Cries flowed from her lips. “Yes, yes, Steve, oh, Steve.”
“Meg, mine.”
She felt the force of his spilling. He hadn’t used a condom. What did that mean? “I love you,” she said.
He rolled on his side taking her with him. He drew a deep breath. “I want you more than I’ve ever wanted a woman. I want you in my life.”
Meg’s hopes hovered on the rim of an abyss. She caressed his face. “For how long?”
“For as long as you want me to stay.”
She heard love in his voice. “Forever.”
“And a day. Meg, I love you.”
The kiss was as sweet as the chocolates he’d sent to her and flavored with a hint of spice. She savored the moment. “There’s something I should tell you.”
He lifted her chin and gazed into her eyes. “Doesn’t matter. Come with me.” He led her to the living room. He grabbed his slacks and pulled a jeweler’s box free. “Forever and day.” He slid the ring home.
Meg threw her arms around him. “I love you.” Their mouths met in a fiery kiss. They sank on the couch.
“You really don’t care.”
He shook his head. “Means I have to make you mine as soon as I can. Something could have happened in the shower.”
She looked up. “We’re going to mess Allie’s wedding plans if we jump ahead of her.”
“She’ll deal.” He touched her lips with his fingers. “Speaking of your sister. Her fiancé sent the ingredients and the recipes for a lover’s feast.”
“I can cook for us but first.” She kissed him. “There’s another hunger we need to satisfy.” She turned into his arms and handed him a condom. “No risks for a bit.”
