The beeping of
his phone pulled him out of the black hole. He sat up, staring at
the wall, still tense. His eyes roamed around the room in search of
the menacing presence he’d felt seconds ago. He was alone, even if
the phantom touch still lingered underneath his clothes like
invisible markings he’d have forever. But he was in a safe place.
Antonio was gone. Luca reached for his phone, trying his best to
breathe slower to calm down his heartbeat. When he saw the message,
he could only smile. As usual, it was Ghost saving him. Even from
his own imagination.

‘I’ll be back
in 5-10 min :) :*’ the text said.

It was only
after several seconds that Luca remembered about the couple outside
his room, and this time there was no violence to hear.

“... will get
smashed tonight,” said Tooth.

Lucky’s voice
was raw with lust when he answered, “I wanna blow you before we
go.”

Luca could
barely believe it. Lucky didn’t seem scared or intimidated by his
boyfriend, so what was this all about?

Tooth gave a
rumbly laugh. “That can be arranged,” he said. What followed was a
high-pitched yelp and another slap, then just the sound of heavy
footsteps on the staircase.

Luca stared at
his door, unsure whether he should go out or wait some more. Was it
safe now? He sat there like in a trance. He wasn’t even sure how
much time passed before Ghost texted him again.

‘I’m downstairs
:)’

Luca took three
big breaths and rolled off the bed. His knees were still soft, but
he managed to walk through the door. Just the knowledge that Ghost
was waiting for him had him rushing down the stairs.

“Ghost?”

He panicked for
a second when he didn’t see his boyfriend, but then he realized
Ghost was crouching behind the couch to pet Nomad. His gaze zeroed
in on Luca. “Hey there. Wow, you look hot. You wanna make me
jealous?” Ghost’s bright smile could melt all of Luca’s troubles,
even ones that were so fresh in his mind.

Luca looked
down at his strategically ripped jeans and cutoff shirt. But what
he needed weren’t compliments―no matter how much he otherwise
wanted to hear them―but Ghost’s warm touch. He walked over and
kneeled to hug him.

“Aww, sweetie.
Are you all right?” Ghost gave his ear a kiss and lost balance,
plopping on his ass.

Luca nodded,
finally relaxing. When Ghost was there, everything felt better.
“Yeah, totally fine. I just missed you.”

“You’re too
cute.” Ghost gave him a kiss and got up, pulling Luca with him.
“Get your jacket and hat. It’s getting cold outside.”

It just melted
Luca’s heart how genuinely kind and considerate Ghost was. “I―
sure. Have you seen Lucky and Tooth?”

“Aren’t they
still here? Tooth’s bike’s outside.” Ghost zipped up his
jacket.

Luca chewed on
his lip and folded his arms. “They were arguing, and I didn’t want
to eavesdrop, but it got really bad,” he whispered.

Ghost frowned.
“Oh. Okay. Did they agree in the end? Was it about Grim again?”

“It
was
about Grim,” muttered Luca, rocking on his heels. “It sounded
really... violent.”

“Did something
happen?” Ghost looked up the stairs. “As far as I know them, I
mean… you see them every day, they care for each other.”

The door to the
basement opened so rapidly Luca hardly suppressed a yelp. Tooth
walked out with a wide grin, pulling an equally satisfied Lucky
behind. It made no sense whatsoever.

“Did you wait
for us?” asked Tooth, putting on his leather jacket. Lucky slid his
slim fingers into Tooth’s massive palm, as happy as ever.

“Nah, I just
came in.” Ghost gave Luca a sideways glance.

“Yeah, we’re
going,” muttered Luca, quickly putting on the jacket and hat. Had
he just dreamt that argument?

Tooth petted
Nomad and walked outside, pulling Lucky behind him. “Prospect,
you’re closing the door.”

Ghost smiled
and shook his head. They went out, and all four of them got on the
road together.

Luca wrapped
his neck with a thick wool scarf, but the cold was still getting to
him. He rarely spent much time in places as cold as Detroit in the
fall, and he was slowly realizing that two months from now, it
would be even worse. They’d have to go shopping for a winter jacket
as soon as possible. At least in the sidecar, he could sink lower,
and possibly even cover himself with some sort of blanket, were
they to travel for a long time. He wouldn’t mind riding behind
Ghost from time to time, like Lucky did, pressed tight against
Tooth’s back, but he appreciated the comfort of his own space in
the sidecar.

He wasn’t very
enthusiastic about the city itself, as he missed the warmth of the
sun on his skin, and the daily swims in the sea he enjoyed in the
warm months. He missed buildings much older than pretty much any
he’d seen in Detroit, the foods that he knew, the melody of his
language, and even the way strangers chatted in the streets. But it
was all right. As long as he was with the one person he cared
about, he could move anywhere, even if he’d love Ghost to see his
own home.

The party was
already in full swing when they arrived, with music that was so
loud Luca could sense the rhythm with his feet once he left the
sidecar. There were many more cars and motorcycles than usual, and
with the loud yells coming from inside the clubhouse, Luca was
eager to stay close to Ghost. He’d never gone to parties like this
one, as Frederico didn’t approve of anything so wild. The only
clubs they ever visited had a rule of men wearing dress shoes, so
that was that.

Luca wished he
could grab Ghost’s hand and make sure everyone knew that amazing
man was
his
. Watching Ghost’s orgasmic face was becoming
Luca’s new addiction, and he couldn’t help but remember it in
random moments throughout the day. Knowing that it was him who
Ghost was willing to bottom for was a newfound source of confidence
for Luca, who’d always been denied a chance to explore a more
active side of his sexuality. But it wasn’t just about the way
Ghost went with Luca’s desires. Luca simply loved being the one to
make him lose all inhibitions and just take his pleasure. It was an
experience that helped to blur the years of being subservient to
all of Frederico’s needs and having his own neglected.

Even though he
kept close to Ghost, Luca didn’t feel all that timid when they
entered the Coffin Nails bar. The speakers roared with metal music,
a whole crowd of bikers in leather cuts were ordering drinks at the
bar, and the ratio of women to men was much higher than usual.

Tooth gently
hugged Lucky to his side before leaning toward Ghost. His mouth
formed the dreaded word that always came with stupid
responsibilities that took Ghost away from Luca.

“Prospect,”
yelled Tooth over the noise. “Go help Blitz with the beer.”

Ghost nodded
and gave Luca a curt smile. “See you later.
Scusa tanto
!” he
added an apology in his fake-Italian accent that never failed to
make Luca laugh. Luca was tempted to send Ghost off with a slap to
the ass, much like he did in the morning, but just remembering
where they were made him push his eager hands down his pockets.

“Wanna have a
drink?” asked Lucky, yelling straight into Luca’s ear.

Luca exhaled
and moved toward the bar. With so many strangers around, he needed
to supplement his courage.

“I used to work
at this bar. I still help out sometimes.” Lucky smiled, and they
tried to push closer to get their drinks, but the swamp of bulky
bodies around them wasn’t helping. It was hard to talk much in that
kind of crowd, but once they walked off with their bottles, Luca
was preparing to finally ask the question that had bothered him
since they left the house.

“You and Tooth,
how long have you been together?”

Lucky thought
for a moment and had a sip of beer. “Around two and a half
years.”

Luca leaned
against the open window in one of the smaller rooms by the bar and
looked out at the goat, which was happily chewing through something
in its well-lit enclosure.

“You two seem
happy.”

Lucky’s smile
became a bit more shy. “He’s my whole world.”

Luca swallowed,
fidgeting next to Lucky. “I heard you two arguing tonight...”

“Oh. Um…
happens.” Lucky muttered and looked away, taking a big gulp of
beer.

Luca grasped
the front of his shirt and swallowed some of the beer from his
bottle. “Does he... beat you?”

Lucky’s lips
parted, and he just stared. “That wasn’t for your ears.”

Luca drank all
of his alcohol in one burning gulp. “You were right at my door. I
didn’t know what to do...”

Lucky covered
his face with his hand. “Oh God… I kinda thought you were out with
Nomad.”

Luca shook his
head, and put his empty bottle on the windowsill, noticing his hand
was trembling despite his best efforts to keep still. “I just... I
didn’t want to just walk in on you.”

“Yeah, that
would have been embarrassing. Listen, it’s fine. He doesn’t like
hit-hit me. I’m okay with it.”

Luca pulled his
hair back. Was Lucky just trying to cover up the domestic violence?
“But... I heard it.”

Lucky’s face
was visibly red even in the dimmed light. “Yeah, he spanked me.
It’s our thing. It turns us both on. But it’s also something…” He
squinted. “I trust him. I trust his judgement. Doesn’t mean I can’t
get hotheaded, but I gave myself over into his hands.”

Luca didn’t
know what to say, but it would be rude not to, so he cleared his
throat. “I mean... I don’t get it, but I’m sure you know what
you’re doing.”

Lucky smiled
and pushed back some of his long hair. “It’s personal. But don’t
worry. No, he’s not hurting me. It’s cute of you to worry.”

“Thanks for
telling me.” Luca squeezed his friend’s shoulder, but his gaze
followed Ghost through the bar. He was easy to spot in the crowd, a
pale presence in the dark. He was carrying a whole barrel of beer
with Blitz. It didn’t look like he’d be free any time soon.

“Don’t stare,”
Lucky said. “People will get ideas.”

“Oh, didn’t you
want to see someone’s dick tonight?” asked Luca, trying to turn it
into a joke, but he knew Lucky was right. Ghost didn’t want to come
out, and he needed to accept that.

Lucky groaned.
“I do, but Tooth’s really off about it. To be honest, I guess he’s
right. It could be sending the wrong message. The guy’s not a
freakshow.” He stood on his toes and looked around, but it wasn’t
the mysterious Grim coming their way.

Milk gave them
a drunken smile and whistled as he approached with a beer in hand.
“There are the twinks!”

Luca slouched
against the windowsill, not impressed. He’d stopped looking like a
twink a good two years ago. “How do you even know that word? Aren’t
you straight?”

Milk spread his
arms and ran his fingers through his hair. “I have Internet.”

Lucky crossed
his arms on his chest. “Or a boy on the side.”

“Do you?” asked
Luca.

“I might have
now,” Milk rasped, trying to pull Luca closer. Fortunately, there
wasn’t much need to fight when a petite red-haired woman pulled him
away by the belt.

“Keep it in
your pants!”

Lucky laughed
out loud as the couple fell to the closest sofa. “That guy is such
a perv, I tell you. He has three kids. Seriously.”

“What does he
do? Other than... molesting guys?” Luca cringed even as he said
that.

“Just wants to
fuck anything with a hole. I bet he’d fuck that goat in the
backyard if no one was looking.” Lucky shook his head.

“Ew, poor
goat!” Luca chuckled, but his face fell when his gaze met Don’s
across the room. Ghost’s dad still hated him. In fact, Luca would
bet Don hated him more with each day. He could see murder being
plotted in Don’s gray eyes.

“Oh, there he
is. That’s Grim.” Lucky grabbed Luca’s arm, discreetly pointing to
a man with his head.

Talking to
Priest, who looked even more tired than usual, was a tall man
dressed from head to toe in black leather. Broad in the shoulders
and with a round, firm ass, he looked like a model impersonating a
Tom of Finland drawing. Just as Luca thought that, Grim removed his
short jacket, remaining in a tank top that showed off his thick
arms. But while he seemed strong, he wasn’t a man-tower like Tooth.
His muscles were equally developed all over, creating a graceful
figure, somewhat like that of a professional dancer. Grim was
constantly smiling, his strong profile sharp enough to cut through
paper. He was a very handsome guy, and on top of that, he looked
nothing like the other, somewhat rugged, members of the club. He
was polished from head to toe, his short black hair in a tidy
haircut with a side parting.

“I can’t see
his dick from here,” mumbled Luca.

“Let’s get
closer. Tooth told me I can have a look through the pants as long
as I don’t stare,” Lucky whispered and began to push through the
crowd.

“Maybe your dad
could introduce us,” suggested Luca. He couldn’t deny being curious
about just how big that dick had to be to freak out Ghost.

“Fuck yeah, he
will.” Lucky pushed all the way to Priest and Grim, who didn’t look
at all like what his nickname suggested, with a wide white smile
spread on his face. “Hey! You must be Grim! I’ve heard all about
you. You want a beer?”

Priest managed
a weak smile and patted Lucky’s back. Grim seemed like a nice guy,
but there was something about him that set off invisible alarms in
Luca’s body. The odd feeling wasn’t gone even when Grim got his
beer and stopped licking Luca with his intense gaze. Priest excused
himself, leaving the three of them by the bar, and the first thing
Grim did was to pull on Lucky’s vest. “You in the club?”
