Chapter Six

Hoppii and Mahingkovski look at each other and then at Lar DeVito.

A few dozen more Canivuurorians look at their tribe chief too with hungry eyes, licking their drooling lips.

Lar DeVito moves slowly, dragging his muscular tail on the ground.  He stops right beside Zaak and chuckles.  “Zaak, do you remember me?”

“Sure, Chief.  I should… have killed… fuck… you on spot.  I’m too… too kind to be, be… an army commander.”

“Too stupid.”  He lowers his head.  His nose is only two or three inches away from Zaak.

Zaak stares at him.  “Okay, you win.  What the fuck do you want from me?”

“I want to eat you, General.” He licks his huge lips and then looks at Bonita.  “And then…” His smile is now absolutely dirty.

“Leave her alone.” Zaak roars.

“Get her.”  Lar DeVito’s eyes widen.

“Yes, Chief.” Hoppii and Mahingkovski jump over and hold her arms with their tiny claws.

Bonita screams and struggles.  Soon, she frees her arms and drops to the ground.

“Get her.”  Lar DeVito roars.

More Canivuurorians close in.

Bonita screams and runs to the spaceship.  Hoppii hops over and opens his huge mouth.  His sharp teeth are shining.   The hot breath sends Bonita to screams at the top of her lungs.

“Don’t hurt her.” Lar DeVito wants the girl in his bed tonight.

Hoppii closes his mouth.  The crushing noise is so fearsome that Bonita almost drops to the ground.

Hoppii jumps over and grabs her foot.  Bonita grabs the door handle and kicks hard.   Hoppii drags harder, lifting both her feet in the air.  With a desperate scream, Bonita kicks with all her power, sending one foot on Hoppii’s huge nostrils.

“You mother fucker!”  Hoppii drops to the ground, nose bleeding.

Bonita rushes into the ship and punches the control panel with great violence.  Suddenly, the spaceship spits fire and lifts into the air.

“Ahhhh… help! Zaak!  Zaak…” She screams, holding whatever she can with both hands.  The ship flies higher, soon disappearing into the heavy clouds.

Lar DeVito looks at the sky for a few moments and then turns to look at Zaak.  “Loser, Zaak.”

“Fuck!  Cold.  So cold.”  Zaak’s body is shaking.  After a long while, he manages to raise his head.  “Kill me, you filthy creature.  My troops are going… going to find you… and… and kill you.”  He drops to the ground, flat.

“Keep dreaming, Zaak.” Lar DeVito chuckles.  “A quick death is too much of a fucking luxury for you, General.”  He tilts his head.  “Take him.”

The dragging of gravity on her body is reducing quickly.  Soon Bonita feels that she is floating in the air.   The door swings back and forth.  She can see clouds below.  Once in a while, icebergs appear in between the edges of clouds, the massive white pyramids surrounded by endless water.

“I’m dying!” Her mind is still functioning.  But her body is all paralyzed.

“Warning, warning, hard landing, hard landing.” A soft voice announces.

Shit, I’m going to smash to the ground and die.
Bonita sucks her lips, trying to hold back her tears.

Her throat is burning dry.  She wants to drink water.  Yeah, cold water, with tiny ice cubes of course.

She passes out before the crushing rubling reaches her eardrums.

Bonita wakes up.

Pain!

Her arms feel heavy as she raises them, testing for injury.  She raises her leg, but an “Ouch” pushes that leg down immediately.

It doesn’t take long for Bonita to figure out what happened to her.

Oh, wow, I survived the crash.  I’m still alive.  This is so awesome.

Yeah, right, awesome.
But I wish I were dead.
The pain is so fucking unbearable.

With a quick look at the crack across the top of the spaceship wreckage, she knows that the Lamborrari is no longer luxury, comfy, or safe.  It smells of noxious gas and it’s deadly cold inside.   A cold gush of wind sends snowflakes through the crack.  They dance in the air and land gracefully on her leg.   She sits up and checks.  “Gosh!” Her leg has been covered by a big pile of snow.   She pulls her leg but it won’t move.

Her leg has been frozen to the steel hull!

Magically, her military training kicks in immediately.  Without panicking a bit, she takes a deep breath and moves her body forward.   Bit by bit, she peels her pants off the floor with both hands.   The ice holding her leg breaks into pieces, large and small.

The twin suns are settling towards the horizon of Le Jura when she finally frees her leg and retreats to a warmer corner.  She rubs her leg carefully, hoping to restore the blood circulation.

But her leg is all pale and numb.  She feels
nothing
at all.

Am I going to lose my leg?

As a soldier, she is prepared to be wounded, or to die for her country.  But losing a leg during her honeymoon?
That sucks!

What’s next?
She shifts her body a bit to stay away from the deadly coldness of the metal hull.  Look around, she is so happy to see her favorite chair cushion tangled with a broken cable.   She inches over and grabs the cushion.   Then she moves her body back and puts the cushion on the hull.

She feels comforted the moment her back drops to the cushion.   Soon, she sees a fireplace with dancing flares.   Zaak comes over, sitting right beside her.

“Zaak, where have you been?” She feels that Zaak has been missing for a while but she can’t figure out why.

“To make a coffee for you, Bonita.  Like it?”

She sees the coffee.  Wow, my favorite Columbian with double cream.  “Thanks so much, Zaak…”

She smiles, leaning over to kiss Zaak.

Gosh, his lips are so cold!

She opens her eyes and sees the real world.   “Goddamnit! I don’t want to die!” She yells.

She opens her eyes wide, trying to stay conscious.
Where is Zaak?  I want to find him and go home together.  And I want to see Mom too…

Chapter Seven

Bonita’s mind drifts back and forth between the cruel reality and the fantasy dream world.   She knows that she’s going to die if she stays still in the wreckage.

If I die, I want to die like a soldier.

She bites her lower lip and sits up.   Her eyelashes are covered with ice bits from her breath, making it hard for her to see anything.  She wipes her eyes a few times but that doesn’t help much.

Looking around, she doesn’t see blood.
Good!
She does see a few big bruises and scratches.   And her back and butt are painful and sore.   As for her legs, she has absolutely no idea because they don’t feel anything.

Walking is obviously impossible.
But I can use my hands, right?

She has no idea where she is.  There is no guarantee that she can find any civilization.  Worse, she may fall into the hands of that vicious reptilian ‘civilization’.   Their sharp teeth told her that she’s only a piece of fresh meat when being caught.

Oh, well, that won’t make a difference, right?
Die of coldness and hunger, or die of… being lunch.

It’s weird that the word
lunch
makes her feel so hungry.
I could probably eat an alien should I catch one at the moment.
She’s so amused by her unusual thought.
Maybe they’ll go down well with a bit of Teriyaki sauce?
She’s never been a big Japanese sushi fan, but anything
food
is so tempting now.
Anyway,
Zaak told her once that lizards
do
taste like chicken.

She rolls to the door, pushing hard.  The door is now stuck to the ground.   Damnit, it won’t move.

Bonita looks at the crack on the top.  It’s too small to crawl through.
Maybe losing thirty five pounds will get me through?  Yeah, right, Bonita, you don’t have to do anything now to lose that much—or more.
She swallows hard to subdue the hunger.  There is no saliva at all.

She pushes the door again.   No luck.  She hits the door with her shoulder.  Still no luck.

Damnit! I’m going to die on this stupid, ‘most wonderful and absolutely fantastic planet you will have to see, Bonita’.
She’s not blaming Zaak at all.  In fact, she feel so good because Zaak is dying somewhere on the same planet too, right?

We’re together.  Oh, wow, this is absolutely wonderful.

Her mind drifts into her fantasy world again…

“Hello…” The voice is so remote.

“Mom?” Bonita is so pleased to see Mom.

“Anybody there, hello?”

“Mom… it’s me, Bonita.”  She reaches to Mom for a hug but Mom steps away.   “Mom?”

“Hello, are you alive?”

“What?  Mom, I
am
alive.  Yes.  See, I’m talking.  Mom... See…”  Bonita’s vision blurs.  She tries to open her eyes wider.

Now she can see… Hah?  A dinosaur?  Gosh! A dinosaur is staring at her from the crack!

She closes her eyes right away.
I don’t want to be the lunch.  No, I swear I don’t.

Moments later, she opens her eyes slowly.  Good, the dinosaur is no longer there.
I’m safe now.

Her heart drops while a happy smile crawling onto her tiring face.
Goddamnit, this is my only opportunity to survive!

She no longer feels the pain and numbness; nor is she afraid of any carnivorous dinosaurs.  She screams with deafening high-pitch, kicking and banging on the deadly cold hull. “Someone, come back, hello… Oh, fuck!  Please, don’t leave!  You mother fucker, can’t you hear me?  I’m here, HERE! I’m alive.
I promise I am!
”

The moment she hears steps coming back, she has used up the last string of her energy.   “Thank you…” she murmurs, slipping into the endless darkness.

“No, this is not hot enough.”

“But it’s boiling.”

“Yeah, I know.   Look at her legs.”

“Okay, I’ll cover it for now.  Hopefully that will help.”

“Hopefully.”

Bonita hears the conversation; then she feels the warmth.

Where am I?

She opens her eyes and sees two dinosaurs.
Oh, no!

Then she realizes that they are the same kind of ‘dinosaurs’ at the hotel.

Yes, I’m saved!

She gives them a small smile.

“You okay?”

I guess so.
Her lips move.  But no sound comes out.

“Savior, bring her some water, please.” Thornken Perez, the Hibvuurorian tribe chief smiles at his son.

“Sure, Papa.” Savior smiles.  Soon he brings a pot of water.

He slides his hand through her back to help her sits up.
Thank you.
  She mouths him.

Savior brings the pot to her dry lips.  She sucks and swallows hard.   She coughs a few times and then opens her mouth.  “Food.”
Oops!  So embarrassing.
She was trying to say ‘Thank you so much, Savior!’  She always thought that she’s such a well-educated woman with great elegance.

With his hand still holding her body, he grabs a piece of green cookie from a tray his papa brought over.   “Eat.” He smiles.

She takes a bite.  Yeah, all seaweed.   It was the exact one she had tried before.  But it tasted so much better now—she felt the energy slowly returning to her muscles.

A lout burp escapes her mouth, and Bonita turns bright red in embarrassment.  Savior withdraws his scale-covered hand to let her lie comfortably.  “Over eating can kill.” He smiles, taking the tray away.

Bonita’s eyes move along the tray until it disappears into a cabinet.

Savior turns back and looks into her eyes.  “Hibvuuro or Canivuuro?”

“What?” She’s so confused.

“Hibvuuro or Canivuuro?” Savior asks again.

Oh, boy!  Suddenly she realizes that these are the names of the two tribes.   Maybe they are enemies though she’s not so sure.  She will have to make the right pick.  Else anything can happen to her.

Which one?

She will never forget the vicious eyes and sharp teeth of those Canivuurorian attackers.  There is no way that these two smiling, horny dinosaurs belong to the filthy bunch.

“Hibvuuro.” Without hesitation she says with great confidence.

“See, told you.  No need.” Thornken grins happily.

“Friends, alright.  What’s your name?” Savior smiles.

“Bonita.”

“Beautiful name.”

“Thanks!”

“I’m Savior.  I’ll help you recover, our way, okay?”

“Sure.  Thanks so much, Savior.”

Savior looks at his papa.  The tribe chief nods slightly with a tiny smile.  Savior turns back, grabs her pants, and pulls hard.

“What the heck are you doing, Savior?”
Gosh, is he going to rape me?

Thornken takes away the lid from the huge wok and smiles, “Hurry up, Savior.”

Bonita turns her head.  Through the heavy steams, she sees boiling water.

Gosh, they’re going to cook me!

“Oh, no, please…” She struggles.

Oddly, the very last scene of a serial murder movie appears in her head.  “I'm going to have my friend for dinner.”
