Mine.

He ran a hand over her hair. His emotions hit him hard, square in the chest. He stared down at the woman who’d changed his life. “I love you, Jessa.”

Chapter Twenty

Jessa wasn’t sure she’d heard him correctly. He loved her?

Her first instinct was to blow it off. Blame his words on the orgasm she’d given him. People say things they don’t mean in the throes of passion, right?

No. Not her Garrett. And she’d never doubt him again.

He pulled her across his lap as he collapsed on the edge of the bed. And he did collapse, as if his legs had no strength left. She felt a gust of female satisfaction that she’d done that.

This big, gorgeous, wonderful man loved her. She kissed his chest, directly over his pounding heart. She kissed his collarbone, trailing her lips over the contours of his shoulder. Her fingers traced the hard lines of his bicep, as her mouth worked up his neck. She nipped his earlobe, felt his breath hitch as she trailed her tongue over the sting.

“I love you, Garrett,” she whispered into his ear.

After a declaration like that, Jessa expected him to devour, take control of her passion as he had before.

Not this time.

He captured her mouth. He lingered, his tongue savoring her as if he had all the time in the world. Exploring her mouth.

Breathing new life into her.

His was a slow, steady seduction of her senses. He laid her out on the bed, crawling over her like a predator about to take his prey. “You’re mine, Jessa.”

He teased her breasts with his fingertips, feathering over her skin.

“Yes, Garrett. Yours,” she breathed, “all yours.”

She wiggled, trying to encourage him to touch her nipples. Dying for him to touch her. Arousal unlike any she’d ever felt surged through her, made her ready to beg.

He moved slowly, leaving her breasts to trail down her stomach, over her sides. He touched every inch of her, using only his fingertips, dusting over her skin until even the slightest whisper made her lose her mind.

He heightened her awareness of her own body. Everywhere he touched, she ached. Her nipples were painfully hard and her pussy was drenched in need.

And he progressed on, ignoring all the obvious places. Ramping her arousal as well as her frustration. Minutes seemed like hours as he played on her skin.

She cried out when he kissed the inside of her thigh. First one, then the other. Lick, kiss, nibble. So close. So close to where she needed him. His fingers trailed over her hips, down the outside of her legs as he positioned himself at her apex.

Jessa saw stars as he blew a stream of hot air over her sex. “You’re killing me, Garrett. Please. Do something.”

His husky chuckle made her muscles clench unbearably tighter. “I am doing something, princess. I’m loving you.”

“Can you love me a little faster then? I’m about to burst into flames here.”

“Not until I get inside you. I want to feel you burst around me.”

He stroked his tongue through her slit and Jessa cried out at the sensation. “God, please, Garrett. Please. I can’t take anymore.”

He came over her and pressed his lips to hers. Her taste mingled with his as he wrapped his arms around her and rolled them until she straddled his hips.

She braced her hands on either side of him and rocked back and forth, coating his very hard, very thick erection with her juices. Sparks of electricity shot through her as she rubbed her tortured nipples against his chest.

Garrett stilled her with a hand to her hip. “Climb on, princess. Ride me. Take us where we need to go.”

“Take what’s mine.” She rose up and he tucked the head of his shaft against the opening of her pussy.

“Damn straight.”

Jessa sank down, taking him all the way to the hilt. Her pussy stretched, burned, as she fought to adjust to his penetration.

She dug her nails into the hard plane of his chest, the muscles bunching under her palms. She glanced down at him. Love and lust intermingled, giving him a wild, ravenous look. He was breathtaking. She knew this was where she belonged. With Garrett. To Garrett.

“I love you,” she said as she started to move. Slow at first, then faster as she found a rhythm sure to drive them both over the edge.

He palmed her breasts, pinching and rolling her nipples, giving her what she needed. He always knew what she needed.

Her legs trembled and she worked herself up and down on his length, the exquisite feeling of being in love second only to having him inside her.

“I love you. Damn it, Jessa, I love you so fucking much.” He grabbed her and rolled them again, seizing control.

It was as if the words broke something free inside them as he put her ankles against his shoulders and pounded into her. It was more than the act of having sex. More than making love.

The world around them blurred as she relinquished her fears and doubts. She’d given her heart to this man. Her heart and her soul. And she knew everything was going to be all right.

She screamed as her orgasm crashed over her, blinding her. Her womb pumped, her pussy seized, and Garrett yelled out. Her body contracted again as his hot semen filled her. Tiny aftershocks resonated as he slowed his hips, exhaustion claiming them both.

Garrett rested his forehead against hers as they both fought to breathe. He grumbled as he eased out of her and rolled over on his back next to her.

“That was …” She was without words.

“Jesus, I think I’m dead.” Garrett slapped a palm to his chest.

Jessa laughed. “Right there with you.”

They lay together, the smell of sex and sweat an erotic mixture in the aftermath of their lovemaking. They didn’t speak right away. Didn’t need to. Their bodies had said it all.

After a while Garrett reached out, curling her into his side. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”

Jessa burst out laughing. “After recovering from your spectacular lovemaking skills, I was thinking about your game tonight.”

Garrett grinned. “Spectacular, huh? So spectacular that you’re thinking about my game?”

She giggled as he grabbed her ribs and tickled her. “Garrett!” She squirmed in his embrace. “Stop!”

He let her go, easing himself from the bed. “While we’re on the subject, I know you have a life and a job here. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want you with me. This last month was torture, Jessa. If we have to be apart, promise me it won’t be for long periods of time.”

He tossed her top to her and she wiggled it on. “You want me to travel with you?”

“Of course I do.” He shoved a leg into his jeans.

She wrinkled her nose at him. “Are you sure you aren’t trying to get out of traveling with the other players?”

He frowned. “You think I’d try —”

“It was a joke, Garrett.” She scooted from the bed, found her shorts and pulled them on. “I’m not sure I could travel with you all the time, but I’d love to be there with you when I can.”

He nodded, seemingly content with her answer as he finished buckling his belt. “You’ll be there tonight?”

“I wouldn’t miss it. How’s Sandquist looking to take over for Tyler?” She knew the stats, but she wanted to hear from Garrett firsthand what his thoughts were.

“He’s not Tyler, but he’ll get the job done. We’ve played well together the last few weeks.”

“They’re going to be gunning for you tonight. Malone is famous for trying to show up the rookies.” She bent to pick up his shoes. “With your record, he’ll be even worse. He’ll want to make an example of you.”

Garrett laughed and wrapped his arms around her from behind. “Nervous, baby?”

She tilted her head, giving him access to her neck. “Maybe a little. If he throws at you, I may not be able to hold my tongue.”

He squeezed her. “My little fireball. Let me worry about Malone.” He nipped at the muscle between her shoulder and her neck. “And your tongue.”

“Ha ha.”

“It’ll be fine, Jessa. Stop worrying.” He reached in his pocket. “I’d be able to concentrate better if I knew you were gonna be waiting for me after the game.” He dangled a key from his finger. “What do you say, princess? Meet me at my place after?”

“Let me guess.” She took the key from him. “You want me waiting, naked and in your bed?”

He shrugged. “Or fully clothed at the kitchen table with a beer. Or curled up on the couch watching a movie. As long as you’re there, that’s all that matters to me.”

Tears formed at the sincerity in his voice. She swallowed hard. God, she loved this man. He was almost too good to be true, and he was all hers. “I may even make you something to eat.”

“Don’t get your hopes up, princess. I’ve barely had time to settle in, let alone stock the fridge. I’ve gotten the necessities, but you may want to bring any extra stuff that you need.”

“Stuff? Like what?”

He kissed her nose. “You know, like that delicious smelling shampoo you use. Toothbrush. Clothes. Shoes. Whatever else you need.”

He teased her mouth with his lips, driving her to distraction. They’d never make the game if he didn’t stop touching her. “That’s a lot of stuff, Garrett. How long are you planning to keep me?”

He gifted her with a wicked grin. “Forever, Jessa.” He pressed his lips to hers in a kiss that left her breathless. “I’m keeping you forever.”
