I’m married!

Can you believe it? Did you ever think you’d see the day? Me, a wife?!? Well, I know you’ve known you’d see the day over the past fifteen months, when I’ve been such a gooey bride-to-be, but before that? (Uh, FYI, for those of you who are new here, I really was something of a man-hater once upon a time. Read one of my books if you don’t believe me.)

But all that was before Mr. Perfect.

Who is, of course, utterly perfect.

Our wedding day, while not perfect, was perfectly wonderful to us. Everything would have gone off without a hitch…had it not been for my new sister-in-law—let’s call her J—going into labor just as the wedding march began to play!

I can tell you one thing—nobody’s ever going to forget my wedding. I mean, how many people do you know who have heard the splash of a pregnant woman’s water breaking halfway through the procession? I wish that funniest videos show was still on—the videographer caught the moment and it was absolutely priceless. J didn’t look worried, she was pissed that she got amniotic fluid all over her new shoes! (I think the pastor was a little more pissed about the carpeting. Don’t worry. We made a very nice donation to replace it.)

Anyway, J was her usual feisty, wonderful self, and insisted on sticking out the ceremony. We got her a chair, and she sat at the altar, trying to be quiet while she did a little hoo-hoo-ha-ha breathing. Right after we said our “I dos,” her hubby (one of the groomsmen) whisked her into his arms and carried her out of the church to take her to the hospital. Swoon. My new mother-in-law (whom I adore) went, too, wanting to see the birth of her first grandchild, but everyone else partied with us at the reception, waiting for word.

We got the call just as we were cutting the cake—it’s a boy! Welcome to the world little guy, I’m so excited to be your Aunt Mari.

Mr. Perfect and I didn’t leave for our honeymoon right away. After the reception, the limo took us to the hospital to meet the new arrival—you should have seen the faces when we walked through the maternity ward, him absolutely drool-worthy in his tux, and me not too shabby in my OH, SO GORGEOUS gown.

Anyway, gotta wrap this up. It’s now 6:00 a.m… I’m writing this right before we leave for the airport. Flight to Aruba leaves in three hours and I cannot wait to get the honeymoon started.

Oh, by the way, don’t expect me to blog from there. I don’t care if they do have internet service— I am completely disconnecting for the next week. I intend to enjoy every minute I can get with my new hubby, who’s been working so hard at his new job for the past year! This is the first real break he’s had since he started. (Can’t get too specific, but let me just say—he’s a real American hero.)

And he’s my hero.

My Mr. Perfect.

See ya—

Mari

aka: Mrs. Perfect.
