“Why would you want to move?”

“We want to be close to you while you’re completing your PhD,”
Luke said before he smiled at her expectantly.

“Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more,” she said, the tears now flooding down her cheeks. “You would move for me?”

“Yes,” Luke, Adam, and Justin said together.

“It’s only until you complete your degree and then we can decide where we want to live permanently. As long as we’re together, it doesn’t matter where we live. We all have careers that give us flexibility,” Adam said, holding her close.

“But your dad…he thinks you’re taking over his practice.”

“My dad understands what’s important. And from what he tells us, he doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon.”

“Adam’s right,” Luke said. “Dad’s like an old soldier. They don’t retire, they just fade away. He’ll be doctoring until the day he dies.”

“And your mother,” Justin added, “told me nothing would make her happier than knowing you were completing your degree.”

“I don’t know what to say other than I love you all so much.”

Jenny was touched beyond words that they were willing to make a sacrifice of this magnitude by putting her happiness before their own. It had taken a while, but she finally understood what it meant to really love someone and to be loved in return. Adam was right. Nothing mattered as long as they were together, and her heart told her that would be forever.
