After positioning the thick head of his manhood at my slick entrance, Grayson slid his entire length into me with one long, powerful thrust, growling. I threw my head back, gasping at the sensation of being filled so quickly and completely. However, the sensation wasn't unpleasant at all, to say the least, and my gasp turned into a moan of pleasure. Seeming to respond to this and take this as a cue, Grayson soon began thrusting his rock-hard shaft in and out of my depths, groaning, his movements powerful and slow.

Beside us on the bed, Chase had gotten in and rolled onto his back, and he now began slowly stroking his thick rod with his gaze on my full, bouncing breasts. The erotic picture he made added to my pleasure, and it wasn't long before I was bringing my hips back to meet Grayson's thrusts, heading toward what I knew was likely going to be a mind-shattering climax.

I wasn't disappointed. After several minutes, the feel of Grayson's granite-hard pole sliding in and out of me, combined with the feel of the Tickler still doing its job, was more than I could take. Shuddering, I cried out, while waves of pleasure suddenly began rippling through my body. Grunting with his own climax, Grayson gripped my hips, driving himself deeper and deeper inside of me until the very last spasm of our ecstasy had passed.

Grayson had no sooner pulled his manhood out of me than Chase pulled me on top of himself. And, somewhat to my surprise, because one climax had always seemed to be enough for me, I realized I was still very much up for another round. Soon I was riding Chase, moaning, well on my way to another powerful climax with Chase groaning out his own along with me.

Soon after, finally satisfied and thoroughly exhausted, I finally peeled off the Tickler, flung it aside, and began drifting off to sleep wrapped in two sets of muscular arms. Grayson had turned off all the lights in the cabin, and the fire, now burning low, filled the large room with a soft, dim glow.

Slowly running a hand over my hair, Chase spoke near my ear in a husky whisper. "Try to get a good night's sleep. We have more baby-making work ahead of us tomorrow, and Grayson and I have a few more toys from Ashcrest we'd like to introduce you to."

I nodded, closing my eyes. Even in my sleepy state, I couldn't deny that I was more than a bit intrigued.

            *

Because of what Chase had said the night before, about us having more baby-making work to do the next day, and about there still being a few more toys from Ashcrest to introduce me to, I'd thought that I'd be waking up with him and Grayson still in bed with me. I'd thought I might wake up to a continuation of our intimacy from the night before. A prospect that, to my surprise, did not bother me a bit.

But instead, I found myself in bed alone. However, the area of the bed to my left was still warm, as was the area on my right. I knew they both must have just recently left. I got out of bed, padded over to the front windows, and peeked out through the curtains, wondering if maybe they were both just having coffee out on the porch or something. The porch was empty.

I'd just begun turning from the window when something caught my eye. It was a group of men striding down the dirt lane in front of the cabin. They were still maybe a hundred feet away from the cabin, though even from that distance, I could tell they were in a hurry. One of the men in front seemed to be shouting something to the other men, his deep voice just barely audible inside the cabin.

Within seconds, I could see this man was Grayson, and next to him was Chase. Chase soon abruptly turned, shouting himself now, and motioned for the dozen or so men in the group to stop, which they did. What I saw next left me open-mouthed, hardly daring to believe what I'd just seen.

In a split-second, Chase and Grayson turned from human men into wolves. They'd shifted. Literally within a blink. One moment they'd been human men, and the next, wolves. I'd never seen a shifter shift before, and I had no idea they were able to do it so quickly. Chase and Grayson hadn't even removed their clothes. I'd heard that shifters' clothes magically shifted with them, reappearing on their physical forms once they shifted back into human form.

Though they were still a good distance away, I could see that Chase and Grayson were just as physically impressive in wolf form as they both were in human form. They were both extremely large for wolves, standing so tall I figured their backs would probably at least reach the height of my shoulders. The fur was the same as their hair was while they were in human form, Grayson's fur was a bit darker than Chase's, such a deep charcoal gray it was nearly black. Chase's fur was lighter, a deep silvery-gray.

They both issued howls at the same time, which seemed to be some sort of signal to their pack. All the men in the pack immediately shifted and began howling along with Chase and Grayson. It struck me as a surreal scene, a pack of shifter wolves howling in a sunlit lane with patches of wildflowers waving in the breeze on either side of them, though I didn't have long to contemplate this.

Within seconds, Chase and Grayson both stopped howling at the same time, then cut across the lane and darted into the dense forest beyond. Their pack immediately followed them.

I watched until the last of them disappeared into the trees, wondering what the pack was doing, and why they seemed to set out so quickly. I also wondered when Chase and Grayson would be back, and what I was supposed to do in the meantime. To my surprise, I realized I was kind of eager to see them both again. And not only because I'd definitely enjoyed our intimacy the night before and was just maybe slightly eager for more of it; absolutely astonished, I realized that I kind of just wanted to spend more time with them, just more time with them, period, maybe outside of the bedroom, to get to know each of them a little better.

This thought not only amazed me, but made me a little appalled with myself as well. Though I wasn't really afraid of Chase and Grayson at all anymore, I definitely didn't exactly trust them, either. Without a doubt, I still saw all wolves as evil, them included. I was thinking, though, that it was possible they simply wouldn't be showing that evil side to
me
. I thought it might be that these wolves had the decency to treat their women a little better than they treated people in the towns they attacked. I had to hope this was the case. Because if it was, when my fertility deception was eventually found out, maybe this would mean that Chase and Grayson would let me live.

After showering and getting dressed, I set about making breakfast, and soon was deep in thought. So deep, that I jumped a mile when a knock sounded on the door just as I'd finished making a big pan of scrambled eggs. The activities of the previous night seemed to make me wake up unusually hungry.

Figuring maybe Chase and Grayson had already returned and had decided to be polite and knock this time, unlike they'd done the night before, I dashed out to the front door and flung it open. It wasn't Chase or Grayson who'd knocked. Instead, a petite blonde woman stood holding the hand of a blonde little girl who appeared to be maybe three or four. This little girl held a cluster of bright wildflowers in one of her tiny hands, and she held the flowers out to me with a shy smile.

"Hi."

I took the flowers, smiling, my heart melting, even though at the same time, I was a bit confused as to who my visitors were. "Hi, there. And thank you."

The petite blonde woman, who I guessed was about my age, mid-twenties, extended a hand and gave me a smile just as tentative and shy as the little girl's had been. "Hello. I'm Flora, and this is my daughter, Lily."

I shook the woman's hand, giving her a discreet once-over, thinking that she looked to be in pretty good form for living with a wolf pack, as I assumed she did. Though she was tiny in stature, her cheeks were rosy and round, as were Lily's. Both of them looked healthy, not showing any visible signs of abuse, mistreatment, or neglect. Heartened by this, I gave Flora a smile.

"It's nice to meet you, Flora."

"Likewise."

Her voice was quiet and melodic. She kind of reminded me a bit of Skye, who also had something of a soft, musical voice. I liked Flora instantly.

I invited her and Lily to come inside, asking if they wanted to join me for breakfast. "I just made some scrambled eggs, and there's plenty to share. I made a citrus salad with some canned grapefruit and orange slices, too."

Handing me a square-shaped object wrapped in a bright red-and-white patterned towel, Flora said they'd love to join us. "We have something to add to breakfast, too. We made you some homemade bread."

The delicious aroma of the bread filled my nostrils, and my stomach growled, though fortunately not loud enough to be heard above my thanks to Flora.

Soon she, Lily, and I sat at the table with plates of eggs, fruit, and slices of warm bread spread with butter. For several minutes, while Flora and I tucked in, Lily, who didn't seem at all interested in food, entertained us by singing songs, mostly about animals and "fishes in the sea."

After that one, Flora gave me a little smile and a wink. "She made that one up herself."

Smiling, I gave Lily a round of applause, prompting an encore of the "fishes" song.

But after that, she seemed to run out of steam and began rubbing her eyes. "Just tired now."

Flora asked if she might set Lily on the couch for a rest, and I said of course.

Lily waved to me while Flora carried her away. "Goodnight."

I waved back, smiling, though with a little ache in my chest, thinking how I'd love to have a little girl of my own; or a little boy, it wouldn't even matter to me. Just a happy, healthy child of my own. But it would never happen. It might happen for Skye, back in Greenleaf, but it would never happen for me. I wasn't even going to get to be around to be an aunt, either. At best, I'd still be living in Shadowfen.

At worst, I'd be dead, killed for my deception about my fertility. Though something was beginning to make me think Chase and Grayson would never do that, would never harm me in any way. I wasn't a hundred percent certain about that, though.

Once she'd rejoined me at the table, Flora picked up her coffee cup, saying she really hoped they weren't imposing. "We just wanted to welcome you to the village and see how you're settling in. I also thought you might want some company today, because who knows when the men will be back...if they even come back today at all. It might be tomorrow."

I set my own coffee cup on the table. "About that. Where
are
the men? I saw Chase and Grayson shift with some others and head into the woods just before you got here, but I was still sleeping when they left. So, nobody told me anything."

Frowning, Flora took a sip of her coffee before responding. "Well...there's been some trouble lately. And in fact...well...." She paused, frowning even harder. "We're all in quite a bit of danger here."

*

Instantly alarmed by what Flora had said, I spoke with a little tremor in my voice. "What do you mean we're all in danger?" I glanced over at Lily, who seemed to be already fast asleep on the couch. "Do you mean we're all in danger right this moment?"

Flora shook her head, setting her coffee cup on the table. "No. No, and I'm sorry if I made it seem like that. We're all in danger, yes, but not immediate danger. Even though Chase, Grayson, and my husband, Hunter, had to leave the village to deal with a situation today, they absolutely didn't leave us unprotected. Hunter is
over
protective of Lily and me, if anything, and Chase and Grayson are definitely very protective as well, as our alphas. They left at least half the pack here in Shadowfen to guard the village and make sure we're okay. So, please don't worry. We're not in any immediate danger."

I breathed a sigh of relief, leaning back in my chair. "Well, good. Good for that. But what
is
the danger? Why did Grayson, Chase, your husband, and the others have to leave?  What did you mean when you said there's been some 'trouble' lately? What kind of trouble?"

Flora sighed, blowing her pale blonde bangs out of her face. "Just the same kind of trouble as always. Wolf trouble. Only a little...well, a little worse this time. This pack is a little more aggressive. A little more...well, pardon my language, but a little more pissed-off, frankly."

I sat, simply processing her words for a long moment, thoroughly confused. "But...when you say 'wolf trouble'...." Unable to make any kind of sense out of what she'd said, I gave my head a little shake. "Sorry. I'm just miles beyond lost. I thought our men
were
the trouble. I mean...they're wolf shifters, right? I just saw them this morning with my own eyes."
