Taggart overlooked Encyclopedia's fast brain!

The detective knew that violinists sit in
armless
chairs while playing. Never in armchairs!

Caught in his lie, Taggart returned the chair to Fay.

SOLUTION TO
The Case of the
Stolen Coin

Chief Brown sent Jay Cook's water glass to the police lab. Encyclopedia had him send Betsy Millen's glass too. It was the only glass with lipstick on it.

Jay Cook's held no trace of a sleeping drug. Betsy Millen's glass did.

Encyclopedia knew she drugged her own glass, never dreaming it would be tested. She had switched glasses with Jay Cook when her sister put out the lights the first time.

In draining the glass dry, Jay Cook had tipped it till the rim touched his forehead. The lipstick on the rim left the “red line” between his eyes!

Betsy Millen then switched the glasses back before the lights went on again.

Jay Cook recovered. Although the sisters returned his coin, they were punished for drugging his water.

For my grandson,
