most expensive places in the
country but if you dug deep enough and were willing to get creative,
it wasn’t that hard to live on a budget.

This, on the other hand, was the
first time they’d ever taken a vacation together and she’d
obviously aimed her expectations way too low.

Alex wrapped his arm around her
waist at the massive wooden front door while he entered a pass code
into a keypad and depressed his thumb on some sort of scanner.
High-tech and gorgeous. The dollar signs spun out of control in her
head.

Together they strode inside and
she found herself staring at an eye-popping cavernous room that took
open concept to a whole new level. There was so much to see, from the
multiple seating and game areas to the gourmet kitchen that drew her
gaze like a magnet. From her vantage point she counted six wall ovens
and was that a—? Shit. An open brick pizza oven large enough to
feed a small army.

I see you eyeballing the
kitchen. Don’t even get any ideas in that direction. You’re
on vacation and you have other matters to tend to. Like me.”

For some reason his words made
her blush. She felt the heat flood her from head to toe.

He ushered her down a hall of
closed doors she presumed were bedrooms to the double doors at the
end, pushed them both open and motioned for her to go in ahead of
him. “Your home away from home for the week, milady.”

The first thing she noticed was
the massive black wooden bed playing center stage in an equally
massive room. The fluffy linens and pillows were stark white and
beckoned her to come lie down and sink into them. There were also
white silk drapes behind the headboard that extended up across the
ceiling and came down partway at the end of the footboard, creating a
billowy, decadent canopy that filled her mind with wicked sexual
images of what Alex would do to her in this bed. Her sex clenched.
Beyond the bed she spied huge floor-to-ceiling shutters that covered
two walls of the room where she imagined full walls of windows stood
behind them.

She wanted to run around the room
and touch everything. If she had her phone she’d be snapping
pictures to text to Susan later. Her best friend would love this
place. Thoughts of her friend brought real life crashing back. First
things first.

Where’s the
bathroom?”

Alex pointed to a door at the far
corner of the room.

Finally.

Harper lunged for her purse on
the floor next to the bed and ran for the bathroom. So far she
couldn’t tell if he’d seen the pregnancy test in her bag
or not. She’d tried to read into every look he gave her and all
that got her was a raging headache. She flipped the lock behind her
and with barely a glance at the luxurious spa-like bathroom, she
flounced down on the toilet seat and began digging through the
contents of her purse.

Her normally organized things
were haphazardly thrown together and it took quite a bit of digging
to find the box she sought. She pulled it free and examined it
for—what exactly was she looking for? A note? The simple
cardboard container looked tamper free as far as she could tell but
that didn’t mean squat. If her purse had been dumped on the
floor he had to have seen this not so discreet white and purple box.

She dropped the purse to the
ground and rested her head in her hands. What the hell was she
supposed to do? The man just on the other side of the door drove her
crazy. And when it came to him she had no capacity to say no. Her
feelings were deeply ingrained at this point and short of never
seeing him again, she’d never deny him anything.

Which meant she’d have to
talk to him about this. She lifted her head and carefully opened the
box. She had no idea if sound carried through the luxurious island
house, but she wasn’t taking any chances. She had to take the
test and find out once and for all. The not knowing for sure was
going to kill her.

Under different circumstances
she’d imagined this as one of the most exciting events of her
life. The idea of Alex being in love with her and them raising a
family together had the makings of the perfect happily ever after. If
only life worked out like that instead of being so damned messy all
the time.

Before she chickened out again,
Harper shifted and adjusted her body so she could pee on the stupid
stick. Despite not having used the facilities since before Alex
loaded her onto a plane, nothing happened. Her body froze,
uncooperative. She willed her body to relax; knowing the tension of
the last couple of days was still weighing down on her.

Hey, hurry up in there.
We’ve got stuff to do today.”

Harper jerked her hand and nearly
toppled to the floor. She grasped the edge of the counter and
rebalanced her body. “Okay,” she replied. Guilt at hiding
in the bathroom prevented her from firing back something nasty for
his obnoxious behavior. She shoved the test back into the box and
buried it back at the bottom of her purse. Later when she had more
time she’d finish the job and then her and Alex could tackle
the truth. As she washed her hands in the copper basin sitting on top
of the granite counters she finally took a moment to take in her
surroundings. Glass, granite and stone surrounded the space. The dark
gray tones of the stone highlighted the blues and greens of the glass
and tile perfectly. It gave her a sense of an indoor space that had
been married to the outdoors. Her gaze landed on the gigantic tub and
her eyes widened. Holy hell. It looked large enough to hold half a
football team

or
an orgy. She rolled her eyes.

The large window above the rim of
the tub, although she’d have to refer to it as a hot tub due to
its size, looked like it latched and opened to the outside. The
frosted glass allowed a lot of light into the space but currently
blocked her view and left her curious.

She stepped into the giant tub
and reached for the latch on the window. She pushed it open and
gasped at the view in front of her. Sand so white it nearly blinded
her led to the open ocean not more than two hundred feet from where
she stood. For a half a second she entertained the idea of climbing
out the window and running for the water. She could already feel the
sun-kissed heat on her face and the cool, soft grains of sand between
her toes.
