“Will Daniel be in trouble? Will the council find out?” I said feeling an overwhelming sense of worry for Daniel’s future.

“Don’t worry Lauren. You are not an unknown human. You are aware of the vampire race. The council know of your existence, as you are a witch. We will need to inform the council but nothing should happen,” Annalise said reassuringly.

“Are you sure? And how do they know about me?”

“The council know about all vampires and witches. They have sources. It is to make sure the secret world is preserved and rules are followed. It is nothing to worry about Lauren. As you are a witch and aware of this world they should not be concerned with what Daniel did.” Annalise explained and gestured to Alice you nodded but looked slightly anxious.

“It would have been nice to have been told though. I’m not sure how I feel about the vampire council knowing my where abouts.”

“It is fine really. Don’t worry.” Alice said giving my hand a squeeze.

“Oh my God! I can't believe it. It feels like everything has changed. It was only a few hours ago I was celebrating my 21
st
birthday. I was surrounded by my friends and family and felt 100% normal. I was so happy with Gavin and had a normal future mapped out. Now I feel so different. Maybe you shouldn’t have told me. I probably wouldn’t have remembered anyway.”

“It’s ok Lauren. I know it’s a lot to take in. We had to tell you. You really are the most unusual and special girl I’ve come across in years. You can carry on as normal. We will all help you,” Annalise said giving me an apprehensive look.

“I wish I was plain and boring sometimes. I don’t feel special.” I replied, feeling glum and unsure if I was being protected from some aspects of the truth. Tiredness was starting to seep into my mind, distracting me and making it hard to concentrate on what I was being told.

“You truly are special Lauren, but I know you want a normal life and I will do all I can to make sure you get one.” Annalise said giving me another hug.

“What about the bond with Daniel? Is Gavin ok?” I said as my eyes felt constantly drawn to Daniel who was still quietly sitting in the corner and was making Gavin’s absence seen vast. As I glanced at Daniel, I became aware of my heartbeat, which seemed to grow in volume and I shivered and quickly looked away. Exhaustion was slowly creeping over me and I knew I would have to sleep soon but needed to know the answer to these questions.

“Gavin will be fine, it was just quite distressing for him as you seemed to be in pain. You can speak to him tomorrow.” Annalise said smiling. “I’m not 100% sure about everything Lauren. This is a very unusual situation. You and Daniel are somehow connected to Emily and Drake. Your paths have crossed in a previous life. I promise we are all here to help you just as before. You will be fine, but I’m not sure exactly what the future holds for you two.”

I mulled this information over but felt unable to continue the conversation as tiredness pulled at my senses and my eyes felt heavy. “Don’t worry now Lauren. You need to rest. We will all be here in the morning and life will carry on as normal I promise.” Annalise said as I felt my eyes close and someone scoop me up and carry me up the stairs. As sleep took over, I felt calm and secure and was sure everything would be ok.
