French billionaire Max Dantes never expected to spend his Saturday night at a sex-

partner swap meet in one of Houston’s swankiest hotels. When smoking-hot firefighter

Chris Collins hits on Max, his night takes an even more unexpected turn. Soon he’s

pinned to a mattress beneath the sexiest specimen of raw masculinity he’s ever seen…

and questioning everything he’s ever believed about himself.

Chris went to the swap meet looking for a fling but finds so much more. Soon Max

is treating him to the kind of luxuries only a billionaire can offer. But when Max wants

something more than an illicit tryst, Chris bolts. He’s just not ready for that kind of

commitment or the potential consequences—and prejudices—of going public.

Or is he? But by the time Chris realizes his mistake, it just might be too late.

Chapter One

There were many ways Max had considered spending his Saturday night. Standing

in a darkened corner of an upscale bar in Houston’s finest hotel hadn’t been among

them. He still couldn’t believe he’d agreed to escort Gigi to this swap meet of sorts.

When she’d told him of these private swinger parties she frequented, he’d been

stunned. His straitlaced CFO was a closet kinkster! He’d never have guessed.

The zaftig sexpot swung her voluptuous hips as she prowled for the man she’d take

back to her suite and fuck senseless. Interested men slipped cards into her hand or the

waistband of her ass-hugging pencil skirt. Some cards she discarded immediately. A

few she kept. Which man would she ultimately choose?

As she’d explained to him on the drive over in his chauffeured car, couples received

invitations to these exclusive gatherings based on connections with others in the close-

knit group of elite Houstonians. They separated from their partners at the door and

indulged in a passionate night of no-strings-attached sex in a safe environment.

Max had never been in a place so sexually charged. His body buzzed with the

tension saturating the air. The walls of the room practically pulsed with lust and heat

and need. His idle gaze moved around the bar, taking in the offerings. None of the

women appealed to him. They were all beautiful and primped but they just weren’t

right. He wanted something he couldn’t quite name.

For some time now, he’d struggled with his inability to pinpoint what, exactly, was

missing from his life. Women threw themselves at him on a daily basis. The perks of

being a jetsetting billionaire, he supposed. He’d sampled most of the world’s most

luscious beauties and yet never had he felt that connection, that sizzling snap of rightness when two lovers came together and sparked.

And he wanted that. He craved that more than anything. Would he find it here,

tonight?

The sensation of a lingering gaze caught Max’s attention. He surreptitiously looked

in the direction of the heated stare. A ripple of surprise shook his core. He’d met the

gaze of a ruggedly handsome younger man. He wore his dark hair short and rakishly

unkempt. His tailored suit outlined a muscular form, the kind of body one spent hours

maintaining. The darkened atmosphere of the bar made it nearly impossible for Max to

see the man’s eye color. Light, he guessed, maybe green or blue.

Max swallowed hard, a bit uncomfortable under the man’s intense gaze. He’d been

checked out by men before but never like this. The guy was relentless. Max could

almost feel the stranger’s hands drifting over his naked skin, his lips brushing against

his neck. White-hot quivers rocked Max’s belly. His face flamed under the licentious

stare.

When the man started toward him, crossing the crowded room like a sleek,

prowling cat, Max went rigid with shock. He’d never been pursued like this—and it

made him so hot. Arousal blossomed in his chest. His cock stiffened slightly, pressing

against the placket of his boxers. His body’s reaction to this aggressive pursuit puzzled

Max. He’d never responded to another man. Hell, he’d never responded to another

woman like this. His head swam with desire and excitement and uncertainty.

Was
this
what he’d been missing all these years?

He stopped less than a foot from Max, invading his personal space without so much

as a by your leave. His body heat penetrated Max’s clothing. His smell, something brisk

and spicy, invaded Max’s senses, made his belly roll with unexpected desire. There was

just enough glow from the recessed lighting for Max to make out the other man’s

piercing blue irises. A faint scar marred his chin. Another, even lighter, marked his left

cheek. The imperfections lent him a rough, roguish air.

With an expectant lift of his brow, the man held out a card. Max’s eyes widened at

the bold move. In that long moment of indecision, their eyes locked. Fire licked at Max’s

skin as the man’s gaze bore into him, seeming to peer right into his soul. There was

suddenly no question in Max’s mind. He took the card, their fingers touching for a split

second, sparks of desire igniting between them.

Max glanced down at the card. There was a name and a room number. Chris. 314.

By the time Max looked up again, Chris had stealthily departed. Gripped by an

unexplainable fear, Max scanned the bar. His gaze settled on the wide expanse of Chris’

back. He lithely moved through the crowd, sidestepping cozied-up couples. As he

neared the exit, Chris paused and glanced over his shoulder. Their eyes met over the

shadowed expanse. Max’s gut clenched with need. Chris shot him a wicked grin and

wink before disappearing.

Rooted to the spot, Max clutched the card in his fist. Every fiber of his body screamed for him to make chase. Only the quietest voice of dissent invaded his lusty

thoughts. Taking off after a strange man in a hotel had to be the riskiest thing he’d ever

contemplated. Who knew what kind of trouble he might encounter. Or what heights of

ecstasy…

To stay or to go? Max pondered his options carefully. He couldn’t shake from his

mind the brief sensation of their fingers touching. His skin still tingled. He burned with

hunger for Chris, craved the chance to try something he’d never before contemplated.

His feet moved forward even before he’d settled his mind on the matter. Mouth

dry, Max stepped into an elevator and hit the button for the third floor. He closed his

eyes and leaned back against the shiny cold metal of the box. The excitement of the

unknown threatened to collapse his knees. When the doors parted, he could barely

muster the ability to walk. By now his cock stood fully at attention and pressed almost

painfully against his boxers. No doubt his hard-on was clearly evident through his crisp

charcoal trousers. He walked stiffly down the hall, his gaze skipping from door to door,

his heartbeat racing faster and faster as he neared room 314.

His fingers trembled violently as he stood in front of Chris’ room. Before he lost his

nerve, Max balled his hand into a fist and rapped his knuckles against the door. An

excruciatingly long handful of seconds followed. Had Chris changed his mind? Was

this some colossal joke? Or a setup?

Max cast a nervous glance around the hallway, wondering if paparazzi lurked

around the corners ready to snag a picture of a billionaire seeking out anonymous male

sex. Oh, how such a shot would delight his competitors! He’d always been very careful

to maintain as much privacy as possible. Standing on the doorstep of a strange man

wasn’t his usual modus operandi. He hoped it wasn’t about to bite him in the ass.

The door swung open, revealing Chris in all his deliciously sexy glory. He’d cast

aside his jacket, shoes and socks. His gray pants and pale blue shirt enhanced the

striking beauty of his blue eyes. Max’s mind reeled. Since when had he found men

beautiful? Or was it only this man?

A boyish grin on his face, Chris stepped aside and silently ushered Max inside. He

said nothing as he entered, his body immediately perking to the nearness of the other

man. The click and lock of the door behind him sent tremors of anxiety through Max.

He felt like a bumbling schoolboy about to get his first taste of all the dirty things he’d

seen in porn films and magazines. It was quite unsettling for a man of thirty-seven to

feel so naïve.

He glanced around the room, taking in the sleek furnishings and upscale fabrics.

The room shared the same swanky feel as the bar downstairs. Max’s gaze lingered on
