"I can't
come down here and get coffee?" he asks.

“I thought
celebrities didn’t do anything for themselves.”

"He laughs.
That's fair," he says. “I noticed you taking notes and taking pictures. Do
you work for the hospital or are you on my staff?”

Samantha laughs.
"No, neither”, she says.  “I was hired by a vendor to take your
pictures for some sort of Gala.”

“Oh ok so you
work for, I think its, Samantha?”

“Yes.”

He walks around
to her side and extends his hand to her.

“My name is Jacob
Latters.”

“Tiffany Skyler,”
she stumbles as they shake hands.

She can’t tell
him her name is Samantha.

"Nice to
meet you," he says. “Can I buy you a cup of coffee?” he asks.

"No
thanks," she says.

"It's just
coffee," he says.

“Oh alright!”

"How about
you get us a table," says Jacob.

“Ok,” she
responds.

When he
approaches the table, she says, “You’re taller than I expected.”

“I get that a
lot. So you watch my show?” he smiles.

She thought to
herself,
Boy do I!
She is like a little kid on the inside holding her
composure quite well on the outside.

“When I get time
I do,” she says. “So how long have you been visiting the children's sick ward
in various hospitals?”

“About 5 years I
wanted a chance to bring joy to sick children. It’s just so nice to see their
eyes light up when they see me.

They always
remember me from the super hero I played; which is cool I guess! What about
you?”

"What about
me?" she asks.

"What do you
like to do when you're not taking pictures of other people?” he asks.

“I love to relax
with my family. I don’t go out much anymore.”

"Why
not?" he asks.

“Because it’s the
same thing over and over again, you meet someone you start to get to know them
and something goes wrong,” says Samantha. “So I don’t bother," she says.

“So you don’t
have a boyfriend?”

“No and I don’t
want one. I'm focusing on my career. What about you?”

“I don’t have a
girlfriend. I'm too wrapped up in a lot of projects as well.”

There is a brief
silence.

"How do you
like the football season so far?" she asks.

"My team is
the Cowboys. They are doing well out the gate," he says.

"The
Patriots are doing great; 7 wins and no losses this season," she says. “Tom
Brady has broken touchdown records with more to come. I feel great!” she says,
with a big grin on her face.

“Sorry, I talk
too much when it comes to football,” she says looking down at her coffee. “I
think that comes with having a Dad and two brothers. My mom and I were always
out numbered.”

Jacob is
surprised she likes football and knows so much.

“Well I don’t
want to keep you from the kids,” she says.

“Is this the only
event you're covering for me?” he asks.

She responds,
“No,” as she looks down at her cell to read the text message David sent.
“I think I have two more to cover.”

They sit and talk
about the show for a while. She asks about his childhood, to use for her piece
for the Gala. A few nurses walk up and ask for his autograph.

"Do you
mind?" he asks.

"No,"
she replies as she looks at her watch. “I have to go and catch my flight,” she
says standing to her feet. “I have another photographer upstairs who will
finish for me today.”

Jacob stands to
his feet.

“My driver can
give you a ride,” he says.

“No thanks,” she
says, waving goodbye.  "It was so nice to meet you!" says
Samantha.

"It was nice
to meet you too.”

She disappears
and he finishes signing autographs. He really wanted to talk to her more. For
the first time in a long time he had a normal conversation with a beautiful
woman. He likes that a lot. Jacob later smiles at the thought of their simple
conversation. She wasn’t falling all over him. She was just being herself and
he liked that most. He looks forward to seeing her again.

Samantha giggles
in her seat on the plane like a little girl. She just wishes the one time a
celebrity seems sincere, it wouldn’t be this time. If this goes any further she
will have to tell him the truth.

However, she will
cross that bridge when she gets to it. Samantha has a little pep in her step
when she walks into the office the next morning. Nicki quickly runs behind her
into her office.

“Girl what
happened to get you so giddy?” asks Nicki.

Samantha says,
“Girl take a seat. Remember how I had to get pictures for the Gala? Well low
and behold; Jacob came down to the café at the hospital because he wanted to
know who I was. I told him a lie that my name was Tiffany Skyler and that I was
a photographer.”

“What? Why?” asks
Nicki.

“Because you know
I don’t have a great track record of dating celebs. I didn’t think he’d ask me
if I worked for me (Samantha). But he did so I said yes. I really just want to
stay in the background and focus on making this Gala the biggest ever”, she
says, as she dances around her desk. “I was able to get a lot of information
from him because he didn’t know I was Samantha. This will work to my advantage!
Anyway we sat and talked for an hour and he asked if I was coming to any other
hospital events. I told him yes, but I didn’t tell him which events.”

“So you flirted
back?" Nicki asks.

“I guess a
little,” says Samantha.  “My inner sassy girl came out,” she laughs.

"What are
you going to do if he wants to go on a date?" asks Nicki.

“I will tell him
no! I will not go down the same road as before. No dating celebs.

Oh and you know I
don’t date white boys, no matter how fine they are. I just don’t think they can
handle a sista,” Samantha and Nicki laugh.

Two events pass
and Jacob is just about to give up and there she is just as beautiful. Her hair
is long and flowy against her beautiful brown skin.

She is wearing a
red blouse, navy skirt with red pumps and crimson lipstick.  She wants to
look all business today, maybe so he doesn’t notice her. Jacob doesn’t
understand why he is so drawn to her. He dated one black girl in high school.
He prefers women with brunette not blonde hair, but mainly white women. He
likes the fact that she isn’t intimidated by his fame. Despite his first
instinct to rush over he waves, to let her know he saw her. He doesn’t want to
appear desperate.

Shoot he saw me
, thought
Samantha. She tries to ignore him by going to sit in the hallway. Jacob comes
over sitting down next to her.

"I thought
you take pictures at these things?" he asks.

"Paul and I
do," she says. “I'm just observing right now. I will take pictures in
about an hour. I'm early, says Samantha.

“I was beginning
to think you weren’t coming back.”

She smiles. “I
told you I would be back.”

Jacob is all
smiles too. They nervously sit in silence.

“So can I take
you to lunch?” he asks.

“No,” says
Samantha. “I don’t date celebrities.” Looking down at her camera, she says,
“Too bad you’re a celebrity; you seem decent. I dated a celebrity before. It
ended badly making me swear them off forever.”

“Ok how about I
hire you to work for me tonight. I have a photo shoot I need to get done,"
he says. “Can you meet me at Salon 225 in downtown Boston at 6 p.m.?”

With hesitation,
Samantha says, “Yes.”

But wear
something comfortable like tennis shoes. You may have to do a lot of standing.”

"Oh, so what
I have on is too much," jokes Samantha.

"Yeah,"
laughs Jacob.

Samantha takes a
cab over to Salon 225 on Newbury St.

"Jacob she’s
here," says his driver Chuck.

Chuck is Jacob’s
main driver. He usually only drives for him in Montreal but every once and
awhile he will accompany him out of town.

Jacob gets out
the truck as Samantha is exiting the cab. Jacob speaks to the Cab driver.
"Did she pay you?" Jacob asks.

The cab driver
shook his head no.

"How much?”

“$25," he says.

He gave the Cab
Driver a $50.

“Keep the
change.”

"You didn’t
have to do that. I am more than capable of paying for myself," says
Samantha.

“I feel bad
because I should have sent my driver to pick you up.”

"That would
not have been necessary," says Samantha.

"After
you!"  He opens the door for her to the salon.

"How are you
this evening Ms. Skyler?"

“Fine.”

"Tiffany
please," he says. “I almost didn’t recognize you.”

He smells so good
, she thinks as
she falls apart inside; still trying to keep her composure.

“Can I take your
coat?”

"Yes,"
Samantha replies.

The lights are
dim and there is a table with a white linen tablecloth set up in the middle of
the room. She looks back at him with a mean look.

He puts his hands
over his heart and says, "Please don’t be mad. I really just want a chance
to talk to you. I really enjoyed our last conversation.”

"Mr.
Latters!" she starts.

Please have a
seat as he pulls her chair from the table.

“Call me Jacob.”

"Do you
drink wine?"

Yes.

“Good,” he
responds.

The waiter brings
over a bottle of Merlot.

“So you choose to
wear a Patriots jersey why?” he asks.

“Because this is
all I had with me and I sometimes watch the game in my Jersey.”

He thought it was
so cute.

“There is a game
on tonight that I am missing, because I am sitting here with you. No offense,”
she says.

“None taken” he
says. “Have you ever gone to a Patriots game?” he asks.

“Yes, in Atlanta
where I’m from. It would be cool to see them play here," she says.

He loves to see
the excitement in her face.

“It’s funny we’re
both from the South,” she laughs. "Do you hunt?" asks Samantha.

“Yes, deer and
turkey.”

"Same
here," says Samantha.

“Wow a woman
after my own heart.”

She blushes.
"Dinner is delicious," says Samantha.

“Can I speak
candidly?”

"I wouldn’t
have it any other way," he says.

“Have you ever
dated a black woman before?”

"Yes,” he
replies. “I did in high school.”

"Have you
ever dated a white man?" he asks.

“No. I liked a
few guys from a distance but I always felt they were too eager. They just wanted
a taste.”

"A
what?" he asks.

"Sex!"
she replies.

He starts
choking.

“I'm sorry I am
known for being too open. This is one of the reasons I'm single.”

"Well you
can't get rid of me that easy," he says. "So will you go to one more
place with me?" he asks.

“Ok yes!” She
smiles.

He leads her out
to his truck. Chuck looks back in the mirror at Jacob and nods.

"So what
else do you do in Hot Lanta?" Jacob jokes.

“I hang out with
my friends sometimes but mainly I stay to myself.”

“I really can’t believe
you’re single," he says.

“Guys really
can’t handle me. In my line of work, working with celebrities’ everyday can be
torture. They have so many issues. That’s why I don’t date them. But you’re
different. You’re so easy going. I wasn’t expecting you to be this way.”

“Being laid back
is, I guess, my specialty,” he smiles.

They pull up in
the back of a building. Jacob gets out, opens her door, and extends his hand
for hers. He begins to escort her into the stadium. She stops.

"No way!
What, why, how?" she asks.

She jumps up and
down giving him a big hug. They go upstairs to his skybox. They have total
privacy; no cameras. Her mouth drops open as they enter the skybox.

"This is
amazing!" says Samantha.

He realizes he
wants to continue seeing her happy.

Samantha
excitedly shares more Patriot statistics.

"Tom Brady
is my favorite football player," she says.
