Lyric was a bare two weeks old with hazel eyes like her mom and a bit of dark blonde fuzz like her dad.  He'd melted into a big pile of goo when Shyne held her for the first time, watching her eyes close in bliss as if she'd just touched an angel.

When dinner was ready, they ambled into the house and found his sweetheart laughing with Cades in the kitchen.  When the two saw them, they stopped laughing for a moment before bursting out in peals of laughter.

Jason shrugged and set the platter of steaks down on the kitchen table, and the girls joined them, trying unsuccessfully to cover their snickers with coughs.  Lyric was sleeping quietly in the swing near the table, a welcome addition to the family.

Jason held up his beer bottle and the others lifted theirs, Cades drinking a tall glass of milk.  "To our first official Friday night cookout and our two new family members, my daughter Lyric and my new sister, Shyne."

They clinked their glasses together, and Michael winked at Shyne when she grinned at him.  She didn't really know what family meant because she'd been so young when she lost hers.  He was teaching her slowly that family meant a lot of different things to different people, but to wolves and their mates, it meant love above all else.

Their wedding, a simple affair for the pack, a few of the bar workers, the band, and Trav, was set for just after September's full moon, and they were going to a small bed and breakfast in Tennessee for a few days.  He already felt married to her because of the marks on her neck and wrist, but he knew it wasn't official until she had his last name.  He couldn't wait.  He felt like he was standing on the cusp of his future, and the world was his for the taking.  Anything was possible with Shyne by his side.  She truly was his perfect mate, strong where he was weak, and more patient and loving than he deserved.

The Wolf’s Mate Book 5:  Bo & Reika

Coming in early 2013

She-wolf Reika Snow is on the run for her life.  Her salvation comes in the form of a long-injured wolf named Bo.  Can he set her free from the chains of her past, or will he lose his life standing up for her?

Reika darted her eyes around the terminal as the two wolves put their hands on her arms, urging her to follow them to the gate.  The wolves were knocked away from her by three hulking figures who snarled warnings in deep, guttural words.  She hadn't seen the Eli, Josef, and Adam for sixteen years, but she recognized them immediately.  They threw the wolves around like they were stuffed toys.  The taller wolf went through a glass wall and hit the concrete sidewalk hard.  The other wolf was hauled over Josef's body and thrown into the courtesy desk with a sickening crack.

Regaining her senses, she raced out the exit just as the airport security came running to the scene.  She waved at a taxi frantically that was about to pull away after dropping someone off, and when it stopped, she jerked the back door open, threw herself inside and slammed the door.

"Where to, honey?"  The woman driver said.

"Anywhere, just get me out of here!"  Reika panted.

The car pulled away quickly and she watched out the back window as Eli, Josef, and Adam stepped out of the building and looked around.  She knew they saw her in the taxi, and was glad for the momentary reprieve when police cars with flashing lights pulled up in front of the terminal and they scattered.

As the scene faded into the distance, she knew that they would only be temporarily distracted from finding her.  They would maim and kill anyone that came between her and them, she could see that clearly now.  She had no idea how they followed her, except that they must have been watching her home.

Saying a silent prayer for the two wolves that fell trying to help her, she turned back and asked the driver to push the speed limit and take her an hour south and drop her off somewhere public and well-lit.

She didn't imagine her bid for freedom potentially costing two men their lives, and she only hoped that they had survived and that she would, too.
