“Do you really want me to stop
Dominique?” He moaned, while his fingers found his way inside of her.

Dominique could hardly comprehend
what was happening to her. Adam kept his eyes on her while he slid his fingers
further inside of her. It gave him great pleasure to watch her lips quiver and
her eyes blaze each time he touched her.  Dominique didn’t know what
turned her on more, the thought of him touching her right there in the office
or the fact that his gaze never left her own.

“Adam stop.” Even as she said the
words she found herself moving her hips and adjusting herself to fit his
fingers deeper inside of her.

“If you really want me to stop
Dominique, then stop me,” he said as his fingers played with her more rapidly
now. Adam covered her mouth with his as he felt her quiver and release against
him.

Adam reluctantly removed his
fingers from her and slowly licked them, while moaning with delight at his
devilish deed. Dominique knew that if she wasn’t careful, this man was going to
make her forget just what it was she was there to do.

Chapter Fourteen

“Dominique, you are positively
glowing,” said Molly as she took a bite of her sandwich. She and Dominique were
at the deli located next door to the office. She had refused Adam's invitation
to lunch telling him that he was being punished for doing what he did to her at
the office.

And she meant it, how dare he make
her feel that way while at work? He was going to have to be punished she told
him and she would do just that later on tonight. But if he did not get his work
done, she would be unable to punish him properly. Her innuendo was enough to
send him back into his office, files in hand to continue his work.

“I suppose Adam has something to do
with that glow? Molly asked.

Dominique couldn’t help but tell
her friend about the mid-morning tryst she and Adam had.

“Let me guess, said Molly wide
eyed, the corner of the filing room, the section where no one can see, am I
right?”

Dominique blushed. “How did you
know? Oh my god, please tell me no one saw! I'll be mortified!”

Molly couldn’t help but laugh at
Dominique's embarrassment.

“Oh Dominique, no one saw. I know
the location because there have been many an office tryst in that very spot,”
she said laughing, myself included.”

“What? You mean you were dating someone
from the office Molly? Who was it? Was it a lawyer?” Dominique asked excited
and intrigued.

“No, it was Neal, he used to work
here as an investigator, once he got out of the military he couldn't find a job
so I spoke to Mr. Caruso and he hired Neal. He worked here up until a few
months ago, right about the time that Brandon joined the firm. I guess blood is
thicker than water.”

“Oh Molly, that's terrible, I
didn’t know that Mr. Caruso could be so cruel. That must have been so awkward
for you to have brought Neal to their penthouse for the party.”

“No, it wasn’t that bad really,
Neal and I talked about it and he wanted to go, he didn’t want Mr. Caruso to
think he'd gotten the better of him you know? But I will tell you this
Dominique; he can be very callous man.”

“Well he is a lawyer Molly.”

“No Dominique, I mean to his
employees. You’re dating his favorite son so you probably won’t see that side
of him but trust me when I tell you, he can be a real sneaky son of a bitch.
He's usually angry all the time and he's had several affairs, he's just a
bastard but I hope that doesn’t make you want to leave or anything,” she said
laughing.

“Oh don't worry about me Molly, I’m
not going anywhere.”

Nick Kilarmo sat across the street
from the deli and watched as Dominique enjoyed a lovely lunch with her
co-worker.

“Enjoy it while you can Miss
Greenway, enjoy it while you can.”

At first, Nick Kilarmo had only
planned to hurt Adam; he had no reason to want to hurt Dominique. She was
innocent in this whole thing, in fact the only thing she seemed to be guilty of
was falling for Adam. But he was sure once he got Adam out of the picture she
would move on. He really didn’t care if she did or didn’t, and after last
nights failed attempt, he just wanted Adam gone. That will show that miserable
old man whose boss he told himself.

But there was something about
Dominique that didn’t quite sit well with him and even though he couldn’t put
his finger on it, he knew that with a few phone calls and some more digging, he
could find out all about her, and that's what he did.  And while he was
being dragged away by those rent
a cops
at the firm,
he thought he recognized her, but from where? Why did she seem so familiar?

It wasn’t until later on that night
when he was going through his computer that it hit him, she was Greenway's
wife, and she was the woman from the photograph! Had he not chosen to look it
up on the internet again he would not have been able to put two and two
together. That was her alright and he had every intention of getting rid of her
before she got rid of him.
Two birds, one stone,
he thought to himself
as he added Dominique to the equation.

With Adam tucked away safely in his
office, Dominique was able to get her work done. She felt a hell of a lot
better knowing that she and Adam weren’t the first to christen the office.

By the time five o'clock arrived
she was more than ready to get a start on the weekend. She had neglected her
laundry and even after two months there was still some decorating to be done
before it felt completely like home.
I've been spending so much time with
Adam, I’ve forgotten about decorating my place,
she smiled to herself.
He certainly is a sweet temptation,
she looked up and there he was.

“You ready to go Dominique?”

Adam walked Dominique and Molly out
to their cars. After waving good bye to Molly, Dominique unlocked her car and
started the ignition. There was a click, but the engine didn’t turn over.
Before she could try it again, Adam very calmly told her to get out of the car.
Dominique did not hesitate, especially once she remembered the shootout that
happened just last night.

Once he'd gotten Dominique safely
in his own car, and had driven across the street, Adam called security who then
notified the police. Dominique watched as security activated the fire alarm and
as a precaution, began clearing the building.

It wasn’t until Adam returned that
he told her what was going on.

“Dominique, someone put a small car
bomb underneath your car, it was amateurish but would have gotten the job
done.”

“What? Are you serious Adam? Why
would someone do that? And why me Adam? Just what exactly is going on? Are you
sure it was meant for me? I mean maybe they meant it for one of the attorneys
or something, surely it can't be for me!”

“I don’t know Dominique, you could
be right but after last night, I’m guessing that this is Nick Kilarmo's doing
and that he's trying to get to me through you and I’m not about to let that
happen. The police are going to want to talk to you Dominique and when their
done I’m taking you back to your place, you’re going to pack a bag and stay at
my place, I can keep you safe there until they catch this guy.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa hold on a minute
Adam, I appreciate the chivalry really I do but I am not about to change my
life again because of somebody who may or may not be after me. I mean no
offense Adam, but you’re the lawyer and so is your father, and your brother
well you told me yourself that he runs with a rough crowd so who's to say that
one of you isn’t the target. Thanks but no thanks, I am not staying with you
Adam, it's out of the question. I'm just getting used to being on my own Adam
and now you want me to
come
stay with you? No, however
temporary it may be I don’t want to do it.”

“Dominique? Why are you being so
stubborn? I mean it’s obvious that whoever is doing this is trying to get to me
by hurting you. I only want to keep you safe that's all.”

“I get that Adam, but I’m not going
to go into hiding. Now can we please change the subject? The police are here
anyway, let’s go answer their questions then if you wouldn’t mind bringing me
home I’d appreciate it thanks.”

Adam didn’t understand the sudden
change in Dominique but she had her reasons he was sure, he just wished that
she would tell him what they are.

Dominique was angry, things weren’t
going as planned and she felt like she was

losing
control.

Between the shooting last night and
a car bomb being placed under her car she wondered what it was all about, was
Brandon so callous and sick that he'd hurt his own brother? Or maybe I’m being
naive and this is all aimed at me, I mean Brandon and Nick could very well know
exactly who I am and they are trying to make sure I don't talk.

But how could they possibly know?
She questioned herself. No, there is no way they know who I am, no way. Someone
was after Adam, but she didn’t know why.

She knew she shouldn’t have jumped
down his throat at his offer for her to stay at his place but that wasn’t part
of the plan.
If I stay at his place, I’ll only make things worse
.

As Nick walked past the parking
garage with his baseball cap pulled down as far as it would go, he couldn’t
help but notice the police activity despite the fact that the bomb obviously
didn’t go off. “Fuck!” He cursed out loud...

I should have known that Adam
knows what a car bomb looks like, he's a fucking high profile lawyer, and they
probably teach them what to look for in law school for
christs
sake, FUCK! Well  It’s on to plan B Mrs. Greenway, I tried to make things
less painful for you but I can see now that I’m going to have to be more
direct, yeah tonight it’s just gonna be me and you Dominique, just me and you.”

Dominique was silent as Adam drove
her home and when he pulled up in front of the brownstone, he stopped her
before she could get out.

“Dominique, have I done something
to offend you?” he asked looking hurt.

“No Adam of course not, I just need
some space tonight that's all. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed what with having a
bomb placed under my car.

I feel drained Adam and just want
to be alone. I'll call you later, thanks for the ride. Dominique gave him a
quick kiss on the cheek before she got out of the car. While he watched her get
into her home safe, Adam needed to make a call.

Hey dad, listen, I think it's time
you called in that favor to DiNunzio. Someone put a car bomb under Dominique's
car tonight, and I think we both know good and well who it was.”

“Is she alright son?”

“Yes, I just dropped her off at
home. Now make the call dad please.”

Once Adam finished speaking with
his father, he glanced up at Dominique's window before driving home.

It feels good to be home. Dominique
thought as she opened a bottle of wine, turned on some music and thought about
running a hot bath.  First I think I’ll order out though. As she kicked
off her heels and reached for the phone, she didn't notice the big bulky figure
coming at her from behind.

The blow to the back of her head
knocked her onto the floor. Before she could take a breath to scream her
assailant landed a punch to her face instantly splitting her lip. As she tried
to crawl away he grabbed her by the back of her shirt, almost ripping it from
her body.

A heavy shoe landed on her backside
as she tried to crawl away.
It's
owner wore a black
ski mask as he pulled her up to face him. Dominique was being held inches off
the floor. Fighting back as best she could, she clawed at his face, finally
ripping the mask
off .

“Now why did you have to go and do
that Mrs. Greenway? Now I’m definitely gonna have to kill you,” Nick grunted as
he picked her up completely now and threw her over his shoulder. On his way
towards the bedroom he stopped, and turned up the volume on her stereo.
Oh
my god he's going to rape me before he kills me,
she thought to herself as
he threw her onto the bed. Screams began to escape her mouth but Dominique was
quieted when she felt the cold glock against her skin. He was so busy talking
that he hadn’t noticed Dominique sliding her hand underneath one of her
pillows.

“Now here's how this is going to
go.” While panting, he tucked his gun into the waist band of his pants and
straddled her. “I'm gonna kill you, make it look like a robbery, and a rape
too,” he smirked.

“And that'll solve my little
problem of you going to the cops and telling them all about how me and Brandon
accidentally killed your family,” he said condescendingly. “What? You look
surprised Mrs.
Greenway,
you didn’t think anybody
would recognize you?

Oh I didn’t at first but it wasn’t
until I saw you at the old man's office the other day that it dawned on me, and
once I got a good look at you and figured out who you were I said to myself, I
gotta take this bitch out before she takes me out. Now that's only fair Mrs.
Greenway, don’t you think?”  He said as he ran his free hand up her thigh
and between her legs.

Dominique shuddered, “Why did you
do it?” She cried.

“I didn't do anything, it was that
asshole Brandon's idea to get back in the car and keep going, once he saw that
there was no helping them we got the fuck out of there. Oh I wanted to help the
poor sap who laid there moaning but Brandon man, he's a heartless son of a
bitch.

He said if I didn’t follow his
lead he'd leave me there and that was not going to happen.”

“Mmmmm, I bet you’re a tasty little
morsel aren’t you?”

Dominique could not believe what
she had just heard.

“So you're saying that my husband
was alive? What about my boy? Was he alive too?” She sobbed.

For a moment Nick felt remorseful,
he remembered how he felt when he saw Teddy lying there on the ground looking
so fragile. “NO!” He shook his head violently; he needed to discard the images.
Besides not wanting to get caught, Nick thought that once he was rid of
Dominique, he would get rid of the images that haunted him every night.

Dominique was once again over come
with grief at the thought of how her boy's had suffered while Nick and Brandon
simply stood by and watched. For a moment she was going to give up, give up and
let him kill her, but the thought of Brandon getting away with murder
infuriated her and she could not let that happen.

“Look at you. You know what Mrs.
Greenway? I came here tonight prepared to shot you right in the head but I
changed my mind, I’d much rather kill you with my bare hands.” Dominique fought
hard against his hands that were now all over her.

His breath reeked of cigarette
smoke and whiskey. Dominique needed to do something to keep him calm long
enough to do what she needed to do.

“What are you going to do to me?
She asked as she slowly opened her legs.

“Mmmmm, somebody likes it rough,”
Nick moaned as his fingers began to trace the inside of her thighs.

Dominique held her breath as he
leaned down close to kiss her. Feeling his erection against her, she brought
her knee up hard against him. Nick let out a pained grunt as he reached down to
cover and protect himself. Dominique rolled off the bed and as he lunged
towards her she quickly removed the safety from her gun and fired. Nick
staggered for a moment, looked down at the hole in his chest and then back at
her before collapsing on the floor.

“That's for my Stephen and Teddy
you son of a bitch, and this is from me.” Dominique shot him between the legs
before dialing 911.

Adam sat at home mindlessly
flipping through the TV channels while he waited to hear from Dominique. It
wasn't long however, until he dozed off. It wasn't until midnight when he awoke
with a start. Something’s not right he told himself, as he dialed Dominique's
number.

When he couldn’t reach her on her
cell, Adam jumped in his car and drove over to the brownstone. The instant he
saw all of the police cars and an ambulance blocking the street, he knew
something had happened to Dominique.

“I'm gonna kill that son of a
bitch,” he muttered as he made his way through the blockade. The street was
full of bystanders, police, detectives and the crime lab. Shit, what happened
here?

“Sir you can't go in there.” Was
the response of a police officer who was preventing him from going any
further.

“You don’t understand, that’s my
girlfriend’s house officer, please you've got to let me through!”
“I'm sorry sir no one gets in until I get the Okay.”

“Where is she? Is she alright?”

Adam was frantically looking for
any sign that Dominique was alright.
Please let her be alright,
he
silently prayed.

When he saw her sitting in the back
of an ambulance while EMT's checked her out, he broke through the barricade
ignoring all shouts to stop and ran to her. Dominique threw herself into his
arms and would not let go. Adam had never welcomed a feeling such as the one he
experienced while holding her in his arms.
There's no way that Nick could
have found out who Dominique really is,
Adam wondered,
he's too damn
stupid to have figured it out. No
,
that son of a bitch went after her to
get to me, but I bet he wasn't expecting to die tonight;
Adam thought to
himself and held Dominique tight.

“Dominique I thought I’d lost you.”

“I killed him Adam, I shot and
killed him!” She cried.  “He was trying to rape me and
I
,
I shot him,” Dominique stammered as she tried to regain her composure. She felt
so cold and she couldn’t stop shivering. Adam looked up to see the coroner
wheeling out the dead body of Nick Kilarmo, Dominique didn’t have to tell him
who it was she had shot, he already knew.

After the police finished
questioning her, she was allowed to leave.

“Dominique are you sure you don’t
want to go to the hospital and get thoroughly checked out?” Adam questioned as
he looked at her cuts and bruises.

“Adam, I’ll be fine, I just need
some rest, but I think I’ll take you up on your offer to stay at your place. If
you’ll have me?”

“Of course Dominique, let's go.”

By the time Adam reached his home
Dominique's head was throbbing. She was also dirty, bleeding and tired.

Adam seemed to read her thoughts as
he ran a steaming hot shower for her. After helping her out of her tattered and
torn clothes, Dominique would not let go of Adam's hand.  Her eyes filled
with tears and he kept her close while he removed his own clothes and got into
the shower with her. Dominique could hold her tears no longer and as she wept
uncontrollably under the hot steam, Adam held her while he slowly washed
her.  She winced when he gently brushed against the bruises that Nick had
given her.  Adam wished he'd pulled the trigger himself.

Dominique and Adam left the warmth
of the shower reluctantly. Even as Adam dried her off and put her in one of his
sweatshirts, Dominique still felt cold. She had never shot anybody before. She
had always been sure that she could do it but she wasn’t expecting the
aftermath to be so numbing.
It's because of what the son of a bitch told me
about my boys,
she convinced herself.

Chapter Fifteen

“Baby, I’m going to make you some hot tea.”
Adam sat her on the bed and placed the thick down comforter around her.

“Adam, could you make it something
stronger?”

“Absolutely, I’ll be right back.”

It was three in the morning, and
even though both were exhausted, neither could sleep. Instead, the two lie
awake in bed.

“How are you feeling baby?” Adam
whispered in her ear.

“I'm doing better thank you Adam.
Thank you for everything, I thought I was going to die tonight.”

Adam smoothed her still damp hair
and ran his fingers alongside her cheek as they lay in the dark; he whispered
things to her, things that only lovers could understand. Dominique longed for
his touch, she wanted to feel that gentleness all over her, Adam wanted to give
her what she needed, and soon their bodies were entangled as one. Dominique
loved the feeling he gave her each time he exploded inside of her, it felt as
if he was giving himself completely to her, and that’s exactly what she wanted.

Jonathan Caruso lay in bed wide
awake. After Adam had called and told him that Nick had attacked Dominique and
she had shot him, he became anxious and wound up.
Dominique is certainly
stronger than she appears to be. She saved me from having to go to DiNunzio.
Dominique Foster just took care of all my problems. No more Nick means no more
blackmailing, no more threats to harm my son and most importantly no more
chance that she'll ever find out
who
was with him the
night of the accident. Even if it did come out now, Brandon could blame it all
on Nick. Put Nick in the driver’s seat so to speak. The secret died with him,
and now only Brandon, Adam and I know what really happened.
Jonathan yawned
as he finally fell asleep.

Brandon Caruso sat at the end of
the bar and sipped his whiskey. It was his third one; he had just found out
that Nick had been shot and killed. And by his brother's girlfriend of all
people,
but why? Why would Nick attack Dominique? It didn’t make sense. Was
the guy that far gone that he thought what he was doing was right? Did he even
know who she was? How the hell did he even know her? What was going on with you
buddy? Something was going on with you Nick and I’m going to find out what it
was,
He thought to himself as he paid his tab and headed out the door.

It was pre-dawn by the time Brandon
reached Nick's apartment. Although he had been there several times before,
Brandon forgot how dingy and deserted the place seemed to always
feel
. He had no problems entering the lobby as that lock had
long ago been broken and obviously never replaced.

The light in the hallway however
shone bright against the dirty and cold ceramic floors. The cracks in the
ceiling that ran down into the walls reminded him of an old woman who was once
a beauty but had now aged badly due to neglect. Nick lived on the first floor.
As Brandon picked the lock, it gave quite easy. He smirked as he thought;
you
must have been losing your touch buddy, the Nick I knew would never have let
that go.
“Oh well, don’t matter anymore anyways,” he shrugged.

Cock roaches scurried across the
floor the moment he turned on the overhead light.

“Goddammit! I fucking hate
roaches!” He shouted as he stomped on whichever ones he could find.

“Now what were you up to buddy?” he
asked lighting a cigarette and taking a long drag. As he looked around the
room, Brandon recognized the worn out sofa, that sometimes doubled as a bed for
him on those nights where he was too wasted to drive back home to the
penthouse. The desk was a new addition though, he didn’t have it the last time
Brandon was there, it looked as if it had seen better days and as he approached
it, he hoped that nothing was living inside.

“Leave it to you Nick to have a
state of the art laptop on a piece of shit desk.” He said out loud, “now what
was it you were looking for?”

As Brandon sat down in the busted
up office chair he opened up the history on Nick's laptop. “This is going to
take a while. “Brandon swore as he saw page after page of pornographic
material.

The sun was rising by the
time Brandon found his first clue. He needed a snort of coke to keep him going
before he started opening more web pages. The first was news footage of the
accident.

It showed a tow truck removing the
mangled mustang from around the tree and said they were withholding the
victims’ identities pending notification of next of kin.  Brandon's hands
began to shake as he clicked on the next one. As the page opened up, Stephen
and his son Teddy stared right at him.

Startled, he jumped back into the
chair. “What are you afraid of?” He whimpered, “It's just a fucking picture.”
he laughed.  “So that’s what they looked like,” he whispered. Stephen
smiled proudly as he held his little boy up on his shoulders. Dominique stood
off the corner and was almost out of the shot. “Why the hell were you looking
at this buddy?”
