Zed wasn’t doing too good either. He put all his belongings that he had left after Sandy destroyed his house, in his old Toyota and drove to Los Angeles to complete his dream to become a famous DJ. Nobody has heard from him since then.

Mikky is not working anymore. She moved into her dream apartment in Manhattan, got herself a cat, got a degree in interior design and is in active search of a good husband to spend the rest of her life with. She is very happy. It was her who gave me the idea to write a book, after one of our evenings together, when we were drinking tea and recollecting all the crazy stuff we went through while working, all the brain damaged customers and even more brain damaged co-workers. She said that if only people knew the inside of this business, their hair would stand up; and I decided that after so many writing classes in my university and so much experience in my “dancing career” it would be stupid not to put it all down on paper, so I started writing.

_______________

This book was written not to glorify the profession of the exotic dancers, but to make people understand what’s really going on behind the closed doors of New York and New Jersey strip clubs. I wanted my readers to see why the girls have to get into this business and what happens when they leave it. We all have different paths in life, some of us get our happy endings, and some still keep struggling, but the point is, we are all fighters, as it takes great courage to overcome yourself, to step over your feelings and come out on stage wearing nothing but a tiny G-string, plastic shoes and a smile.

Several years ago, if someone told me that I would be one of those girls on stage, I would laugh in their face. But now, after looking back at everything that happened to me, I can say that I’m grateful for all the good and bad in my life, as it made me the person I am today. I had to come to America, I had to struggle to keep a roof above my head, I had to fall in love and be broken hearted, I had to dance all those nights, I had to keep believing in myself and my bright future, I had to meet the love of my life, my knight in shining armor who came to my rescue, like all the fairy tales say, I had to go through all this to write about it, and if I was given a chance to change something in my past, I wouldn’t do it, because my path, sometimes very dark and scary, lead me to the happiest place on Earth; this is where I am now, with the man who I love more than life, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
