It was worse than anything I could possibly have imagined.
I knew it was only a matter of time before reporters figured out who I was, and when they got hold of the fact that I was Reed’s stepsister, my privacy would be utterly destroyed. All this time I’d been worried about publicity from my father’s campaign disturbing my peace, and as it turned out, I had been completely blind to the real threat.
Dad was sitting out at the table with Reed, Tina, and a room full of vultures, ready to pick the bones of my life completely clean. My job, my friends, my whole fucking life as I knew it was at risk, and all because of Reed. All because I hadn’t ignored my inner voice that told me it was a bad idea to be involved with him.
Gradually calming myself down, I decided to wait until someone came into the bathroom and beg for help. I had cash on me, and if I had to pay a member of the staff to get me out of there, I could do it. I was certain I could manage it somehow. And I was certain of something else.
I never wanted to see Reed Randolph again.
