I’m not sure how to answer that. ‘Some really good stuff and some … not so nice’ which is a huge understatement. I’m pregnant.
With a baby that we pretty much conceived, I think, because I felt guilty for something I never did, but I now know I want,
for all of the right reasons … in fact arguably I’m pregnant because of Leo. I never had an affair … my dad … ‘I’m not sure
where to start,’ my voice starts to shake, ‘there’s so much to say.’ And as I look at him I can’t help but feel incredibly
frightened. I don’t want to be without him ever again. Will he believe me? Will he still want me – us?

But he reaches for my hand and he holds it very tightly. ‘Well I’m not going anywhere. Why don’t we just start at the beginning?’

Book Club Questions

1. Molly wants to keep what happened with Leo a secret from Bec, one of her closest friends. Do you think we are all pressured
these days to disclose too much about ourselves?

2. Can you ever stay friends with an ex? Or is there always an agenda? Is it possible to completely get over an ex?

3. Does Dan behave honourably throughout or does Molly have cause to doubt him?

4. If you could have one night with an ex and you knew that no one would ever find out – would you do it?

5. Did you feel for Molly when she realised she was having doubts about having children and why that might be, or did you
think her reasons were selfish and indulgent?

6. Molly, Joss and Bec all have very different ideas on having children. Who did you most closely identify with?

7. Dan and Molly are very happy apart from the one issue that threatens to shatter their marriage: having children. If one
person wants them, and the other doesn’t, can there ever be a way through that?

8. Is it ever acceptable for someone to ‘track’ someone else?

9.
‘If only Leo’s stupid wallet hadn’t been in my bag; he would have kept walking out of that hotel. We’d just made our peace.
We should have just gracefully exited each other’s lives … and if I’d have called Dan first thing that morning and said sorry
straight away, when Leo turned up, perhaps I wouldn’t have been so unsettled, I’d have been more on my guard.’
Molly seems to believe here that everything snowballed as a result of bad luck and circumstance. Do you think that’s true,
or did flattery blind Molly to what experience had taught her about Leo?

10. What do you think really happened in that hotel room? Could you live with not ever really knowing?

11. Do you think Molly got her happy ending?
