Memories they come from a lifetime, like voyages that come from the
sea, many reflections of friends in my past well there all still a big part
of me, now Joe’s become a part of the ocean and Groovy he’s still living
at sea and I’m writing books, songs of hero’s and crooks and refection’s
of just being me.

Sailors set sail for the islands like voyages that come from the sea.
Many reflections of things in my past, well there all still a big part of me,
I’ve recovered in my hammock for hours from the salt and the sand and
the sea, a journey back from the dead like some novel that read of
reflections of just being me.

Open your mine to the tropical sounds of the islands and the Florida
Keys, set your sails for the sun, fill your blender with rum, set yourself a
course and make sure that it’s fun, give yourself a couple of hours,
sometimes it take you all day, first to open your eyes and then to realize
you’ve made it to another day.

“Outside the Wake” is a concept I came up with one afternoon while working a passage in Book #1 of the Adventures of J.C. Stringer. While relaxing at home, gazing out the windows at the mountains off in the distance and waiting for my keyboard to write down something profound, I grabbed my guitar, and started strumming through a few song lyrics I had written a few years back. It was during a time I often refer to as my darkened past.

As I worked the first few lines of the song, I once again thought to myself, “Man, if only I could sing.” Then I laughed. If that were the case, I’d be on the road living out these stories instead of hanging around simply writing them down.

“Outside the Wake” is my version, my pleasure in sharing several of my favorite songs, stories through song I have written over the past many years. Not having the vocal promise of Jimmy, Jack, Robert Earl, Kenny, or John, I decided the talent of writing a few words down at the end of each episode and letting the fans enjoy them in the privacy of their own home worked just fine for me.
